Too Many Roosters!

- Our original 6 chicks grew into 5 hens and 1 rooster. They had 8 babies which grew into 2 hens and 6 roosters. That's too many roosters.
I have been procrastinating about my rooster problem and should have handled this a month ago when the youngest 4 reached maturity. 7 roosters after 6 hens (and all desiring a shot at Dum Dum) was not working.
I constructed a separate area just for the roosters, letting one or two out at a time, but that wasn't a long term solution. Also roosters eat the majority of the feed.
So I have decided to turn them from eating machines to being eaten. "I've done my own research" LOL. We will see how that works out tomorrow.

Too many roosters, always seems to be the dilemma. 😂 I imagine that is a big part of chicken math. We have a rooster flock for now. I’m really hoping to adopt mine out.
I wish I had the stomach to process chickens. Maybe I’ll get there someday.
Why do people think they have to kill their roosters if they have too many? I have 9 that I got stuck with and you just have to deal with it! It’s a hell of a lot of work but the way I look at it is if you hatched them and brought them into this world then you should be responsible and take care of them! You don’t kill animals just because you don’t want to pay for their food and they don’t provide eggs! I chose to keep mine alive and I love every one of them regardless of how much they eat because I hatched them and raised them from babies so would never think about harming any of them! Don’t kill the poor roosters they make great pets just ask around and find someone to take them!
the hens had a different experience of so many roosters.
