    HELLO MGA KA-RETINOIDS!
First, adding in an erratum here: Adapalene is NOT an OTC drug but a prescription drug. So kailangan talaga ng derma to use it. For tretinoin, while they require an Rx for Retin-A, it's available "OTC" in products like Maxi Peel or RDL Babyface. Still, for both medications, I'd play it safe and consult a derm.
Second, I just want to emphasize that while retinols are the least irritating out of the three, posibleng-posible pa rin ma-irritate nang malala from them, especially since higher concentrations are available in the market. I don't think tama yung word choice ko when I said they were the "gentlest"-might have been my experience kasi maingat ako (i.e. 3x a week ko lang ginamit + i moisturize a LOT) but it could be completely different for you. So be careful!
Third, an additional piece of advice for those na interesadong gumamit ng any type of retinoids:
Using retinoids takes A LOT of time; and by A LOT, I mean it takes MONTHS before makita mo yung final results ng ginagamit mo. Hindi mo makikita ang results agad-agad.
Like I said, after the adjustment phase na ilang weeks, kailangan mo pa siya gamitin consistently (not necessarily araw-araw basta consistent per week, depending on how many times a week prinescribe ng derm sayo). Tanong niyo pa yung mga gumagamit sa comments. Sure ako ang dami-dami ng mga pinagdaanan niyan. Hahahaha
So remember to consider this if you want to use retinoids! Patience patience patience and THINK LONG TERM ❤️ Great skin takes time, mga baccla!
Anyway, let me know your experience and thoughts! 💕

    • @billyjoesarangelo1608

      Good content as always!
To be honest I don't have a personal experience with Retinoids because its one of the most tricky ingredients to use in skincare and also because I have oily, combo sensitive skin so my skin easily flares up from very potent actives.
But I am planning to start my retinol journey soon because I'm in my late 20s na so kailangan na natin labanan ang aging skin soon 🤣
Based on my research naman, The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane is also a good choice for Vitamin A beginners.
Para sa mga ka retinoid nating bagets jan, you don't necessarily need to use Retinoids because sobrang bilis pa ng cell turn over ng mga balat nyo. But if you're experiencing severe acne, its still always best to consult a board certified dermatologist to prescribe what vitamin A product would work for you instead of buying over the counter retinoids. ☺️

Both adapalene and retinol work similarly. They’re both anti-acne and anti aging. Adapalene is better for anti acne and retinol is better for anti aging. Best to apply both at night and be very careful what you mix them with. If possible, don’t use any other products with it, maybe only a moisturizer. Avoid using vit C or any acids with retinol or adapalene. Check your cleanser and make sure na acid free at walang vit C. Avoid toners just to be on the safe side kasi minsan may vit C and acids din minsan. Better to just use a mild cleanser, then apply retinol, then moisturize after a few minutes if needed. Also, you can use both adapalene and retinol together to get their full benefits only if your skin can take them both together without irritation. You can use your toners and vit C’s and acids and serums in the morning. Just make sure to apply sunscreen every 2 to 3 hrs throughout the day.

Tip on using Tretinoin: apply your moisturizer first (after washing your face), let it sit for 20-30 mins then put a pea size amount of Tretinoin on top. The moisturizer serves as a buffer without reducing the potency of Tretinoin. Voila no irritation!

I had to talk to myself all the time and say that this is just a phase and I know that my skin will get better after time. And youre atleast under the guidance of a dermatologist which is great when I wasn't. And you both know more about what is really happening. Just continue the routine. And try to talk to yourself alot about the positive that is about to come. That is what I did. But boy did I cry so much back then hahaha. Expect things to get better at your 4th month. the mechanism of action of adapalene is very different from tretinoin and retinol, so it's more for acne than anti-aging, and adapalene also has a less irritating effect. tretinoin and retinol, however, are similarly, so the level of irritation and adjustment is just about the same. please don't think that retinol is in any way "gentle" you guys...ansakit nyan pag nasobrahan :((

Appreciate your emphasis on this! Medyo nadala and na-mix up ko siguro ang terms because when I spoke about retinol ang nasa mind ko was just the 0.2% in squalane. But I do recognize that it should be dealt with more caution because higher percentages of retinol are readily available in the market. Thanks as always for your input ☺️💓

My skincare routine is: Cleanse(Cetaphil), Tone(No alcohol), Moisturize(Luxxe Organic Aloe vera) then Sunscreen(Quickfx) in the morning; Cleanse, tone, moisturize then GT bleaching cream(Hydroquinone+Tretinoin) or Luxxe organic exfoliator(GT and Luxxe I use alternately every night) is my night routine. Is it a good routine? Should I change some products? What can I add to make it more effective? Btw what I'm treating is acne and acne scars.

I used tretinoin for a couple of years (as in nung HS ka pa and we could have talked about it then) and it worked for my acne (dunno if you noticed the bad breakout I had), though I was prescribed other things by my derma. Being prescribed tretinoin also started my use of sunscreen (I was in my early 20s and I’m in my 30s now). My skin looked great until it got sensitized to the product (I broke out badly again last year lang) so I was prescribed Epiduo Forte (adapalene+benzoyl peroxide), which I use sparingly now since my skin isn’t super problematic these days. I only comment on your channel. Nagsulat ako ng essay ano ba lol. I give your channel and A+ charot. Your explanations are friendly and lucid. Congrats and keep it up!

For the record, was actually on Epiduo Forte as well but naubusan ako so now I'm just using my leftover Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide tubes together as advised my my derma hahaha. Totally did not notice that you even had breakouts before! Thanks again for watching! Rule of thumb if you have dry skin look for cream based moisturizer, and for oily skin look for gel/water based moisturizer. Because gel/water based tends to evaporate with the presence of air making your skin more dehydrated. So if you incorporate tretinoin sa skincare mo you better use cream based moisturizer.

I asked my derma if I can use retinoids/retinol sabi nya pwede naman but mag start daw kmi sa mababa. She didnt prescribed me with retinol, she prescribed me with azaleic acid. I thought I wont get the same effect or wont see results na inaasahan ko from retinoids. But to my surprise, my skin is now better. After daw ng azaleic acid and pag nasanay na skin ko sa active ingredient pwede na mag start ng retinol sa mababang percentage. ❤️

I have oily acne prone skin, and malalking pimple tumutubo sakin before, but now wala na masyado (Thank God) meron paminsan minsan pero di na as bad as before. And yung mga acne scars ko at pores di na ganun ka halata, lalo na yung skin texture ko sa may forehead na part. I’m really glad na my derma prescribed tretinoin to me.
