Hey Lewis, just want to give some more advice about the game, more specifically the super boost pads a.k.a Ultra Sacred Fire (as well as my thoughts ^^) The boost pad you mentioned on N.Gin was one of them but there were 3 more that I know of. 1. The pad at the end of the downward spiral on Hot Air Skyway 2. The last pad of the lap of Cortex Castle. 3. 2 pads on Oxide Station, one is 22 seconds into the lap and the other one is 40 seconds in where the low gravity section is. Anyway, you had the right idea about the pads, pressing triangle allows you to see your speedometer and when you hit an USF pad, the pointer is at it's maximum, that's how you can tell you are going at your maximum possible speed. Because you instantly hopped off the pad on N.Gin Labs and performed a landing boost from the height you got, you lost the USF instantly but the hopping you did right after the landing maintained some of the USF's speed of your car allowing you to catch up to Oxide. If you don't jump off the pad and let yourself fall after hitting the USF pad, you will keep all of the speed from the pad until your reserves run out. From when you hit the pad, you don't need to worry about the reserves, just let all of your reserves go and let your vehicle fly across the track XD You can also drift while you are in the USF state making it possible to pass the tight turns of N.Gin Labs but the one important tip is to never boost. Feel free to practice this in your own time if you are curious. This was a fantastic series and thank you for the entertainment, you're awesome! (: Congrats on beating Oxide!
The last pad of Cortex Castle is the one on the ground just before the finish. It's the one before the big jump that is USF. They're basically the same turbo pads that give you blue fire in Nitro-Fueled; the biggest exception is Polar Pass, which is just a normal turbo pad in OG CTR, but got turned into blue fire in Nitro-Fueled.
shame this series was so short but hey, quality over quantity. also thanks for re-recording the races you already did for our viewing pleasure, it is appreciated 💪
Congrats! These Oxide time trials seemed a lot harder way back when I first played this game as a kid. I think having experience with Nitro Kart and Nitro-Fueled definitely helps to make Oxide's times in the original CTR a whole lot easier. I'm now inspired to go back and replay the original CTR as it really still holds up as a fantastic kart racer even with Nitro-Fueled being available.
Lewis! I would love to see you do a reaction video to the broken shortcuts in the original CTR. Alessandro Mastroianni has an insane video on it. I think you'd be surprised. If that's a type of content you'd like to do!
You actually get a faster start if you repeatedly tap X on the lead up to the beginning of the race. Also Ripper Roo is one of the slower characters so no wonder you were struggling on N Gin Labs!
Fun fact: you can hit saffi fire in tiny arena and oxide station given length and possibility of craming in boosts. To put in perspective, in tiny arena with penta if i dont do it, i get 1:05 but with saffi fire i could get 1:00
R1 + L1 + Triangle - left - left - circle - right For some reason, I still remember the cheat for Super turbo pads. Probably because 7 year old me could only beat the oxide ghosts while using that.

You should do The Wrath of Cortex platinum since it's the closest game to the originals and it's pretty nostalgic, I think it'll do well and it will be fun to watch
You messed up the pad at N.Gin Labs. You're not supposed to hop off of the pad, because if you do you get the landing boost which you want to avoid (and you've been getting it, hence it cancelling USF). You're supposed to also be able to stretch it across the finish line and ideally keep it into the first corner (provided that you avoid the landing boost somehow). You can easily get a sub 49 lap 2 and 3 even with a Turn kart.
I think the second speed pad on ngin laps does not work if you jump off of it. Cause the jump triggers a mini boost and thus nullifies the super speed. If you get enough reserves before getting that speed pad, it will last you till after the finish line.
You are not supposed to jump at all at the super turbo pads which give younthe USF or the super flame like you call it. Your landing boost ruins the whole thing.
The super turbo pad in N.gins lab gives you USF (ultimate sacred fire) speed, which is the max speed you can reach in the game. In order to keep it you have to avoid getting other sources of turbo. You kept losing it because you jumped right after the turbo pad getting the turbo you gain from high enough jumps. However you were be able to win thx to another tech: froggy, which let you keep the speed you were at for a few seconds even if you ended all your reserves. So you were be able to win keeping the USF just for less then 2 seconds per lap, imagine if you knew what I told you :)
Bro if you use dingo Dile and you got comfortable ctr original oxide was nothing you can out run him mile away I don't know if play ctr original again if I'll be that good again ,but oxide ctr original and nf it's the same easy
There is actually a major shortcut in Oxide Station in this version where you can jump down over part of the track at the beginning to reach a later part of the track to skip a good amount of the track. It was an unintended shortcut and it can't be done in Nitro-Fueled.
Just a minor tip - you can get a bigger start boost by revving your engine when the red lights are flashing. Then, when you hold it for the start boost as normal, the meter will fill up all the way.
Missing the shortcut on hot air skyway oppodite the long straight you drop down, if you then spun round you can clear the fence and be on the othet side. Sadly they took that one out in nitro fuelled
The car is super wide too, so I imagine it was easier to hit stuff... though the bonus with it hothering is in the original there's no slowdown in the rough.

Can we just say that the CNK velo ghosts took 9 videos but the CTR oxide ghosts only took 3 videos. That shows the difficulty difference.

When you see a pad that give a blue fire DON'T JUMP and don't drift. You will loose all the speed you have directly

Surprised no one told you about the massive Oxide Station shortcut. It makes the ghost beyond trivial. It's not present in NF however.
