Good tier list. Yeah poor Tangerine. Just got it last year and it's already obsolete. It is the only cc to give actual cashback too. I will definitely keep triangle WE in mind when I do start paying utilities.
I’m sticking to 4 cards - Rogers as main; Simplii for restaurants; Scotia Momentum for Groceries and free installments; Canadian Tire for bill payments
Nice job! I think a bit harsh on BMO CB WE, given roadside assistance, and that if you do the math, even with 500 grocery cap, it still comes out to avg 4% when spending up to 650, so matching Momentum. Small note: you are using Infinite Privilege images when talking about BMO and TD Visa Infinite cards.
LOL should have been more careful with the images. I agree with you about the roadside assistance. But if you can get BMO CB WE, then you should be able to qualify for Triangle WE which is free and has a better roadside assistance package.
TD Aeroplan card is great when paired with the cobalt to funnel all purchases to aeroplan points, use the cobalt everywhere possible and the TD where amex isnt taken - IMO should be ranked much higher as it usually has great welcome bonus
Thats what I want to do, tons of aeroplan and you get the free bags. Also paired with westjet mastercard with costco so all major canadian airlines are covered.
Hey Lispman, did you see ? The BRIM MC cards are dead now. The best card setup right now is : 1. MBNA RE WE MC for Grocery stores and restaurants 2. Rogers WE MC everywhere else that takes credit card 3. Triangle WE for Roadside Assistance and bill payments 4. Wealthsimple Cash Card for foreign purchases
Nope I didn't see until I read your comment! The definition of destroying a perfectly good credit card...:( wow...read the card description now. A complete disaster...the new Brim Series HAS to be the first F Tier now
@@lispmanfinance Only use of the brim is perhaps their market store now, got 16% cashback at decathlon for instance. But yes, they killed the 0% foreign fee appeal to 1.5% instead a couple months ago. The free card went from 1% on all to 0.5% on all purchases. Really unfortunate.
Nice video as always! For the RBC Avion card though, what do you think of combining this card with the RBC Ion+? From the calculations I’ve looked at, this seems to be even comparable the Cobalt in terms of value, as Avion points are worth a lot when it comes to the RBC redemption schedule.
Honestly the ion+ seems decent in value, especially if you are already with RBC and they are refunding you 48 dollars for the annual fee. Better gas rates at Petro Canada….honestly don’t hate it. Certainly better than the Avion that’s for sure.
Great content, I like it! So far, I have AMEX Cobalt (since this September), CIBC Platinum and Infinite (was an update after 2 years). As I'm European, I have a Wise, but I'm looking for one with no foreign transaction fee, as I spend a few months in a year in Europe 😉 Maybe a Scotiabank Passport Visa or one of the Mastercard World Elite.
It all depends on what you're doing with it, and how much you're travelling. If you're just FOTSG (Fly Once To See Grandma) then none of the Aeroplan cards are very good for you. If you're a road warrior who holds 75k or SE status with Air Canada, the equation changes. I just signed up for the Visa Infinite Privilege card because it allows me to roll over up to 200,000 SQM and makes my eUpgrades last 2 years rather than 1. But I'm SE, and flying some 150,000 to 175,000 miles a year on Air Canada and partner airlines.
Great review. Neo Financial has just launched their World Elite Mastercard offering 5% cashback for groceries, and Costco purchases are considered groceries. Can you include this card in your part 2?
The BMO VISA infinite privilege is a top-tier card better than any other listed on your video, I think you choose the wrong picture for theit lower infinite version on 4:32.
Seems to favor Amex but most places in Canada they don't except Amex and that sucks. what's the point right. TD Aeroplan if you keep minimum $ 5000 in account year around then there is no annual fee and you get all inclusive bank account too, worth mentioning that. Not lot of banks gives benefits based on minimum balance in account. Any ways good comparison of lots of different cards.
