  • After spending a week in Granada, I decided it was time to check out the Alhambra. I'd been putting it off since visiting major tourist sites like this can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. The Alhambra is THE thing to see in Granada though so I knew I couldn't miss it. Join me in this vlog as I struggle to navigate my way around this massive fortress. My hope is it will give you a realistic idea of what visiting the Alhambra is like - plus a reason to add Granada, Spain to your travel list!

I spent 10hours hiking the place. I'm a History and nature lover, so I knew I would be spending all day here. Here are my tips, some although obvious, must be mentioned since apparently not obvious for some.
    • wear hiking boots. My hiking boots saved me from excessive pain on my feet. In fact by end of this hike, my entire body was left in pain--except my feet!
    • bring large bottle of water and energy drink
•wear large floppy hat or bring umbrella. The sun will be hitting your entire face for hours. I wore cap---it was not enough.
    • take the taxi up to the entrance. Especially if you have any types of orthopedic surgeries or any bone/muscles/nerve issues. The hike up there is rough. I made the mistake of not taking one thinking it wasn't that bad.
•study the map prior to going, and figure out what you'll visit first prior to your schedule time for the Nazarí palaces (thats near by entrance) depending on what time your ticket says.
•Don't expect to find anyone inside to help you/guide you. The few employees that work there are rude and don't want to be there. Out of 6 workers I spoke to, only 2 were helpful. They are also busy with a line of tourists right behind them.
There will be tour guides that work the area, if your interested in having a guided trip without having to worry about the order of sites etc. But make sure you don't overpay! I know ppl paid up to $90 Euros for the guide for 2ppl and some paid $20 euros for a family of 6!
•the places/sites where they'll scan your passport cannot be visited again! I made the mistake of entering one of the areas near Nazarí Palace where they scanned my passport (I was only there trying to kill time b4 my visit to the palace) and then left and couldn't get back in! This is something they will NOT tell you, and is not listed anywhere!
•the most expensive tickets come with other sites included that are NOT inside the Alhambra which can be visited the next day or the say prior, but this is also something they will NOT tell you🙄

Spring 2024 I will visit Granada with a friend. This is very educational in what not to do. I will send this to him to make clear that we have to prepare this visit well. Thank you for not being ashamed of your mistakes and posting the video anyway.

Thanks for watching! I hope you have a great time in Granada. It's one of my favorites cities in Spain. In terms of places to stay, El Granado Hostel is a MUST if you don't mind staying in a hostel. That's the place I included at the end of the video. :)

Excellent video! Im going next week. I heard that no backpacks were allowed, but I saw several people with backpacks. I want to bring my camera and a few stuff and place it on my backpack. Can you clarify if backpacks are allowed?

They don’t sell tickets at the door… I feel like they should put that in BOLD on their website. I, along with three other couples/families, are among the unfortunate ones who flew to Granada for a day just to see this but didn’t manage - cuz we don’t have tickets 😂😂

90% of the video is you entering and exiting the palace when the video should have been about the palace which you claimed takes hours to explore. 👎🏼

Yes true, thats the problem with vloggers, they simply cant keep the camera away from themselves, thats why as soon as i saw her in the selfie mode, i skipped it..
