There's something incredible about these old races. You can tell they are classics just from watching, even if you have no reference.

Late 80s early all the way through early 2000s were the best then it turned into a shite show once dorna bought out World Superbike. They knew it was threatening their boring GP dominance at the time. It was only a matter of when world superbike would have overtaken GP in popularity and viewership. And of course dorna then turned it into a has-been series to make sure it would not rival their coveted Mafia Enterprise🙄🤮

1999... back in the time, when I was 17 and got my motorbike driving licence. I watched these guys, imagining I can ride the bike the same as them. And then I crashed my bike in 5 mph on gravel in front of the amazed crowd.

Does anybody know for certain exactly what we as Americans have to do in order to get our bikes say processed to be taken overseas to track day ride an race on circuit hypothetically in Australia at Phillips Island ?
watched this in new zealand june till the end of the year 1999. I can assure you every year since this has been a huge let down. In particular the loss of simon crafar and john koczinski would of made it even better. I don't see how todays riders can be exciting with what happened to it in the early 2000s....and here we are in 2024....whoo hoo.

Haga had an almost modern riding style. He was almost hanging off the bike. Fogarty had such a weird style. He would just sit straight on the bike. Only his head would lean. Nowadays all riders are the same. So boring.
I bought all the DVD Collection of these great years in WSB.....Very dissapointed as all the great commentary has gone by Keith and Julian....replaced by post race commentary and it's almost unwatchable....such a shame.

They were probably not supposed to be in a WSBK race. The comment at 54:07 is a bit more iffy, I thought, even with 1999 standards.
