    I always wondered when he mailed the stamp ,wasn't that inherently valuable ? This was always a great movie .

      He didn't destroy the stamp. Just used it.

      I guess it's because it's not inherently valuable, it's a stamp, a badly made stamp and it only has value in a niche market.
      It's like how there are some specific coins that are rare and in coin collecting circles rare, thus expensive, but it's just a coin.

    Pat Hingle was a favorite of mine, his Mr Roundfield character in this movie was a great support for Monty, given that he was at a disadvantage with those two liars... lawyers !!! 😂😂

    My grandma worked for a kind old man who a chairman of the board of a large insurance company, and I met him as a child,I like d his HiFi and he left it in his will, little did I know he was an investor in RCA, Grand Ole Opry,Ryman Auditorium in Nashville TN.

      A relative came to our home, and gave me the HiFi a beautiful young lady,at the time.In her sadness she did such a kind thing for his servants grandchild.

    I saw this in the theater and it JUST dawned on me last year that Brewster actually FAILED!!
    Surely the story makers must have known that the PICTURES taken by his "official photographer" would could count as...ASSETS.
    SHHHHH!!!

      He got value for the photographers service...the photographs don't need to bring value.they are the result of an employees work and a considerable asset with each instance

      The photos taken from inside the circle of Monty Brewster...those WOULD be of substantial value!!

      Brewster paid him to take photos. Depending on the terms of the contract who owns the final product is unclear. Monty was leasing, renting not buying.

    I never had a credit card, because I saw my cousin go to jail for failure to pay off the financial services in time,he had a wife and seven children.It was rough for him,he didn't think I cared but I did, and if i had the i would pay off my families debts.

      He got "value" for the stamp because he used it to mail a postcard.
      Not only that, he didn't destroy it. The post office did when they mailed the postcard.
      So, your statement is invalid.

    If I had the capital i would have helped my family pay it's bills. But I am poor, and I worried about people alot, I,m sure they couldn,t care if I lived or died,they have their lives to live.

      @@zeeox It's the best choice honestly. The game is a gamble, he could have easily lost on a technicality, like the stamp he mailed being judged as "destroyed". I'd have taken the million as well.

      @@victortesla4198 - Agreed. And I can happily lose sleep thinking what I'd do with $3.3m alone. For me, my loved ones and my favourite charities.
      After I first saw this film way, way back, I would sometimes dream I had a long lost relative I'd never heard of calling me out! But all I can do instead is grab a lottery ticket every so often and hope for the best there. (Sob!)
