And even in meritocracy you'd lead by example. When you get shit guidance, you do a shit job, more so if someone has your hands tied behind your back. Usually problems start at the top.
Best option for Ubisoft at this point is: 1. Cancel assassins creed shadows. 2. Apologize to everybody. 3. Sell the made assets of the game to a different company.
It's known as the Pareto Principle. It applies to every human endavour and nobody can explain why, just that it always happens, with everything. Also anytime this ratio skews one or the other, systemic crises always follows. If it reverses you have something like the great terror in france, if it goes like it is now in the US you get things like ubisoft. Tons of great insights from the 80/20 rule alone. Worth anything you can read about it, especially the original work from Pareto.
the damage has been done we don't trust them anymore. the same goes for Bioware if they f up Mass Effect I will never forgive them if they do. and if Bethesda f up the next elder scrolls with more woke s**t they can go to hell too.
Heres a fun story. Before all this nonsense started, i was going to college to be a game dev. Covid stopped me and thank God it did. I couldve been a white guy in the woke game development industry.
Yeah, even the previous WTC bombing, or the bombing of the USS Cole, was covered in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it way on the news, and people talked of them -- if they did -- in a "Haha, aren't terrorists so dumb?" kind of way. That's just unthinkable now.
You’re kidding, right? The Oklahoma City bombing happened about a few month after Aum Shinrikyo, and was magnitudes or order a bigger story than the subway attack I was in college, as a 2nd year Japanese language student at the time, and we barely talked about it for more than a few daus
I saw an interview of a Ubisoft manager. In it, he proudly said, as if it was a good thing, than more than half the devs of AC Shadows never worked on any game before. I mean it's ok to have some beginners in a project, everybody need to learn at some point. But more than half ? Yeah they are dead weight.
Well, they chased off all the talent that actually made them a success. So they were free to hire anyone who wasn't a straight white male, regardless of talent or experience. The result is wasting hundreds of millions of dollars and many years, only to find the only way to finish the game at all is to send it off to sub contractors in South East Asia who work from before sunrise to after dark for peanuts to do the actual work.
Dead weight is right...they got like 18k staff and yet the level of incompetence is nothing short of appalling and feel like some of the more unscrupulous folk in the industry in particular keep inventing new position on why they are somehow relevant in the industry and deserve a job position - ie consultations firms; the black myth studio quoted around 7 mill it was being black mailed just for consultation. The worst part is rather than cut costs where it matters they instead pass the costs onto the consumer all the while refusing to make products for said customers that are in demand and that they actually want to see - also why I laugh when they say slogans like games are too expensive to make, the misallocation of funds within these companies is baffling. Meanwhile you got some of these indie devs over here with 2 passionate dudes in their basement creating better games because they know what players actually want, because they are gamers themselves. Quality over quantity, that's what I always say. Studios these days seemed marred by politics, toxic positivity and a hatred for the very customers they are supposed to be serving and/or selling their products to. Like, its fine to have your beliefs as long as you leave it at the door when you come into work. The purity of gaming has been compromised by people who wish to use the medium to push propaganda, and what I can only assume to be votes...like they have already done to the rest of the entertainment industry that has crashed and burned (ie hollywood, or music artists like taylor swift pushing for certain candidates).
I worked at Burger King for a few years and the amount of useless people was beyond belief. My coworkers complained to my boss that I was doing too much work and they were spending all their time reviewing my PRs. They also rejected a PR for a feature the UX team requested because it was "Too complex and nobody else could understand or maintain the code." Long story short, on the day my boss let me go, I already had an interview scheduled for later that day.

