I love that they call the fast food chain "the hamburger store" and the sight of Frank's hiding in the toys E.T. style always makes me die, but nowhere nearly as much as the line "Charlie just walked straight inside because he doesn't know what a diversion is" 😂 I'm laughing so much just typing this lol
Nobody talks about how dennis apparently stood on a table at a mcdonalds and gave a speech about saving artifacts motivating the gang to be in such a situation
the scene in the mcpoyle vs ponderosa trail where uncle jack accidentally hurls his giant fake hand across the courtroom while having a panic attack will never ever fail to crack me up
Not saying every episode is absolutely perfect but you can tell they never phone it in and that’s one of the many reasons that makes the show so amazing.
This is honestly to me the greatest achievement of the show, it's consistency. I got into Sunny around season 9 or so and to this day have not watched every episode. Why? Cause there was no reason for me to go in and watch it in any order. I'll just toss on a random episode I know or don't know as the mood takes me and know I'll be entertained.

dennis signing like an angel while looking like a hollowed out ghoul is a FANTASTIC little moment. that is a pretty solid episode, i'd probably put it on my top 20, but holy hell it is hard to narrow down favourites for this show lol
Great video overall. My only real comment is that i think you're missing the point of the jokes when it comes to Carmen. They're never against her for being trans. The jokes are all about Mac's insecurities and the fact that he is actually in the closet, but would never admit it at that point. I think they treated the trans topic incredibly well given the time those episodes came out.
I absolutely love how they present Carmen as a completely normal concept and Mac is the weirdo for thinking it's wrong. This show was way before it's time. Thanks to McElhenney and his personal life.
I think certain aspects of it weren't done the best (which is to be expected, given the time) but as someone says Carmen is never the butt of the joke, Mac is for being weird with it. And as with all stuff in IASIP, it's never done because they (the writers) are hateful, and it's never offensive for offensiveness' sake, it's using offensive characters to shine a light on real issues
I think you can say similar things about the blackface/racial stereotype character scenes. Never are they depicted in a positive light and the other characters are mostly aware of how inappropriate and stupid it is to dress in that manner, so I think streaming services banning the episodes was a massive overreaction.
Honestly, the fact that Carmen is the only person who interacts with the gang more than once and comes out BETTER for it is the nicest thing they've ever done for a character, and they did it for the trans character.
“How Mac Got Fat” will always have a special place in my mind because it was the episode that introduced me to the show. For some reason the bit where Frank accidentally creates a 4 way intersection cracked me up so much!

Yeah, I really liked the gang cracks the liberty bell. Still, this video did a lot to remind me of how amazing this show is, and helped with the fact that a lot of seasons 5-10 has kind of muddled together in my brain

I would have to agree that the list is always changing for me. “Who pooped the bed” was one of the most atrocious episodes when I first watched and now I truly love that episode. Artemis’ speech is golden.
Artemis is an underrated character. That part where Frank is like "She did this thing during our fun time that incorporated part of a bun in the dumpster we were in.." fucking kills me every time.
Frank’s Pretty Woman is by far my favorite episode. The introduction of fat mac, roxy, charlie being a southern millionaire and frank his limo driver, dennis just wanting crack, and of course Tiger Woods. Such a packed episode.
I love the technically difficult episode (Charlie work, Frank POV, Gang goes to he'll part 2) especially given the shows reputation as just an dark comedy

And if you understand the context of the jokes then you’d understand that they did handle the black face really well. There’s a clear difference between menstrual shows and what the gang did.
it might not be my all time favorite episode of the show, but The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6 might be the episode i laughed the hardest at on my first watch, all the lethal weapon episodes are great, there is so much gold packed into those episodes beyond the black face, but that seems to be all anyone mentions when those episodes are brought up for good or bad.
It’s really weird watching these Always Sunny videos and seeing people get offended by certain episodes. They’ll just be praising an episode where a character tries to profit off Nazi memorabilia, then get indignant over how trans people are addressed. It’s just cherry-picked political correctness.

