I LOVE content creators that don't do TH-cam full-time. I find it difficult to connect with creators who only do TH-cam, that life seems unrealistic and far fetched to me. Its motivating seeing other people go through the same career struggles as me, and it inspires me seeing you do so well in your professional life, even if that means we don't get weekly videos sometimes. :)
Agree. People with life outside youtube just feels more genuine to me because they’re not too forced to create content just for the sake of creating content and getting something out for youtube.
I completely understand how it feels to have Imposter Syndrome but always remember, people watch your vlogs for you. no one else can do the things you do like you. You are one of my favorite creators and honestly, it's you as a person and you deserve everything that comes your way just being you.
I definitely agree with this! I started watching her as I got hired on the job I re applied to this year! She became my guide on how to somehow balance out personal and work life. To be able to keep my hobbies and to not forget to connect with family and friends.
thank you for being so vulnerable and opening up about imposter syndrome! i feel it all the time at work because all my coworkers are older and more senior but it's so great that you have a supportive team to help you through it 😊 also i would love more introspective vlogs from you (please make it a series!!)
Petition to make this topic to be your next podcast episode 🥹 i think everyone or a lot of people would resonate with this topic. And to be honest, we also want to hear james’ hot takes on this matter too. And can i just say that im in my “sarah pan” era right now? I sincerely wanna hear all your thoughts on things that matter, also james’ too.
i’m also a software engineering with imposter syndrome and aspiring content creator so i found this video super relatable and also inspiring that it’s really possible !! thank you for sharing parts of your life 😊
every video you post is so thoughtful and your viewers know just how much work and time you put into your vids!! talking about imposter syndrome and being on a more personal level can only allow you and the viewers to grow closer
Sarah you are so kind…really sweet and down to earth. If a random person walked up to me and started talking about seeing my TH-cam content, I’d honestly freak out inside. Be careful about that because people think they have a right to you just because you put out content. You have an expected right to your privacy too and I hope people respect that.
I absolutely LOVE watching your vlogs and I just want to tell you there's at least one person out here who really really looks up to you. Your little pie chart in one of your recent videos made me re-think how I want to dedicate my time to things outside of school and work. It's great you're not a full-time creator so you can offer such perspective to someone who in general leads a busy life. It's easy to make videos on this is how you should manage your time and energy but the fact that you show it all and radiate such calm energy when doing it is something else. Thank you so much for this and keep vlogging! ❤❤
I don't know how prevalent imposter syndrome is, I can only tell you I had it too. Three times - military, college and career. Each time, I worked twice as hard as everyone else, and became the best at what I do. You are not alone. Thank you for the vlog.
you're amazing, sarah! i rewatch old videos when u don't have new uploads and it's totally okay! take your time to create content that you personally enjoy as well
I struggle with imposter syndrome all the time. Especially when I’m starting something new in any aspect of my life. Also the motivation part was so needed! Thanks for those encouraging words! ❤
BABE your feelings are totally valid in experiencing imposter syndrome in the content creator space, but also YOU'RE bringing something to the brand that's unique and desireable when they invite you to their events! i know it might feel like a gift completely, but they're getting something out of it too when you attend their events, and they wouldn't invite you if you weren't a good investment for them! get that bread, or whatever 😂
Girl!!!! Life is all so relative - you feel imposter syndrome around FT content creators meanwhile other smaller creators are looking up to AND rooting for you. You've clearly worked so hard to get where are you now so OWN it and allow all of the blessings to come into your life :)
I started off as an intern at my company and I got promoted 2 and half years in. I'm not the most qualified but they knew that since the beginning, and I always have to remind myself that my code doesn't have to be perfect and they know I'm the least experienced. Having a manager that believes in you is the best. Just have to constantly affirm yourself that you are capable, u will probably hit walls multiple times throughout the journey but you are still gaining experience
*eating a cream cheese danish while watching you eat a danish after an 11 hour (about to be 13-14 hour) workday* WE ARE ENOUGH!!! We are good at what we do and do not need to be perfect 💜 we deserve to be promoted ~manifesting~ this for us lol
YES to having imposter syndrome😭 I really struggle with self confidence and receiving (or simply perceiving) criticism. I’m trying to work on it though. It’s tough! I’m so inspired by your videos!
