    Just did this right now. It freaking works flawless! I was originally using a WII power supply, but it wouldn't let me push my subs before shutting off due to over current. Then I went to a 150w Xbox 360 power supply, and that worked decent but still same issue. Now after doing this I can push my subs and it never shuts off. Plus, these PC power supplies are typically higher quality, and higher wattage than the gaming console junk.
    Amazing video bro💪🏻

    • @animatedtv3258
      @animatedtv3258 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the amp turns on it cud be
      the amp isn't getting the correct current (if so pay close attention to the protection light it should light dim, and a dim power light is a good indicator of that)
      The channels are blown ( sound won't come out)
      The rca isn't in the correct color code (that seem to be a problem on a amp I worked on a while bk)
      Bad rcas
      The preamp or head unit rca out isn't working or damaged
      Or the amp rca is damaged
      Bad speakers
      Check all those things

    • @jboblk
      @jboblk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are enough yellow and black wires in the power supply that you can clump them together to about the size of 4 gauge wire. You will need 750w or higher power supply to allow your amp to go at full power.

    I don't know much about PSU inner working but don't these old PSU have multiple rails and single rail can only deliver 15-20 amps. don't you have to connect two rails but can you do that? And there's no current limiter on them it will deliver as much power amp tries to pull. Good PSU will deliver about Twice as much power as rated power before blowing up. 350W is continuous power dunno how peak power works on PSU.

    • @Redninja4gaming

    So does the wattage rating of a power supply not matter? Also an amp hooked up in a car, 12 volts dc, does wattage come into play there?

    • @TheGamersRace
      @TheGamersRace 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course it absolutely applies. You'll want to make sure your power consumption on your audio amp is below the output of your pc power supply.

    • @Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix
      @Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The more yellows the better. A single one will work but is too thin to really carry any serious current. I ran 3 yellows to my car stereo amd the rest to my kicker mono amp. Ive had mine since about 2018 and use it all the time here in the oilfield cranked up loud all day and no issues.

    I was actually looking for how to connect a car radio to your pc, but it seems I am the only one with that curiosity :(
    Just to clarify. I want to install the Car radio into the box of the PC where the Optical drive goes in the old boxes. the new ones can't even do that anymore. then Power it and the PC with the PC Power supply and if I am luck, I would like to get the PC to be able to influence the Radio, but I don't know if that is even Possible...

    • @CustomKartsAndMore
      @CustomKartsAndMore  หลายเดือนก่อน

      i dont see why you couldn’t. the radio would be 12v. and then if you have any aux to 1/8 headphone patch cable, you could use that to link the output of the pc to the car radio if the radio has any rca inputs. and then just hookup the speakers to the radio like normal. hope that helps somewhat!

      if it were me id find another power box if possible, with different color wires like the one i used. or look up the box you have and see if there is any writing on the wires to identify which ones are which.

      That's the over current protection in the psu. If you do not have all the yellow and black wires on the psu connected to the amp that would be the problem, if you have all the yellow and black wires connected than the psu isn't powerful enough to run that amp. Hope this helped

    • @wowman6317
      @wowman6317 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I did connect all the yellow and black except there were two yellow with black stripes can I also connective it is better at hits harder especially a low in but still if I crank up a movie it will shut off nothing like before though it's way better

      Meant to say can I add the black striped yellow wires to the existing gang of them I did hook up. Very much different after going from 1 wire to 8 but if the striped ones are good to go Ill add them, anyone know?

      @@jibranshah384 You will NOT power a 4000W amp with a computer power supply. I have a 1250W power supply and its one of the largest. I doubt you will come across one that will power 4000W, not only that but depends on how much of a load you want to put on it (how loud you actually want your sound to be) which means you will need even more power. I suggest getting a smaller amp, instead of finding a larger power supply.