Another great video, Eric, Many Thanks. Channel is growing very fast & many congrats..!!! Eric, Is "Rogers Red world elite Mastercard offers 3 % for everything or only offer 3% redeeming points for paying Rogers or Fido bills ? ( Assuming that you are a Rogers wireless customer ). I am bit confused. Thank you
Just redeeming for Rogers/shaw/fido bills. Sorry wasn’t too clear on that. But for most middle class families, a 45 dollar Rogers bill is 1500 in spendings per month. Which is almost like 3% for everything since you’re going to want to redeem all points towards your rogers bill first. Also, thanks for your long time support!
Great video. Where would you rank the CIBC AP Infinite (non-premium)? If compared to the Dividend Infinite and which would you pair with an AMEX cobalt?
It's also 3% cash back on US currency purchases, so amazing for travelling with. If you are a Rogers or Shaw customer, as of April 9th, you get 2% cash back on all purchases with the card. And there is no cap on that amount like there is with other cash back cards and you can redeem for cash or credit any time you want (unlike Scotia Momentum, which is once a year I think). PLUS, there is no annual fee for this card! I have had this card for years and won't use any other card. It's just too good.
@@2close2cawl Yeah I was aware of its great benefits ! I just received the card today , how would it work on April 9th ,I assume you'll have to link the card online ?
@@iNinjutsuu "Your use of your credit card account or your credit card after April 9, 2024 will mean that you have accepted these changes and agree that Rogers may share information to Rogers Bank to enable the linking and 2% eligibility assessment." Congratulations on the 10k subs! I am wondering what is the reasoning behind putting the MBNA WE MC in the A tier? From the other video I thought it looked like it was a better option than the Scotiabank Momentum to use for bills not including the rent? Or was I mistaken? Also what is the best go to daily credit card? Not high purchases, just a daily credit card to use like in the mall etc. that's not in the resto, gas, grocery category?
Thank you for your support! MBNA is certainly better for regular recurring bills like Phone/Internet/Netflix etc. But Rent is by far the biggest expense in a person's budget. Phone/Internet/Subscription costs like 200-300? Rent in general costs at least 1-2K. Even more...Mathematically, Scotiabank momentum Infinite is a much more important card if you're renting and it really isn't even close. For daily purchase, I would suggest Rogers Mastercard if you're a Rogers customer. Or Cobalt Card which was basically my daily spender.
You deserve it! You give so much value. Yes I am getting the Rogers WE MC and I'm just waiting on my Cobalt as well. 😊 But we do have a mortgage so unfortunately we cannot make use of the Chexy. Do you know if I can charge utilities/car/home insurance on the MBNA just like the Scotia?
Sorry for late reply! Yes, some insurance companies allow you to pay via credit card. But most don't unfortunately. But for the ones that do, it's 4% cashback on Scotia!
No don't be sorry. It should be me thanking you for your time to read my comment and reply. Decided to go for Scotia Momentum and Rogers Mastercard and it's all because of your informative videos. Thank you! @@lispmanfinance
I think you’re making a mistake with the Scotia bank Amex because you can actually exchange your scène point in a good way if you trade them for any travel expense you had on your statement . Also it gives 3 % on gas no the cobalt . Also 5-6 % on groceries . I would rank it better then the cobalt card if it weren’t for the Aeroplan trick .
Honestly it's pretty meh imo. Cobalt card is 10x better. Heck, I can name 10 cards that's better. The only thing it's got going for it is the 1.5% base cashback. But if you own a Cobalt Card, the base rewards is worth at least 1.5% depending on how you use aeroplan. And for Rogers Mastercard....it's 2% if you own a Rogers product. Realistically more like 3%. So I don't like Desjardins WE value.
Hey man can you make a video of your suggested credit card stack you use yearly. Eg credit card a for grocery purchases, credit card b for gas purchases, credit card c for property taxes!!!!
I am going to buy 2 return tickets from india, which card do you think i can apply….so that i can get the max cash back for welcome offer….tickets gonna cost from 4000 to 5000$….

For CAD, it's 2% + 50% more if you redeem for Rogers/Shaw/Fido services. That's basically 3%. For most people, your Rogers/Fido/Shaw phone/internet bills is going to be over 45 dollars. That's 1500 in spendings. You're going to be using ALL Your cashback on your Rogers bills. That's a 3% cashback right there.
