    Hey man this popped up in my recommended feed and I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciated your video. You tick all the boxes I enjoy in a Let's Play. You explain your thought process behind your actions, you let the voice acting play out before speaking, you have enough game knowledge to serve as a guide for a new player, and you keep your presentation demeanor calm, cool, and collected. Just wanted to let you know that there's at least one person out here in the wilds of TH-cam enjoying your content and looking forward to future installments. Have a good one, and I'm sure ill see you around.

    I did not realize other units have increased crit hit chance against engaged units.

    • @BonkGaming210
      @BonkGaming210  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah attacking an engaged unit increases your cit chance and attacking them in the back gives even more crit bonus and also allows you to ignore 50% of their guard.

    Amazing game and amazing series. Subbed
    Really love your attention to detail and reading things. This really is top tier gameplay. Also without all of the normal rambling of a streamer. Keep up the amazing work

      Yeah it's really huge for getting the right stats on your characters. I've played a lot of strategy games over the years so I've got a lot of practice under my belt 😤

    10:24 is the valour point on a kill better because later on you can get multiple triggers? Cause I tend to go for getting the valour point when ending their turn near an ally and not in combat. I dont want them to be engaged anyways, and being beside an ally doesnt let the archer shoot that ally.

    • @BonkGaming210
      @BonkGaming210  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that's correct. Once you get Barrage you can end up getting 4 kills with it which is pretty nice valour generation. I think the ending your turn next to an ally to generate valour is also good especially early when archers are a bit weak, but it's then another thing you need to make sure you're doing consistently.

    After playing the game for a bit i decided to write this comment to help new players into this amazing adventure.
    Here are some general tips for your first week in game:
    - STARTING OPTIONS: when starting always choose the first option in all 3 cards. Apprentice friends gives you a starting bonus of 30 influence which will allow you to go straight in the town and recruit a new merc. In the second card you can choose any of the first 2 options and in the 3rd card the first negative trait is the least punishing (you have many ways to increase your inventory capacity);
    - if you chose "apprentice frends" you will have a brute (tank), swordsman (melee warrior), ranger (rogue) and archer.
    - choose an ability that is useful for each class (taunt for brute, wrath for sword, bandage for ranger and AIM for archer). Aim is the best archer ability because it doubles range and allows you to shoot with 99% accuracy meaning you wont hit your ally that is next to your target even if you didnt position them well in the first turn of combat. Bandage on ranger because his best abilities come from the daggers he uses anyway.
    - in the traits choose brawny for all your melee guys (gives you more HP) and nimble for archer (gives more dex). The second trait choose volunteer because it will save a lot of money in salaries in the long run. The negative trait you can take "lazy" because professions level very slowly anyway.
    - i suggest you choose dynamic zones that level up with you because this way you will always get better loot drops from any fight.
    - right click to inspect anything! This will help you out in the world, choose decent mercs and see details of enemies in combat.
    - FIRST STEPS: when you start, go north and head into Stromkapp, the main town in your starting region. Here you can pick up a new companion in the inn (there are 3 to choose from, but make sure you read their traits carefully!), do not recruit a ranger because you find one for free in a quest soon! Then visit emissary Jocephwim and pick up all the quests that have the "easy" note. This will give you some locations on the map to explore.
    - then visit the blacksmith and click on the anvil and choose the blacksmith profession for all your melee mercs (this will give you +1 strength). Each profession gives you a stat bonus so make sure you read carefully what each prof does. Professions will be added to the menu when you interact with a specific crafting bench of that profession for the first time. Visit all the places in town to see what each merchant sells, and i suggest you buy some food and some salt from the market.
    - after you exit town take the road south-east and head to Mount Altis Salt mine. Here you will learn the mining prof which is very good. Learn it with your tank or swordsman because it also gives you +1 cons. Its also a good idea to steal the salt here. Salt is very useful for cooking any food.
    - CAMPING: soon after you leave town you will have to rest (the bar at the top is your troop fatigue bar). Press C to go in camp or click the icon at the bottom right. In camp make sure you set either the archer or a ranger as your tinker! Drag them from the fire and stick them to the crafting table until they do the hammering animation. Craft 2-3 lockpicks, you will need them soon. Having a tinker set from your first rest will ensure you get 2 raw materials per rest. You need raw materials to repair your armor in the field! This is one of the most important resources, along with food and medicine.
    Click on the fire to select the food and rest up. Later on you will craft a cooking pot and assign one of your melee guys to be the camp cook (+1 cons). This will reduce your food consumption during rest! Craft a tent as soon as possible because it will increase your valor points. Valor is like mana. Each ability used in combat spends one valor point. You have very few in the beginning so use your abilities wisely. Valor is recharged by resting in a camp.
    REMEMBER to always save before entering any location or camping!
    - continue south on the road until you reach Stromkapp mill. Here you will find an injured guy. Give him medicine and recruit him. He is a decent ranger that comes with you for free. You can use him as your thief. Any location you visit make sure you hover your mouse cursor over any object. Some are interactive and you can find goodies in them.
    - now you should have 5-6 mercs and you can take on your first quest location. Kill the bandits you encounter on the way because they have decent starting loot.
    - COMPENDIUM: as you discover new locations you will earn knowledge. This is like a research tree in other games. You can spend knowledge points to unlock interesting traits, crafting recipes and other useful things. Spend your first 3 points on rationing (less food consumed at camp), frugality (lower salaries) and for money (get more money from corpses after combat). Artful dodger is also great because it reduces your suspicion meter faster in case you want to steal or do some questionable choices in quests.
    - GOING FORWARD: After you complete one or two quests head back to town and turn them in to get some decent gold income. If you have a bad fight and a lot of broken armor and injuries, DONT repair or use medicine, just head back to town and buy repairs and healing from the merchants. Only spend regeneration resources if you are too far from a town because these are very rare in the early game!
    Last but not least: dont be afraid to experiment. If you fail miserably you can always start over.
    Enjoy your adventure and have fun! :)

    I recently started a new game and I've been trying to avoid the perks that boost combat XP. Last playthrough it felt like I outstripped the region-locked challenges too quickly. Maybe next time I'll try the scalable mode where I think that it just gives you more stuff to do earlier in the game. The problem with that, as I see it, is that you'll just peak faster (considering the unmodded game has a level cap).
    I wouldn't take advice from me, though, my first abuse of the game was a campaign with 54 companions, only 10 or so were toons with full skill trees, 1 bear, 2 wolves, 4 ponies, and 30-40 recruited captured characters (sometimes quantity has a quality all its own, lol).

    • @BonkGaming210
      @BonkGaming210  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol. I've never tried the region locked mode, but i guess since each region has it's set level you could outpace it for sure. You definitely do hit level cap well before finishing the game though, as I've been max level for what feels like a very long time.

    This playthrough looks really good. Excited to get started. I find it surprising that you didn't take running. I almost always take running first. I assumed faster movement through the map allows you to camp less frequently but perhaps running causes more fatigue? I'm not sure