Quick small correction to 1:23:32, there were actually various cuts in the episode, but they're hidden cleverly. For example there are a few shots where the camera pans across a door, or something, which is where they have a cut.
I know my gf and I were trying to decide if it was a single shot, but noticed the very subtle cuts between doorways. Still, the gang is great at what they do and the podcast is so fun
The way you wrote the end was super powerful. Drawing up all those emotions from the moment with Charlie in the rain immediately followed by the shamrock tattoo yelling made me like laugh/cry in a wonderfully releasing way. Thanks for that 🙏
The Gang Solves the Gas crisis and The Gang Gets on Welfare are my two personal favorites and the two episodes I show someone when I’m showing them the show for the first time
It's so interesting how similar and altogether different people's opinions can be. We had several of the same favorite episodes, and the same is true with some of our least favorites. However, "The Gang Spies like U.S." is one of my ALL TIME favorite Always Sunny episodes, and I find myself rewatching it constantly. Charlie, Mac, and Dennis's hushed conversation at Guigino's is perfect. The wordplay and subsequent missunerstanding around what they each mean by "cream pie" is a classic Always Sunny bit (to me). And Charlie struggling to find a good spot for the bugged-plant is another borderline perfect scene. Dee's subplot does drag the episode down a bit, but the cat and mouse game between Charlie/Frank and Dennis/Mac is just what the show does best; take a simple (insane) premise and take it to the extreme.

Number 20!?!? Even without the rest of the funny moments in The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award, the meta plot representing the show's frustration at perennial snubs by the Emmys was brilliant, and Charlies's 2 songs should guarantee that episode a spot in the top 10. Robbed again.
Waiting for Big Mo is one of those episodes where it’s a lot funnier if you’ve come across the media it’s referring to (waiting for Godot). It’s really funny if you’ve read/watched that play, but if you haven’t, it would probably just come off as strange

i actually really like season 1. i don't think i can pick one favorite overall episode, but underage drinking: a national concern never gets old to me, and it's the first episode i show to friends to try to get them into the show.
That’s fair! I think the show is diverse enough in its premises and ideas that there’s an argument that could be made for just about any episode being “the best” or “underrated.”
It’s really interesting to me how everyone has completely different favourite episodes, for whatever reason the Great Recession is my absolute favourite of all time, the opening scene and the scene where frank uses the vacuum are two of my favourite in the shows run so far, the show is absolutely brilliant and almost every episode is a fantastic piece of television in its own right
Franks Pretty Woman is the best episode in the series, Season 7 was the best season, Fat Macs existence served as a goodbye letter to the aspects of Macs character that conflicted with his gay side, and while I love Macs coming out story with all my heart, I've always felt that having Mac abandon that "macho christian asshole" aspect of his character for a strictly gay one made the character less funny in my eyes

Man. Aside from agreeing on how good this show is in general, and agreement on a few of the top ones, I could hardly be more in disagrement on these. The gang turns black is soooo good. And a bunch of others near the bottom are near my top.
Gang Turns Black is an absolute masterpiece. My top favorite. Can tell that Megan Ganz (from Community) helped write and shape this super meta episode. And Scott Bakula?? chef’s kiss!
1:10:25 is EASILY my favorite setup for my favorite joke of the WHOLE show: because of his giant ego, and meeting the God/British version of himself, Dennis hears how awesome a British accent would be. He then busts into the room later in the episode (first time linking with the gang since his narcissistic revelation) and yells "Stop Charlie" in an AWFUL british accent.
the gang goes extreme home makeover is one of my favorite episodes, it's so insane and off the rails, and the scene where they break into the house that's shot in 24 fps makes me die laughing every time I see it, I'm surprised you find it forgettable
This isn’t really related to anything but my personal favourite moment is in “The Gang Exploits a Miracle” when Charlie enters the bar dressed in a full white suit and singing “I’ve got the good lord goin down on me.” That makes me laugh every single time I see it and even thinking about it I can’t not laugh fornsome reason.
The way you feel about Frank eating cat food is how I feel about GOOOOOOOOD MORNING JUAREZ FAMILY just a couple episodes later. One of the funniest scenes in the entire series

They don't know what he's been up to and just assume he must be the killer When the find out the truth, I also don't feel like it's necessarily bad . Their reaction is exactly what you'd expect from the characters
Mac Finds His Pride helped me come to terms with my own compulsory heterosexuality, which is also what Mac struggles with (I think). I understand why people don't like it but watching that episode actually helped me come to terms with being a lesbian myself. I think it was a very powerful episode and one people don't fully understand given it has a lot of meta-commentary about how the writers handled Mac's character
speaking as a trans person, the plot lines with carmen are not more offensive or in any poorer taste than all the other stuff the gang did lol, mac is a serial killer is one of my favourite episodes-- however i know at least some other trans people who dont really grasp the point of the episodes being to satirise bigotry (not to be stereotypical but i know the trans community has not been one that is known to be good at taking jokes or criticism), which i discovered when showing my friend the episode mac fights gay marriage-- for me thats peak humor but for them it was offensive 🤷♂
You should have just ranked them to start. I don't want to hear you say every episode in order and then hear some other dude name them all off one by one after 2 hours. Like why wouldn't you just rank them from worst to best to start? By the time you got to the rankings I was over the video.

it might not be my all time favorite episode of the show, but The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 6 might be the episode i laughed the hardest at on my first watch, all the lethal weapon episodes are great, there is so much gold packed into those episodes beyond the black face, but that seems to be all anyone mentions when those episodes are brought up for good or bad.

