What do we think about the first tones with this prototype bass? And what would you all like to hear it through next?

Thanks man for the video, pretty nice tone, and it's helpful to get a glimpse of what the bass can really do! But honestly the B string is too flabby and muddy (yes it's tuned to G) but really this bass needs a longer scale to make this B cut through -which is what most of us bassists are looking for, a killer B string that cuts through the wall of sound around it with clarity. Honestly I won't tune this bass anywhere below a standard D (A D G C F) with such a scale length! A 33.5" to 35" scale is maybe comfortable for some, but a 34" - 37" is what we bassists want 😉As this to me is like having a regular 34" or a 35" scale bass it won't give me any special thing over other basses (other than being headless -which again might not appeal to some). But overall a very good start from @gocguitars 👍THANKS AGAIN! Cheers!

Duly noted! I will tune up as requested by multiple others as well and do another video as soon as possible!

First, Thanks for doing this tone test. The DI tone is exactly what I would expect. It sounded like the string-to-string volume was good, and the picks were clear.
The Low string (G) had little authority or impact (the poster above called it flabby), it was not authoritative. It could be due to the 35" scale length or the bass construction, but the string gauge was most likely the issue. That said, I would record a few additional tones, such as tune the bass to BEADG, (standard for a 5-string) and start there. Next, let us hear the front pickup alone, rear pickup alone, and 50/50 blend of both. Finally, I would do the same test with the tone knob rolled full on, and rolled back fully, so we can hear the range of sounds. All of this as a straight DI tone.
Then I would suggest you run the tone thru a few of your pedals. Lots of folks like the sans amp-type/DG vintage microtube-type sound (gritty), with full compressed low end, and the rock/metal guys like the mid-heavy parallax/Darkglass type tone- the default setting on parallax plugin is a good start. Since you like punk rock, I would suggest you compress the bass followed by the SVT amp sim, but choose a tone that is focused, and less fuzzy.
Lastly, can you play with your fingers at all? as playing with your fingers will round out the tone, making it warmer, and thicker
    These are my suggestions

Damn dude, thank you so much for the detailed feedback and suggestions! I am literally screen shotting this and going to do all of it in a future video(s). I appreciate you!

      @@ryanisheartless rfyan-
Im providing what i would find useful to hear as a potential bass buyer.
That said, I've been playing multiscale basses for 20 years and have a good idea of what a solid B string sound like. Really the problem Dingwall was trying to solve back in the 90s is that 34-35" scale basses had floppy B strings with no articulation, and he solved it by extending the scale length. The multiscale was a solution to keep all the string at their proper speaking length. Im not saying you cant hear a great 34" or 35" B string. Ken smith and Michael tobias has figured it out in 34s and 35", by their construction methods and wood choices. In lower cost instruments, I suspect otherthings can be tweaked (beside expensive woods) to obtain a better than average B string.
BTW, how heavy is that GOC bass?
      Thanks

Tone is cool. Seems flabby for G. I probably wouldn't go below A with these string gauges. These string scales benefit a low B with 35" and don't make the G too tight and pingy.

Yeah depending on personal preference Drop G might be too loose on the low string. I will tune it up to A in a future video for sure, but I don't ever use a low B so A is usually as high as I will go to accomodate the songs I write

I don't find the scale to be a huge issue, I would love to see 6 string versions and hopefully a standard 34 Inch scale and fretless

All of these options are being looked at for right now for sure!

This looks promising. I hope they make a Satya bass too; the idea of a singlecut headless bass appeals to me
