Fellow obsessed guy here. Also a master plumber. When you get tired of the noise from the poorly engineered drain pump on the Scotsman, throw it in the garbage with the ryobi pressure washers and buy a Hoshizaki ice machine. The pumps are whisper quiet and more reliable. You can retrofit a hoshi pump to a Scotsman if needed.

These are everywhere in Australia. Didn’t realise it’s uncommon outside of Australia.
It’s also very expensive in Australia, you generally find them in workplaces.

I cut the hoses down in length so they flow downwards from the outlet to the unit, also you can adjust the time it is cycling to reduce the amount of power it uses.
I have it turn on at 6am so it’s ready to use in the morning and off at 8pm.

Whoever gets to buy these houses and cars when Matt's done is getting the steal of a lifetime. At least in the short term. Some old man is going to be living in this house someday and this will need replacing. He'll have a mini heart attack when he gets that 5k quote and probably buy a Brita lol.

I would say set back the regulator to 250kpa and purge co2 in the install settings. Then get a measuring cup and dispense the leaver towards you and let it dispense of 15 seconds making sure it dispenses at 400ml.
If it doesn’t dispense at the correct amount adjust the flow on the adjustment valve which is located at the machine where the connections are, where you were shows where all the plumbing is. If this doesn’t work then the carbonation pump needs to be adjusted. Which is located inside the machine.
The running sparkling water pressure should be at 700-750kpa and chilled running pressure at 400kpa.
You will need a technician to do this if it’s still in warranty, culligan America I think provide service for zip products in America. Hope this helps

Matt, big fan of your work and long time customer here. But there's something I have been wanting to say for quite some time. I really think that you are over-improving your house. I am not sure if it is worth it for you to install all these overkill upgrades in a very modest home in rural Florida. I, too, have high end kitchen hardware and Subzero + Wolf appliances in my house. But my house is a custom built boutique architectural house on the West Coast. I agree that we should enjoy life and not do "average", but all these high end upgrades on your house is akin to putting $15,000 HRE wheels on a Toyota Avalon. I am not saying that your house is bad. But the upgrades, renovations, improvements should match the value of the home.

Really appreciate the review and details. I've been obsessing and looking at these different systems for our kitchen. I have a homemade setup I use for sparkling water using a 5lb CO2 bottle and a beer regulator. I keep it in the garage and it would be nice to have something in the kitchen, but not for $5k+. Our local appliance place had the Grohe version and it also sputtered when I tried it.

  • @swrobel
    @swrobel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you for making this video! There's very little info out there about how these systems work out in practice. Did you ever work out the issue with the sparkling water coming out in spurts? I just demo'd one in a showroom and it did the same thing - I was hoping it was just an old unit that needed to be serviced, but if this is the quality one can expect for $5k, then forget it!

Somewhat off topic but the Opal nugget ice machine 2.0 works great for smaller homes and only cost 599. Purchase the machine from Best Buy with that 4 year extended warranty and you will not regret it

Have these all over my workplace along with larger scotsman icemakers and its the only way i survive. haha. they all have vents on the cupboard doors for ventilation. But i can understand not needing it for a home.

I'm wondering how you track all of the information you learn about these products. Is it as simple as Excel workbooks, or do you have a more elaborate system for planning out these projects?

Mr. Morgan. This is your HOA. I’m sorry but we have declined your request for the color of your cabinets.
We have sent you new request forms with colors we have “suggested” for you. You won’t receive these new request forms for 3 months and must cease ALL work until further notice.
We are expecting you to have your kitchen fully completed by the end of the week or we will file a lawsuit. Our community will not tolerate unfinished kitchens!
    Thank you