More than one, let's not forget Seattle gets burned and occupied once a decade, and they can't blame it on wildfires. The rain-forest over there kinda stops them, the unmanaged forests tend to spread fungal pathogens though, I swear black mold just grows on the streets in the puget sound area.
DEI is burning down a civilisation. That's why they're doing all of this, video games are just one of many vectors, a popular and influential medium for the subversion to be spread.
@@WeirdLookingRabbit If it really did, that company wouldn't be in such a deplorable state. They'd be thriving, and Hollowwood too. As you can see, neither of them are.
I'm a software developer and the part where people find a bug they can't solve and just accept it is very real. I think not knowing how to fix the bug is not a problem at all, it's an opportunity to grow, the problem is giving up and coming up with a bunch of excuses why it's impossible to do that.
I bet you, if the game would be in medieval Lapland, the protagonist would be black no matter what. The problem with this is, when a black character is actually fitting in a game setting, nobody wants it anymore, because we'll always associate them with their woke bullshit.
The thing is, Ubisoft's back catalogue is making them substantial amounts of money. It's the only thing keeping them afloat. I have no clue how much money is left, but I think a buyout or something like that is on the horizon. This DEI nonsense started, by the way, with a manipulated study by none other than McKinsey. According to this "study", a company with a diverse leadership will make up to 35% more revenue than competitors. This got repeated ad nauseam without ever checking it or another study to back it up. But like you said, if the rot reaches the top, you get whole structures without merit and use.
They always do that. Research studies are often faked with fraudulent data manipulation, and policy made on top of it. When the truth comes out about the faked study, it's too late, society is already going in that direction, and nobody cares what the truth is, they want the money and the public praise.
Too late for me, I'll never go back to any of these brands that went along with this nonsense. Honestly, gaming just overall kinda sucks anymore imo, and other than the new Monster Hunter and that Vampire game, I honestly don't care for anything coming out this year so far. Ubisoft made lots of mistakes with recent games. I can kind of understand this March 20th, because it's also the start of Spring in Japan, but it also is very much unfortunately the same day as that terror attack. Ignorance is pretty dangerous
They don't do anything, work is on commissions to overseas, is done by foreign companies in Asia for cheap labor and terrible conditions. With everything outsourced, Ubisoft just assembles the products and sells at high price. Just a common practice in all corporations.
"Abandon all DEI, you who enter here" should be inscribed above the door of EVERY company, gaming or otherwise. Ceterum censeo Blackrock esse delendam.
They still have not replaced Yasuke with an actual Asian male Samurai. Ubisoft will sell or not be around much longer. Once they get taken over. It will result in 'restructuring' which will entail massive layoffs. The comment about Ubisoft not fixing bugs. This makes so much sense after my experience with Far Cry 6. I submitted 5 bug reports. None of them got fixed. Have had similar experiences with Bethesda Game Studios for Starfield.
Never do work of someone else. If the compatition is not fair work as good and efficient as others to show management you are the only one who does actual work. Take a week off your tempo and work just like others do. If it is not enough do this for two weeks. Once people start look for a result show your cards.

For a while, i felt like Ubi would easily be able to cut their staff by half without losing much of any value/talent. But now, I'm thinking that they could probably cut themselves down from almost 20k employees, to about 3k in order to trim off most of the deadweight/fat.

Ubisoft changing? Even if it’s true, it might be too late. Heck, Shadows was confirmed recently to require Denuvo & a Ubisoft account on PC. I don’t see things going well with news like that.
In regards to the section about Kanji. Kanji is a pictogram. A single Kanji character will represent an idea (or thing). There are many instances in Chinese and/or Japanese poetry where one Kanji character is used (i.e. wind, tiger, dragon) to convey a feeling more than a literal sentence. That being said, Ubisoft is still tone deaf to Japanese culture and has ruined themselves through DEI (there were no black samurai). My wife, whom is Japanese, snorts every time she see a trailer for Assassin’s Creed, lol.
typical DEI pushers can never come up with any valid arguments, on why / how its good for gaming.., instead they just attack anyone with valid criticism against forced DEI..
It's because it is malicious. Video games are simply a popular medium making it a target for highjacking by these enemies who wish to use its influence promote cultural subversion. The hope we wouldn't notice, but the veil has slipped.
I felt your restaurant pain in your voice. What makes it worse is when that attitude leaks into places where you need to care for others. My wife worked in an assisted care nursing home. The abuse she had to curb was stressful. One person slammed a client's toe into a doorframe and didn't report it at all. My wife noticed his toe was broken for an entire weekend before she got to talk to a nurse about it. Turns out they kept quiet because the one who did it was a friend of the nurse on call and she didn't want to get "her boy" fired so she let the client suffer the entire weekend until my wife brought it up and even then they made her fill out the entire paperwork and made her take the client to the ER to get the client's toe fixed. That's only one instance in that field. If you worry about the usual suspects ruining your food when you got out to eat, don't ever be put in an old folk's home. It's about the same quality
I feel like DEI is misunderstood in general. It's main intent was to bring people together according to their talents and strengths regardless of gender, ethnicity, etc. It was supposed to objective, not subjective. That IS a good thing mind you. It means lousy Asian me will not get automatically rejected during the hiring process because I'm Asian; if ever I do get rejected it would be because I wasn't fit for the job or someone else that offers more was selected. Now the problem is, there are times, and I mean, a majority of times, that the best candidate just so happens to be the white dude 5 hirings in a row (economic background, education privilege, too many to list that gave some advantages to certain demographics), and that will raise eyebrows on the woke community already, so companies just get the not-so-fit guy and hire him just to have some Asian on the team, to silence these woke critics. And that was where the downfall started.
16:40 I think that's not the point. What he's writing is 勇 which is not a letter - as most kanji is. It's a word. Sometimes calligraphy is like that. To compare it to a letter A is like comparing "A" pen to "Single" pen. Yes, it's the same, but A pen is elementary school. Single is not.
Japanese people literally do exactly what Yasuke was doing well into high school, it's called Japanese Calligraphy and it's apparently a requirement of some kind for years in their schooling. And indeed a kanji is nothing like the letter A. A kanji, as you said is more like a whole word. For it to be a mere letter he would have had to put a hiragana or a katakana which would, on their own, mean nothing, like the letter A. But a kanji, on its own, means a whole word.
16:32 huh... Now that I think of it, that scene of Yass-Ghey writing a big ol kanji for no reason might have been stolen from Samurai of Hyuga. Without spoiling anything, the MC of SoH is illiterate, and in book 3 they write this great big kanji in the dirt and ask one of the NPCs what it means.

