i play guitar since 15 years, i discovered grant green and boogaloo 2 years ago and they changed my playing much more than a lot of my favorite guitarists! their styles were just perfect..!
The saxophone at 3:33 melts my face off every time! Joe's spine tingling ability to build the intensity is amazing. This is one of the best psychedelic soul jazz songs that will ever be recorded. I am so thankful for this!
BLUE NOTE, MAINSTREAM, and the all-mighty PRESTIGE label had a seventies stint for the FUNK...BOOGALOO "JOE" fitted into this so perfectly into the PRESTIGE way of this funky seventies! Love this album!
In Japan, Grant Green is so famous and has many admirers. But Joe is not known widely. I feel that is unfair. I love Joe more than Green. Joe's fingering is so refreshing that I always play the 'air-guitar' behind his performance together.
I was thinking of posting it for sometime now but never did it. Fortunately, someone else has, thanks mate for doing so. One of the best acid jazz plays ever.
Faaaaaaaark !!! What more could you ask of an absolute 'take no Prisoners' rhythm section laying down killer backing to Ivan B JJ by morphing pure grunt with funk that is relentless in it's sublime power with less is more. And then the sax comes in....!!!
pgroove163 Don't they still make a good guitar? I don't look rite, wearin a Gibson. Strict Strat man, I am. Listenin tho..... I can njoy a guy playin a Gibson, well!
Most black Americans playing jazz blues didn't play overpriced Gibsons in the 50's and 60's. Gibson was for white people. It's not the guitar that's good but the guitarist.
@@ericgisclon8122 Not true. Many jazz & blues musicians did play Gibsons but they would take out a hire purchase loan to buy one (payment plan). Gibson had a very good reputation during that period (never considered overpriced) and most musicians felt comfortable taking out a loan to buy one
@@JohnnyFriendly Wrong.I confirm when I write something. Maybe for a few professionals. Gibson was very expensive.1 year salary and more. Most had copies in the 60's. History confirmed by old black American blues musicians. Confirmed by an old English musician. They were there not me !!Gibson was the hallmark of rich white youth in 50-60 Never tell gibson made bad guitars!!lol
Been listening to Jo since 1971 still good as the first time i listened to him
Funky soul jazz...it doesn't get much better than this stuff !!!

This stuff is the *bomb*!
Heard it in an acid jazz compilation many years ago. Along with Manu Dibango's "Dikalo" this one's my favorite.
one of the greatest hands down!

This level of cool funky is from outer space , how does one learn to play this cool ?

ジャズの歴史上、彼、BOOGALOO JOE JONESほど泥臭いのに最高なグルーヴを醸し出すギタリストはいないね!
Boogaloo Joe Jones strikes me as say Grant Green's #1 prodigy Student who was finally showing the Man himself a Thing or Two.
i' m crying mannnnnn
