My dad grew up in the Bronx and this is his favorite Chan movie partially because of how obviously not shot in the Bronx it was. I remember the first night we rented it on VHS how he would alternate between being all into the fight scenes or laughing about mountains in the background and stuff. Fun night.
I need to watch this again, now that I've lived in Vancouver for a decade and will likely recognize Vancouver landmarks. Also I had the Bart Simpson "underachiever and proud of it" t-shirt as a kid, and my mom was *not* pleased and didn't let me wear it to school (she was a teacher lol)
My favorite part of the Jackie Chan cartoon was the short interview he would do at the end of the episodes. Remember him describing being at his first Hollywood event among big stars and being amazed by all the famous people. Robin Williams was Jackie's favorite actor and was completely star struck when Robin started talking to him about how much he liked Jackie's movies. Jackie was embarrassed and just nodded, while in his head the entire time he wanted to say Robin your the best actor ever way better then me lolz 😂 Pretty sure that's a Jamaican hat, it's big and puffy in order to stuff long dreadlocks onto
I saw this come up on my podcast app and thought “wtf, why are they talking about a good movie this week,” and then I had a flash of ego death in which I understood the falseness of my underlying premise, as there is no such thing as a bad movie.
Am I taking crazy pills or something? I feel like you haven't done the "pick your favorite thing" bit in like a year and a half and all the sudden you're pretending it's still a thing.
Oh man, just got nostalgic for the tape trading days after Colin's story. heh heh Great episode!

Oh can't wait. The woodchipper/garbage bag scene was traumatic for me as a little kid watching a fun martial arts movie with my dad.
