It really is a just the font/color in the thumbnail playing a barely noticable small trick on many of our eyes, but it has given me a new headcanon as to why Bruce had to make sure he always had pants that never tore specifically at the crotch, as well as new completely wrong and immature reasons to laugh at the phrase "HULK SMASH!"

River Lovell I mean I haven’t really ranked my hulks but I’d am both She-Hulk and Doc Samson have a lot going for them so it comes down to personal preference more than them being good or bad characters. Like some characters are badly written and you have to look past that to like them but both or them have defined personalities and different enough circumstances from the hulk to stand on their own.

I recently read his first appearance, and I agree with your view on Samson. Some fans thought it was bad writing/decision-making on Bruce's part, but the man had to have been traumatized during the years spent as the Hulk. Banner went from being hunted by just about everyone to completely ignored. Samson should have been focused entirely on Banner once Betty was cleared. We still have an MCU version of Samson waiting to get an origin story.

I first learned of Doc Samson when he was a side character in X-Factor for one issue. He had a session with each team member. We got little of him, but got a lot of character depth from the team.
I think he is a little underused in the Marvel Universe, considering he could help heroes and (imprisoned) villains and won‘t get killed the first time a superpowered patient acts up.
Sadly this won‘t get better because of the static nature of superhero universes

I didn't learn about Samson until I really got into comics in late 80s, and Hulk had just turned from Grey to his "Professor" phase. Peter David really expanded on the whole psychology of Banner, and used Samson as a Therapist should be used (Although anytime he tried his hand at some sort of heroics, it usually ended badly for the good doctor). I loved that in Hulk 393 (30th anniversary issue) there was a paper on Banner's personality disorder/history, written by Samson (David Obviously), I love insights into characters like that.

I am a big fan of this story line and Doc Samson, I think they hit all the notes right of how an at first a boring side character can matter over time (which is one of the great thing about the whole form) and how, then, a character who matters as a man of science--medicine--god gifted but otherwise worldly and arrogant--can rise so as to become a classic arch villain--or, in some better minority of cases--an unlikely hero like the man Dr. Stephen Strange was before the accident. But that at that point that character achieves its "legend." So I love that old tale. Thanks for reminding us of it.

The Psychiatrist to the Hulk angle would be great for a Hulk Disney+ show set in Endgame's 5-year time gap, and it could be a psychological thriller show that explains how Bruce and Hulk...worked out their differences.

Thank you for this show. Next to Hulk vs the Thing this was my favorite. I must confess I was 11 and I never read them but only looked at the pictures. And the drawing of the Hulk was perfect. Samson really caught my eye as well with his build and the flashy suit..Just looking at some of the pictures again had brought back memories and feelings I haven’t experienced since I first saw the comic. And your a great host so it was very entertaining. Thank you again.

Man when i wad a kid i always liked doc samson just because by the time i read him he seemed like a level headed guy with hulk strength and he was intelligent all the things I hoped for in the hulk when i was a kid.... i cant remember if i ever read him with the type of voice you gave him in my mind... i mean that was hillarious!!!

Doc Samson is actually one of those characters I wish would be adapted more often. There's a lot of Hulk supporting cast with gamma powers, but his is unique in that he only got a comparable tiny bit and is still superhuman enough to fight Hulk.

Love the character after they made him first Hulk's and then the superhero community's therapist. Wish he'd appear more. Hate that they took away his strength being tied to hair length.

I love the good Doctor. After his recent resurrection, he was shown listening to Leonard Cohen's Songs Of Love And Hate. One of my favorite albums. Also, many years ago, Peter David made Doc Samson's character Jewish. I thought that made him more interesting. Imagine Samson having Larry David as a patient.

Have you ever read "X-aminations" in X-Factor?
Spoiler alert: Samson's in it, psychoanalyzing the team in the aftermath of "X-cutioner's Song". It's a good story. I recommend it.
Another recommendation: that story in one of Marvel's Holiday specials where Samson tries explaining Haunakkah (?) to some schoolkids--and they don't make it easy for him. 😄
(Also, apologies for misspelling Haunakkah. Twice... 😳)

Anything by Peter David is usually good but that issue is not only one of my favorite X-Factor issues from David's run, it's one of my favorite one-and-done issues of comics ever. It's so, so good.

I love how everyone who got Gamaray based power got the better of it (even that villain with the big head) except Banner. She-Hulk doesn’t have an alter ego, Samson neither , Ross neither , Abomination neither , and even Amadeus Cho was still himself when he became Hulk

If I remember right Sampson wasn't even 100 ton lifting class (based on Marvel Universe Update). I believe he was like 70 ton class. I think Hulk started around 80 and got stronger, which was why Abomination could start off whooping on him because he was 100 ton class straight off, but then as the Hulk grew angry he outclassed him. So Sampson was never as strong as the Hulk at default, unless his powers upgraded over the years.
