We love Skull King and have multiple versions of it. We still need to get The Crew and Ghosts of Christmas to the table. Trick taking is my favorite mechanism, and I have hundreds of games.
We enjoy Jekyll vs. Hyde. Would love to pick up Ghosts of Christmas, but have hesitated since it only plays at 3-4 players. Recently picked up Scout in anticipation for an upcoming group road trip.
Totally get the hesitation on the player count! Personally I appreciate when a game limits its player count to where it shines best. Definitely worth picking up if you often enough can play with 3-4!! Enjoy Scout!!! It’s a lot of fun :)
Played Skull King and learned what trick-taking is a week ago. now debating if I want to buy that or Cat in The Box. Since I am just starting my collection ill probably start with one of those. Skull King seems better as a party game as well since it allows for 8 players. Cat in The Box has such an interesting concept to it tho...
So glad to hear you’re enjoying trick-taking games! Skull King is a great pick, but one important note is that it sometimes doesn’t work as a “party” game so much as a “big group” game because it lasts more than 30 minutes. But if that’s okay with everyone, or you shorten the game by reducing the number of rounds, it should be great for parties!!! We love all the games on the list, so we hope you find some you enjoy :)
