That Flying Dutchman Ship is by far my favorite. The amount of detail and wash can compete with display models. I put it in my top 10 Mega Sets of all time.
Indeed. It's fascinating to see the difference between how Lego & mega Bloks handles the same franchise. Although this is old mega & Lego made Mega Try hard. New Mega is just not the same & in a lot of ways a downgrade from the vibes, care & love but quality has improved (Very close to Lego quality).
@@EnzoFilmsProd indeed. Mega lost COD licence so I think that had to do with some of it. Im wondering why can't they just make generic lines like how they use to. Pyrates & dragons were great examples.
bringing back memories, cleaning 3 tubs of Legos and other things for my nephew and i found a bunch of the figures and building pieces, only one piece of the black pearl remains which is a bummer
I had no idea these existed as a child!!! I thought Mega Bloks only made Pyrates. If I had known about POTC I wouldn't have rested until having them all! 😭
Growing up, I had the Black Pearl and the collectors set with all 3 Islands when I turned 19. My mom tried to give it to my younger cousins and and obviously. That did not happen, and now I have all the sets on shelves in my house. The only thing I'm missing is one of the cannons from the Black Pearl, and both of the cannonballs.😂 probably shot them somewhere and never found em.
So these werent just a fever dream... i remember having some of the cheaper of these and pyrates, because we couldnt always get lego, and i remember these being good for the price, even if at the time i didnt mix the two very much out of pride and ocd
Hehehe, I know how you feel. The figures are so detailed, it also hits different right after watching the 2nd and 3rd movies. Speaking of which, I have the Dead Man's Chest main island piece but I don't know if I have all the pieces to do a proper review. If I do I will do it, I want to review every set eventually!
Blows my mind that both Lego and Mega had this license and Mega somehow did just a little bit more with it. Still don't like those huge clunky ship molds tho.
Well mega actually had to try since they were the underdog at the time. (They still are but the effort from modern mega has gone down compared to back then). However that being said modern mega did put more effort in the designs instead of using big clunky peices. If you've seen their Call Of Duty line, the vehical designs only used big pieces when absolutely necessary like for the window or door prices but even then you still had to built up the big pieces.
@@UnfriendlyPorcupine I’ve been loving modern Mega to be honest. The Xbox 360 last year was my way back into the brand, loving the direction they’re going with Mattel Creations.
The greatest pirate ships are absolutely my favorite is the Queen Anne's revenge the Black Pearl and the flying Dutchman and my black pearl only 53% complete with Legos I have to Jack Sparrow's Barbossa and the mighty kraken
QUESTION! I found ur video while searching online to help me verify the minifig (MegaBloks) that I have actually IS, as I suspect, “COTTON”! (As in the mute pirate w/his tongue removed whose parrot talks for him) I tried pausing whenever I saw the figs for each set but I couldn’t tell! Does anyone know whether or NOT a COTTON MINIFIG was made? Thank u much and 🖤 the video!
Thanks for the nostalgia trip, man I miss being a kid

I Agree! Mega Bloks did their homework, they put love and care into the dutchman ship. It looks so scary! So Real!!! I would love to review sometime!
I have the version 2 Dutchman to this day! Mega Bloks is really underrated!
I'm gonna have to say, Mega did Pirates so much better with much more love, care, and detail compared to Lego, and I'll stand by that

@@UnfriendlyPorcupine I think the saddest part is that modern Mega is only Halo, Pokémon, and 3 other brands, as compared to its past

Thank you so much for making this And the Pyrates sets video, I love these so much as a kid and its nice seeing the sets all together
You are most welcome! These sets were my childhood too!
Thanks for this. Just kicking myself that I passed up collecting these when they were on shelf. Will be using this as a checklist to chase down...

I got the Dead Man's Chest set for my 7th birthday! I had so much fun with the figures that I didn't build the structures until like a week later lol

What's the difference from black pearl 1 and 2 and the same question for the flying Dutchman 1 and 2?

Yes! Cotton was made as a minifig and included in the buccaneer's hideout set!
i had quite few these as child they were cheaper then there competitor lego
Wait, why are some of these branded as "Dead Men Tell No Tales"?
Probably named after the movie for which the set came from.
Theres one missing i had one with calipso in it
I have all the ships and some major land sets