Oh my Goodness! I visited NYC two weeks ago and I was praying I’d see you (but sadly didn’t) so I love hearing your experience and sister motivation!! The Princeton reunion was too cute and thanks for the imposter syndrome talk because I have been talking with my manager for several months about getting promoted on my 4 year (one year behind you) anniversary and I was expecting a call Friday but didn’t get it :( granted it’s still possible but I got it into my own head it would be Friday LOL. I love the darth Vader moment because that is always me I’m SO happy you were invited to head in the clouds!!! That’s awesome!!! Love you and James! You deserve everything!!!! 💜💜💜
I also suffer from Impostor Syndrome, so don’t feel alone Sarah! I recently graduated in CS and the job market is in a terrible state so as a result I feel as if I’m not good enough since I don’t have a job. Being asked by countless family and friends about job prospects and having to let them know I don’t have anything right now and the “Oh…” that always follows. Apologies for the mini-rant.
I definitely go through big stretches of imposter syndrome, both in and out of work, but I think that as a positive, it gives me a reason to keep pushing improving. I’m also trying to work on embracing new opportunities and being grateful for them. The life long struggle 😅
I am literally dying at how you inserted the footage from the darth vader picnic like I thought you and James were being dramatic but oh no you really weren't 😂😂😂
I honestly would rather wait more for your videos (even though I love them) than you being exploted to upload all the time. You also need to live your life!! Alsoo if you live your life your videos will seamlessly be more interesting (honestly as they already are.) Just commenting cause I get the urge to post but honestly your videos are always calming, motivating and uplifting I just wouldn’t want you to feel like you always need to post! ❤ it’s ok. Live your life
woahh are you class of 2019 as well? and loved your thoughts on imposter syndrome - glad to hear that you've been able to change your internal monologue to be a bit more positive though
I kinda feel some imposter syndrome on occasion, people I know treat me like a rockstar sometimes and I'm certainly not, that said its nice to be treated that way by others regardless 😎
I'm 42, I've been working in my profession for 15 years. I've had a lot of success' I'm a mentor for others in my field and I still sort of think that somehow I've been faking it the entire time and someone is going to find out. So, yeah. It's very common.
Have you read Gorrick Ng’s “The Unspoken Rules”? Lots of white collar advice that never gets given to minorities (like immigrant kids parents don’t usually have big tech corporate jobs in the 80’s) it’s really interesting how it may impact young professionals
we love you.. Sarah.. if at some point I bump into you and James up here in Brooklyn I'll say hi.. but seriously Sarah.. Sarah.. this is my little pep talk to you, don't compare yourself to other content creators, you are doing are great a job. I know at times can be challenging with working full-time & having a YT channel, but always remember you're WHY? Let that be your North Star as you navigate thru life as a content creator & life in general. Discover you're WHY! be in the moment, have fun and please don't wear that Darth Vader look to a picnic.. 😂😂😂 just kidding.. just kidding.. wear whatever you want
Imposter syndrome is really someone who is naturally a perfectionist and struggles with being ok with an output that’s not perfect or the best it can possibly be. Not sure why we need to tell ourselves or associate ourselves as imposters.
I personally don't understand IP. If I've developed skills and achieve results with these skills, then why am I an impostor? It's honest work. Ranking people as more successful and smarter... well, it's always been that way in the world. Someone is surely looking at me and thinking 'she knows and can do so much,' while I might look at others and think 'they are so amazing at what they do,' but that doesn't make me feel inferior. They are separate, and I am separate. There are too many different lives to try to measure up to everyone and chase all the titles.
You create content, good content. I’d say that makes you a content creator not an imposter. You deserve seen as one, invites and pay to go along with it. 🙂🫶🏽 sell that pottery girl!

I love how James corrected you and told you told that you're an amazing vlogger because you definitely are ❤

If you think you have imposter syndrome, it means you maybe on the list for next lay off.
How’s moose??!?!🫎
My friend @aplusalyssa made it on the vlog!
