I just got my bakers creek 2020 seed catalog and on the back they have a picture of the national heirloom expo on it. Guess who they caught looking around????? You guessed it ! None other than John Koler!!
That's why I got into herbalism learning and teaching about the weeds under our feet... I believe our medicine grows around us... Some weeds in peoples gardens that grow like crazy matches some one in that houses health
@@ThahnG413 weeds are just a plant out of place... Most weeds are invasive depending on your meaning of them... I find ones that grow like crazy that are edible or medical suit the needs of some one close... Every time I see it I laugh.... But I shouldn't cuz they try to distroy it in every way... I've helped garden for people and feel frustrated saying you should eat it I get many diff faces back lol
There is a chiropractic place that specialized in joint swelling issues that I used to walk by all the time. It blew me away that all year long stinging nettle was growing in abundance all around the building. They always seem to pull it out and it would always grow back.
Hate to bust everyone's bubble but a big garden has been part of my life. Over 50 years. People in my life usually give lots of veggies away because everyone grows to much. So your absolutely right but this is common in most of the world. Keep it up bro good vid
How wonderful! They should get a Microgreens kit from Larry and set it up in the restaurant! That would be cool too! We need something like this in Tacoma! So many people in need here and many community gardens.
Wow this is so cool I used to live there I now live in Pueblo west Colorado but visit Fort Collins once a year I will definitely check out this place thanks so much for sharing
@@seedaholicgardens9085 I like to donate them to the food bank they run a community garden too... this seed box idea would be cool in that garden then everyone has access to the seeds they want and it will give others the ideas

@@seedaholicgardens9085 great idea... Getting the planting time can be tricky but there is lots of information out there... I cover my cold loving veggies like kale up with plastic and it will grow until the snow comes works great... Sprouts and micro greens are cool too pea shoots will tolerate some cold... But sprouts or greens can easily grow in windows too... Good luck
Just grow and eat fresh seasonal food like all of our ancestors did. period. Also dry the herbs in the csfe=ambiance and herbal tea mix.Or chop and freeze the herbs in icecube form or flat in storage bags break off pieces to use allwinterlong for brightnessin the winter menus. have smallpots in the windowa inside as well on thetables too!Lots of ways to use those herbs!
I don’t recommend oil sugar or salts but I find blending green juice with fruits ppl accept it more because the sweetness from fruits ppl like it and add all the greens 🥬 inside with the fruit juice people don’t feel they are drinking greens 🥬 they feel they are drinking fruit juice
I think there are more places like this in Rural America. In Blue Ridge Ga. the community has a Food Pantry. Everything is free, it’s a place where you can get fresh organic grown food (www.feedfannin.com) during the summer, and the local grocery stores donate food and supplies, you can wash your cloths, and take a shower, get clean cloths. The Family Connection runs the Pantry. All was paid for by donations and government loans were paid off.
John, my wife and I have been followers and fans for years. As a gardener, you have been an inspiration. I suggest, however, that you leave the field of economics to the capitalists that have led our nation to be the most prosperous in the history of the world. Unless you are willing to sell your juicers and t-shirts at cost, or even give them away to those that can't afford it, you really shouldn't be suggesting that restaurants and/or farmers should be giving away or underpricing their products. I'll also remind you of a video that you produced not to long ago wherein you stated that you rarely gave away any of your produce because you used it all. I have no problem with that stance. I'd keep most of mine if I could store it, but, lacking a freeze dryer, I give most of my crops away. The point is, however, that I am not doing it out of guilt. Nor should anybody else. If you want to be altruistic, more power to you. In the end, it must be your decision.

I don't know much about the medicinal purposes and all but weeds definetley should be thought of as crops as long as they are edible

Weeds are so underrated... If people would look at 'weeds' the same way they do mints and herbs they would see they have so many benefits!
@@christycoalson36 that's exactly how they started out as herbs and food...