Doesn't matter. As long as people stop preordering games, these companies with start being risk averse.
I wouldn't be surprised if they skip the BRIDGE acronym because so many people already know about it and go straight to the next one... and then claim that BRIDGE was a "far right conspiracy".
If we had a purely meritocratic system with no DEI interference most of these “devs” would be bagging groceries or asking if you want fires with that.
So instead of making shitty games you'd insist on them being around your food source instead? I don't think you've actually thought this through.
@ That’s not what I said “genius”…
And even in meritocracy you'd lead by example. When you get shit guidance, you do a shit job, more so if someone has your hands tied behind your back. Usually problems start at the top.
@@1OO_kyou implied they would be fast food workers. That's exactly what you said.
Say what you mean or mean what you say
@ Me implying they’d be fast food workers =/= Me wanting them to work in those positions. Get it know?
Best option for Ubisoft at this point is:
1. Cancel assassins creed shadows.
2. Apologize to everybody.
3. Sell the made assets of the game to a different company.
The landscape assets look pretty good. They could market that library pretty well, I'd wager.
Even then it's better to shut these companies down. Get new companies up, start fresh and get better workers and decent leaders
Ubisoft is a prime example of what happens when you cater to the screaming crazies.
At this rate we should just bring back asylums...
MAGA can also stand for that. Make Asylums Great Again. :p

These hires are everywhere now, the 80/20 rule: 20% do 80% of the work
What's worse is they're getting promoted into key positions; which insulates them from termination.
It's not just the gaming industry either, I see the same type of BS in the medical field on a daily basis. Society is actually in trouble.
We wuz developers in sheeeit....
And firefighting.
I want nothing to do with ubisoft. Not one game again.
Of course, they're deadweight. that's what happens when you hire based off check boxes
it's way too late for ubisoft to abandon dei and stay in business
They screwed up when they abandoned their customers
the damage has been done we don't trust them anymore.
the same goes for Bioware if they f up Mass Effect I will never forgive them if they do.
and if Bethesda f up the next elder scrolls with more woke s**t they can go to hell too.
Simple solution: get rid of the Deadweight and blacklist them
Exactly.
It's too late for Ubisoft to abandon DEI, they've already screwed themselves.
Heres a fun story. Before all this nonsense started, i was going to college to be a game dev. Covid stopped me and thank God it did. I couldve been a white guy in the woke game development industry.

I remember, too.
Yeah, even the previous WTC bombing, or the bombing of the USS Cole, was covered in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it way on the news, and people talked of them -- if they did -- in a "Haha, aren't terrorists so dumb?" kind of way.
That's just unthinkable now.
or wait 80 years for games to load! could have a cuppa and a shower before the games even ready to play! lmao
You’re kidding, right?
The Oklahoma City bombing happened about a few month after Aum Shinrikyo, and was magnitudes or order a bigger story than the subway attack

And the other half are incompetent activists. Lol. Your game must be suck
I wonder if he still feels that way...?
That's so dumb.
Yes beginners gotta gain experience, but what's the point of experience if they ain't got nobody teaching them properly.
I'm from Quebec so not only part of my taxes goes to Ubisoft, it's also where Sweet Baby Inc. was created.........

They would need to fire like 3/4 of their company. They can't do it.
Downsizing radically and focusing on smaller budget games instead of AAA+ ones doesn't sound like a bad move for them.
if you can hire them you can fire them, if they don't do that they will get destroyed.
It’s not that whether they could, but they should do it to save the company

The subway attack in Japan was horrific. On top of the deaths, some of the victims had long term damage. The lack of insight by Ubisoft is painful.

All Ubisoft needs to do is move the release date forward or back by a week or so.
This has to be two of the most dumbest things I've heard since the announcement of Shadow 😂
Too late for them
The thing is, Ubisoft's back catalogue is making them substantial amounts of money.

Been saying for years that the problem isn't just the CEOs and bosses at the game studios. It's the DEI devs they keep hiring.
Never do work of someone else. If the compatition is not fair work as good and efficient as others to show management you are the only one who does actual work. For a while, i felt like Ubi would easily be able to cut their staff by half without losing much of any value/talent. But now, I'm thinking that they could probably cut themselves down from almost 20k employees, to about 3k in order to trim off most of the deadweight/fat.
AAA label just mean bloated production. Never preorder. Watch gameplay before buying.
They'll either Change or Hide i wonder which one. Lets see.

I think Ubisoft misspelled "DIE"
It's too late for them.
When they say they're not involved with DEI but then when you check their homepage it's all over there and it says we support DEI 🤦🚩
Woke is trash
If Awaji is a real guy and he really recovered something, which it sounds like - its definitely not fair to say this is plagiarism.
Revelations and Far Cry 3 were peak Ubisoft. I miss those days
They’re not abandoning it. It’ll just be called something else hoping people don’t notice. It’s too late. They’ve lost any kind of reputation with gamers after ignoring and mocking them.
First smart thing Ubisoft has done in a LONG time.
