I’m guessing 1 is the width of the trapezium which used used as the height in this formula and then the height of the trapezium is used as the width since the width is always 1 but the height changes with the curve. Basically think of it sideways. Hope this helps ❤❤❤❤

You wrote the wrong formula . The formula for the area of a trapezium is --- (1/2)(sum of parallel sides) (height) .

why divide by 2?
Because that's the formula for a trapezium x
length multiplied by width is equal to area of rectangle.
A triangle's area is its length multiplied by width divided in half
It could be more accurate if you made more trapeziums.
