Looks like this is one of the finest last recordings - showcasing the Duo, thanks to Ramakrishnan and Madhuradhwani team. Nice to see my violin guru Ganesh Prasad ji.
Aum Shanti 🙏🏼🕉🙏🏼 Dr D Seshachary, praying for the musician's sadgati.
    *****************************
Firebrand Carnatic singer Dr Seshachari passed away yesterday aged 66y. Late Seshachari was the strongman of the Duet; known for his robust, deep, resonant voice, and crisp swara prastaras. He was younger of the "Hyderabad Brothers" as they were professionally called, D. Raghavachari and D. Seshachari (1957-2024), who were a Carnatic music singing duo. He had his initial formal training from his father Daroor Ratnamacharyulu.
Though the duo were from Hyderabad - it was not until they "proved" their mettle to the Sabha secretaries of Chennai [formerly Madras] that the singers became a household name in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and other states where Karnataka Sastreeya Sangeeta is popular. Hyderabad Brothers maintained that music should usher in happiness, and they contributed a lot in this space.
The Hyderabad Brothers stood out having fine-tuned the art of projecting their sweetly synchronised supplementing voices and their crisp interpretations of Carnatic music in a popular and also knowledgeable framework, to deliver effective kutcheris or concerts.
I was quite influenced by this sub-genre, I went on to learn from his London-based brother, for a few years, Shri Sampathkumar Charya way back in 2006. A link to a Javali rendition - Nee Mataley Mayanura by the Hyderabad Brothers, a composition of Pattabhiramayya.
On a sad note, The brothers must have received the Madras Academy's "Sangitha Kalanidhi" award when the Duo performed actively to have added relevance to the music, the academy and the award.
The state and Central governments must do more to remove regionalism, lack of opportunities and absence of formal careers for classical musicians. Too little money, institutional support/resources, career paths and concerts to be shared by far too many talents has killed the pride and professionalism of the classical music field; hence musicians are being pushed to the more popular Film and Fusion genres to earn a living.

I pray for a longer Sangeetha sewa by his Brother Daroor Raghavachari. The late singer last performed 4 weeks ago on January 30, 2024 🙏🏼🕉🙏🏼

The legendary Hyderabad brothers Sri Raghavachari and Sri Seshachari are well known to the Rasikas about the fact and reality that their music is Pure, Divine,Traditional மனதை ஈர்க்கும் kritis . The accompanying artists have added their valuable support to both the brothers.

Very unfortunate to loose Seshachari garu today. We truly miss him. This may be his last appearance on stage. Great loss to Carnatic world. He visited our house many times and our daughter was fortunate to learn from him. RIP Seshachari garu.

Musicians of such stature should be playing with likes of UKS, Trivandrum Balaji or Ananthakrishnan. The percussionist responses play an important part in pushing these senior level musicians to higher levels of creativity. Playing a wonderful thaniavartanam is one thing, but they should push buttons appropriately while accompanying the kritis, an art that's dying quickly. It's like a duel between India and Australia compared to a India Bangladesh match. the intensity and the level of gamesmanship is night and day.

Don't understand the recent trend of turning serious concerts into fun music lesson for his students. Certainly not fun for serious listeners.
