Thanks for the info on disengaging the brake! No need to change the clips though. And it's easier to just remove the one top caliper bolt and use the other one as a hinge to swing it open. That way you don't need to hang it.

That is so true and a great perspective on the tools. I brought my truck in 2018 for service and again. The rear brake pads were shot. So what did they want? $600 for pads Pat's only. So I'm a sucker for OEM parts. I went to the parts counter, Bought the pads slapped them in under 15. 20 minutes it took me longer to take the wheels off and Jack the truck up... honestly. It's frustrating when these dealers want to gouge you. When they quoted me that price I was thinking to myself. Is that for all four corners no just the rear pads ok I'll do them myself

@@DukesofoffroadHazzard, it’s nice to be able to still do some work on these new cars yet in order to save a few dollars here and there. There’s not much we can do on our own anymore with all the tech built into these things.
Tell me about it! I hate having to take my stuff to the shop to have $400 in parts and $3000 labor 🤦♂️ I’m pretty dang mechanical and have bought so many tools yet still can’t do much with out subscriptions and computer systems 😭

So the park brake maintenance mode just disappears....it doesn't actually say park brake maintenance mode released....it should just go away

Did the dealership ask you to get your rotors resurfaced? I’m about 46k and the rear brakes need to be replaced and the rotors need “need to be resurfaced”. 2019 Ford Expedition
Just now seeing this eric I’m sorry, no I didn’t need to resurface them…they were still smooth and no chatter or anything when breaking! New pads worked great! Now for the fronts different story! I used ceramic coated pads on the old rotors and they still chattered really bad when breaking…got new ceramic rotors..it’s now fixed and crazy smooth when breaking! Hope this helps

Great video! I have changed brake pads before on my vehicles, but had no clue about the Brake Maintenance Mode. You saved me some headaches. I would have tried the wind back method. Did my 2019 Exped Limited today.
Oh, by the way, you don't have to take the caliper off. Just take off the top bolt and the caliper swings out. Makes it even easier.

Man, you saved my ass. I had a 6” C-clamp torqued up as much as possible and couldn’t get that damn piston to move a bit. The stupid Ford Maintenance Mode thing makes no sense, but you hacked around it. Thanks!

I work at a ford dealership I had to do rear brakes on a 18 expedition they work cake took me half hour brought it and around 11:30 and was done before lunch

My dad always told me to buy tools whenever possible because you may not use them right now but you most likely will need them later when all stores are closed. Plus either buying the right tools ( if you can afford them) or make them. Which if you’ve had a older General Motors 4x4 truck they required a special tool to remove the front bearings that looked like a big socket with tits on it, well we were poor so we made them from heavy wall pipe and then welded the tits on it and also a piece of flat bar fit inside the pipe with a 1/2” square hole for impacts and ratchets PS Great video as always buddy

I put the cross drilled rotors and pads on the 1fitty and it made a huge difference..
Yeah I’m planning on doing the same thing once these rotors warp!!! We drive severe grades Everyday to and fro work,,,,and then a gnarly grade when we pin out to the desert!!! What rotors and pads you go with?