Quick small correction to 1:23:32, there were actually various cuts in the episode, but they're hidden cleverly. For example there are a few shots where the camera pans across a door, or something, which is where they have a cut.
I know my gf and I were trying to decide if it was a single shot, but noticed the very subtle cuts between doorways. Still, the gang is great at what they do and the podcast is so fun
im an actor so i noticed all the cuts just from knowing filming techniques lol
The way you wrote the end was super powerful. Drawing up all those emotions from the moment with Charlie in the rain immediately followed by the shamrock tattoo yelling made me like laugh/cry in a wonderfully releasing way. Thanks for that 🙏

The Gang Solves the Gas crisis and The Gang Gets on Welfare are my two personal favorites and the two episodes I show someone when I’m showing them the show for the first time

It's so interesting how similar and altogether different people's opinions can be. We had several of the same favorite episodes, and the same is true with some of our least favorites. However, "The Gang Spies like U.S." is one of my ALL TIME favorite Always Sunny episodes, and I find myself rewatching it constantly. Charlie, Mac, and Dennis's hushed conversation at Guigino's is perfect. The wordplay and subsequent missunerstanding around what they each mean by "cream pie" is a classic Always Sunny bit (to me). And Charlie struggling to find a good spot for the bugged-plant is another borderline perfect scene. Dee's subplot does drag the episode down a bit, but the cat and mouse game between Charlie/Frank and Dennis/Mac is just what the show does best; take a simple (insane) premise and take it to the extreme.

Number 20!?!? Even without the rest of the funny moments in The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award, the meta plot representing the show's frustration at perennial snubs by the Emmys was brilliant, and Charlies's 2 songs should guarantee that episode a spot in the top 10. Robbed again.
Waiting for Big Mo is one of those episodes where it’s a lot funnier if you’ve come across the media it’s referring to (waiting for Godot). It’s really funny if you’ve read/watched that play, but if you haven’t, it would probably just come off as strange

It’s really interesting to me how everyone has completely different favourite episodes, for whatever reason the Great Recession is my absolute favourite of all time, the opening scene and the scene where frank uses the vacuum are two of my favourite in the shows run so far, the show is absolutely brilliant and almost every episode is a fantastic piece of television in its own right

Franks Pretty Woman is the best episode in the series, Season 7 was the best season, Fat Macs existence served as a goodbye letter to the aspects of Macs character that conflicted with his gay side, and while I love Macs coming out story with all my heart, I've always felt that having Mac abandon that "macho christian asshole" aspect of his character for a strictly gay one made the character less funny in my eyes

Gang Turns Black is an absolute masterpiece. My top favorite. Can tell that Megan Ganz (from Community) helped write and shape this super meta episode. And Scott Bakula?? chef’s kiss!
1:10:25 is EASILY my favorite setup for my favorite joke of the WHOLE show: because of his giant ego, and meeting the God/British version of himself, Dennis hears how awesome a British accent would be. He then busts into the room later in the episode (first time linking with the gang since his narcissistic revelation) and yells "Stop Charlie" in an AWFUL british accent.

This isn’t really related to anything but my personal favourite moment is in “The Gang Exploits a Miracle” when Charlie enters the bar dressed in a full white suit and singing “I’ve got the good lord goin down on me.” That makes me laugh every single time I see it and even thinking about it I can’t not laugh fornsome reason.

Mac Finds His Pride helped me come to terms with my own compulsory heterosexuality, which is also what Mac struggles with (I think). I understand why people don't like it but watching that episode actually helped me come to terms with being a lesbian myself. I think it was a very powerful episode and one people don't fully understand given it has a lot of meta-commentary about how the writers handled Mac's character

speaking as a trans person, the plot lines with carmen are not more offensive or in any poorer taste than all the other stuff the gang did lol, mac is a serial killer is one of my favourite episodes-- however i know at least some other trans people who dont really grasp the point of the episodes being to satirise bigotry (not to be stereotypical but i know the trans community has not been one that is known to be good at taking jokes or criticism), which i discovered when showing my friend the episode mac fights gay marriage-- for me thats peak humor but for them it was offensive 🤷♂
