Great interview with a true legend of a bygone era - but that sofa is gonna need a good wipe down afterwards 😆
So many thanks for that lads, Dave Bassett, what a fucking legend! I was in hospital after an accident in the army, and my dad walked into Bramall Lane and asked to see the manager, no fuss, the reception called up and said.. yes, Dave will see you, my old man walked in and said, sign this card for my lad, he's in the army and had an accident... Harry did that and more, filled a whole bag up with blades stuff that my dad sent to me. I've still got the card. My brother also worked for local radio (Hallam) and did a massive wind-up on him the day before the derby, he loved it. I've still got the tape of that as well... loads of DB stories, I even did a bit of scouting for the club, never came to much, but it was worth the free tickets 😂What a bloke
Harry's laugh is brilliant. What a geezer. Knew this would be a belting episode
Great episode. Dave Bassett a totally underrated manager. Achieved miracles at Wimbledon and Sheff U.
Dave is spitting on that 🎤 Literally! 😂
Babies babble, blowing bubbles in the bathtub.....imagine a mic after that sentence
I’m 2 minutes into this and need to share my love for Dave.
What a fucking legend of a bloke.
Back to it…
I remember The Blades playing Wimbledon at The Lane.A drop ball was contested between Billy Whitehurst and John Fashanu. They were kicking lumps out each other seconds before the ball was dropped. The ref looked terrified!!
My money would be on Billy. Higgy tells some great stories about Bilbob on his interview here
@@db0800I don’t know Fashanu back in the day was horrible & a heck of a lot more nasty than people seem to think. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Great to hear these stories. A proper old school manager with proper old school tales. Very good episode this.
New mic for the next podcast! Dave spat all over that one 🤣
I thought, am I the only one seeing spit going everywhere 😂 sunlight didn't do him any flavours
Dave Bassett is a true football legend. I remember the late 70s/80s very well❤😂
Can’t believe he’s 79 always imagine him being about 55 forever 😂
Gave the Blades some great times.Total respect for Harry and his achievements at Bramall Lane.
Loving it lads puts any other podcast to shame without a doubt proper football
Listening to this in the car and I find it funny that Dave Bassett sounds exactly like Jim Trott from the vicar of Dibley.
I'll shed a tear when this Blades legend departs. A real character and one of the best I've ever seen manage United.
That series they did during the promotion year is top notch. Great times for the Blades
@@db0800 Titled “United”. Every episode is on TH-cam. A brilliant watch, a million miles away from the Premier League crap, proper football, gritty and what I grew up watching and falling in love with.
Dave Bassett is a true football legend. I remember the 70s/80s very well, at Wimbledon.... then in the early 90s a Sheffield United. Hard teams indeed.
Very close to the 100k lads ,a long time coming ,should be much more
I wonder how long into the chat Dave Bassett thought “why is nobody wearing any shoes”
Man looks incredible for 79
well done on 100k subs boys, and this was another belter!
THAT WAS SO GOOD - lots of info as well as stories
Love the way he admits his mistakes
met Dave at Wembley 7 years ago before an England game . He was great did the pics and all that . Remember him playing and managing at Wimbledon . Not for everyone in terms of style however just think about the achievements .
Up with the best this podcast Guys , Great Bloke great stories and a fantastic memory .
Fuck me there must have been some puddle on the floor after this 🤣
Brilliant character Harry, something tells me that he wouldn't last long in today's game with how straight he is, we need more like him.
Dave Bassett is absolutely hilarious.
😂😂😂
Brilliant! Always rated Bassett as a manager and also a speaker. And its typical of the man that he doesn't BS, rather he will say when previously stated stories have been exaggerated.
Love The Valley. My uncle was a season ticket holder for decades, and it's not far from where I grew up. So I've a few happy memories there x
Spoke to Harry after a forest training session, I was only 16 17, spoke to my friend and I for about 10 minutes, was an amazing experience, he's a warm man with time for fans
Top bloke respect Dave

When the lad appeared to move the microphone I thought he’ll be back in a minute with a mop
Love Dave at Forest. They were great times.

This is a brilliant interview. 👍
An absolute gent and a true legend. Up the Dons.
I have heard all the other episodes about this Manager called “Harry” and never knew it was Dave Bassett 😂. Boss Episode Lads! 👍🏻
Great lad is Harry! Always good company and great stories
Of course he has a big Union Jack centre of the room.. what a man 😂
Cracking episode, he meant Trevor Senior not Sinclair at the end
42:51 Apparently Jones once pinned Bobby Gould up against the dressing room wall when he dropped him, saying that his family had come to see him play and that he couldn't be left out. Gould gave in, only for Jones to be sent off a few minutes in for a filthy tackle 🤣
Enjoyed that lads.
Dave is a true legend. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
The man’s ah legend fantastic episode!!!!!😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Drinking game take a shot every time Dave says ‘are you with me’ 😂 top fella
Anyone record how many times he said …. “You know” 😂

Dave Bassett has Windscreen Wipers on the inside of his car.
I can't take my eyes off that FLYING SALIVA!!
Love Mike.
When you think about it he took Wimbledon from the 4th to the first division and won the FA cup,he would probably have done better with the England team compared to some of the clowns that got the job,i used to love the football then, well done Dave and thanks
What a fella Harry his
Excellent.
Daves left arm must have been soaked by the end of this.
Another great episode gents
Legend

He actually turned us Blades around twice ,he set Chris wilder up to be as successful as he was, always close and I believe they still are UTB ⚔️

Dave Bassett 🤝 Neil Warnock "Ya With Me"
good to see that 25 years on Harry still despises Pierre 🤣🤣
Worked some magic at Wimbledon
1:11.40 it was sheffield united brought in the ballet dancers
Is this a re-upload or have I already seen this in the last week? It's been a long week tbf to me
Brilliant
His Nottingham Forest team in 1997/98 in division 1 was class with Campbell and Van Hoojidonk up front great team but they sold Campbell in that summer Van Hoojidonk went on strike over it and basically it was a nightmare return to the premier league I believe if Campbell and Van Hoojidonk had both stayed in pre season then the outcome would of been very different as Campbell went to Everton on loan from Turkey and scored 9 goals in 5 games and kept Everton up in 1998/99
Remember when he joined Sheff Utd, initially thought he was a cocky southerner but he was a perfect fit for the Sheffield northern mentality. Blades really took to him because he was so down to earth, ultra honest creating this us against the world Rocky Balboa we can overcome the odds mentality. A real character who was a great listen in his pre and post match interviews. Would slag off his own players and his own team when they were poor and even apologised to the fans when he made tactical errors leading to bad defeats, which wasn’t that often. Blades took him to our hearts mainly for the man he was and he became a honoury Sheffielder.
