Mine does overheat , 4k 60 maximum 40 minutes in room temperature (23C) , with 4k 30 I was able to get 90 minutes , when I connect the battery grip or powerbank it will overheat sooner
Yes but this is being sold as a 10bit log colour camera and mine shuts off in 10bit 4k60p due to overheat after between 4-16 mins. Try that and see what you get. Its a deal breaker for me!!! Im thinking of returning mine.

My one DJI P3 overheats in 13 minutes. 4k30p, 21oC in the room, no other function active (no active track, ...), all updates installed... If I go to 4k60p, it overheats faster... I saw already a video which admits the thing is overheating like a hell. Also I found a mention about overheating in the user manual (just a brief mention that it may overheat). Despite it is functionally really exceptional device, the overheating makes it totally useless, and I have to return it back to the shop. I cannot imagine anyone could be using it in a hot country...
@ZanderRound It appears there are a bunch of faulty units in Europe, probably a "defective batch" we're unlucky to have been delivered from... Now, I have about 10 days left to bring it back to the store for a replacement, hoping for getting a fully functioning one...
Well, you must be lucky or I might be unlucky because if I use the provided battery handle plugged, I can't record more than about 14 minutes in 4k@60 before overheating. I managed to get 48 minutes in 4k@60 before overheating once (no battery handle plugged). I also tried to use "slow motion" 4k@120 in a pretty cold room (about 18 °C), it lasted less than 15 minutes before failing for overheating. I'll bring my OP3 back to the store for an exchange I suppose...
Are you in Europe? If so, reset the pocket 3. Remove it from your profile on the app. Register your app in the United States. Reconnect the pocket 3. Set country to United States. Problem fixed 😊
I just bought this and awaiting the arrival of the camera. I just got the camera and not the creator edition so I love that the camera will work great for quite a long time too. I cannot wait to get this and use it for my videos. Thank you for your update. Always good info from you sir!

In Europe we have different regulations than in other countries in the world. The EU specifies that cameras must switch off at 48°C. That's why the cameras switch off so early. This is the case with all cameras sold in Europe, it is not a DJI specific problem. I think is is not the best test. If your gimbal keeps moving, the battery have less life. And the camera can overheat in 4K50 after 15 minutes of continous shooting on normal room temperature. This is my personal experience.
This has been my main concern ever since the P3 was rolled out. I had been hearing from random people on TH-cam that the camera would overheat and shut down. Since most of what I would use it for would require run times of 30 to 45 minutes I was shying away from the camera. SO glad that someone finally did a proper test for longer run times. I hadn't heard anything about any bad batches but I suspected that might be one culprit since DJI was plumping these things out as fast as they could to get them into people's hands for the unveiling. Also using the extended battery handle while filming longer clips makes sense as to the any overheating as well, since you're charging the internal battery at the same time it's discharging...which HAS to create some internal heat. If dji can fix the lack of dynamic range i would buy it, and its also sad that 4K is not available in 1:1 i mean at least with 30fps it should be possible, it would be nice if they could add full sensor readout in 4K.
I have this now and it is good to know how long it will record in continuous 4k. :) SO imagine if the battery pack is connected, I believe it can double the recording time.
Bought the camera myself, often its user error or using the wrong type of sd card. I know others in Australia using it in 30 degree heat all day and they have had no issues
Good test, and good to see this being discussed and analysed by end users (which sadly I'm not). There seems to be three clues to what's going on with the Pocket 3 overheating issue. 1 - Defective batch in Europe? 2 - Battery handle makes things worse (but it would, given that it's charging the main battery and that generates more heat anyway) 3 - Some memory cards seem to cause worse results than others. I suspect that factor (1) is the prime problem which is then made worse by (2) and (3). If it's not a defective one, then it won't be sensitive to whether the battery handle is attached or not, nor will it be fussy about the card. But if it is defective then those other two factors will make things worse.

An overheating test at 12 degrees proves nothing. At a minimum, room temperature should have been tested
For what it’s worth, I tested it in a no-airflow room at 82 Fahrenheit, 4K 60p, HLG with extended battery handle. It ran until the battery died.

12 degrees celcius... I mean come on, no camera overheats at low temperatures like that. Oven Canon R5 at 8K would go on forever.

Mine overheated. Shooting outdoor, direct sunlight about 83 degrees 4K 24p. Ran for 5 minutes before stopping.
I mount it on bike, get heavy shaking footage
You should test a normal temperatures, not at 12 degree, there are plenty of comments in Amazon of the camera overheating.
the sceen doesn't turn off unlike action 4. so expecting over heat in hot country. But we know dji will update the firmware. unlike... gopro

What SD card do you recommend for the pocket 3? Is the one that was mentioned in this video what you recommend?

if you place it on a tripod there will be no problem,but if you will hold it,it will over heat.
I'm guess a warm hand adds heat and insulates it, slowing any possible cooling.

I just bought Pocket 3 and it overheats after 15min in 4K50. :) It is worse than the previous Pocket. Also DJI Action 3 overheats after 20min 4K50. :)

@@ronaldbd4062 Personal experience from EU. Allegedly there is a law that controls the maximum temp of the camera on 48°C. By software.
Mine overheated in sunlight in 85F 21 min in 4k60 53f or 12 celsius is quite chilly.
