Perhaps since they gave you their stuff you might be able to send their personal stuff back to them - discuss with manager u pack their stuff and manager mails it for you and shows you tracking # receipt.
I've crocheted for 51 years. I've often wondered if you sell yarn hooks needles ect. There are a lot of us yarn heads that make for those who need. Prayer shawls hats and warm things. Blankets for babies to lovingly bundle them up if they didn't make it. Hard but we do it.

Life happened and I an stuck. So I pay the annual fee like clockwork every March. So, most likely they did not or do not want any of the stuff. Divorced????

I crochet/knit/loom hats and scarves for charity. Last year I sent a load of warm hats to the Ukraine and gave more to the local chemo unit at our hospital. This year I have started early to make sets for the Salvation Army for the homeless next winter.

The least you could do is mail back their personal items. If you have to surrender any personal items to the storage unit work with them to pay for the personal items to be mailed. You got all that stuff for free.
Very interesting finds for FREE. I lived in Oregon for 50 years and managed storage facilities . I know the rules for every state are different with regard to personal items. Some places say if you buy it, you own it, take it away. Where are you located (sort of). Nice glassware items in here. Good return on your "investment".

That was an interesting unit with a lot of personal stuff but some lovely things to sell. I like the milk glass and the blue glass containers, plus so.e of the covered dishes which look quite old. It was great to see Ashley with you and you both look tired after a long day. I hope you took 3 days off and had a well deserved rest, no-one can work too much in the heat. I hope ya'll research the things you find. Some of the things you are not very careful with could be worth money. I would have the storage manager contact the previouse owner for all the photos to see if they would pay to have them shipped. They are memories they will never have again.
It might have been nice (when you got this for free) to put up a lovely piece for a contest. People could have sent their names in and you had a draw. Something to think about if it ever happens again. 💞
When I first moved back to my home territory in about 1990, there was a local auction house that put on an auction every Friday night. I became totally addicted. One night there was a very large cardboard box for a dollar that I bid on. I thought, you cannot lose for a dollar. I was wrong! It was obviously the sweepings of a child's closet with broken crayons, broken coat hangers, and bits and pieces of coloring books.
Go easy, I have a feeling you just lost 50 bucks. You can have it evaluated and mended if the money will come out right. It does look worth the effort.

You never contact the families after you buy units. If you see any storage unit buyers doing that it’s definitely not a smart idea for safety reasons.
