I met him and he’s a great officer a lot of the homeless community respects him because he speaks fair and has a solution for helping the city and community and him being able to get out and do things is what the city desperately needs right now
He doesn't have a clue about the reality of southern California and specifically San Diego. I'm a 78 year old San Diego native and retired SDPD Officer. The California and San Diego I grew up in is gone and it is not coming back, EVER. I got to be a police officer here when it was fun. We put bad guys in jail and took care of business. It was a Golden Time for law enforcement but now it is a figment of the imagination. SDPD is down over 300 officers below budgeted strength and they can't even begin to get qualified applicants. This city needs a department 3 times the current size . The traffic is crazy because there is little enforcement. The homeless problem can be traced back to lack of enforcement . We used to pick up illegals and call border patrol and they took them right back to the border. God help you, because that's the only way this mess is going to get cleaned up ! I saw the handwriting on the wall decades ago and got out of California...!
such a large portion of the homeless population needs drug and alcohol rehab along with, or before, tax payer assistance. we need to start helping people we can help and who want help, otherwise there are places like slab city or their relatives homes. i'm not sure larry gets it any better than todd gloria.
He has never lived in the area from the ground up, he’s looking at the city from a uniformed service view. He was a Marine Corps Officer. Meaning he’s never lived in the bush, tent city, in a car… he doesn’t see the corruption of real estate and how damaging sober living houses are to the community, he doesn’t recognize the taxpayer theft of government movements to help Africa with billion dollar Humanitarian Missions with our tax money yet our own people in the bush dieing. For years the Taxpayer has paid for missions to help fallen and 3rd party countries when our city is now a 3rd world country
