    The gameplay shown is modded, however, none of the mods change any of the topics discussed.
    The main ones you may notice are a change in HUD colour as well as more pedestrians/cars (and the ability to fly so I could get some B-roll!) I can drop a list for those who either wish to have the same as me or are curious about my transparency. [edit:] WHERE THE HELL DID Y'ALL COME FROM THIS IS MY FIRST UPLOAD

    As you ask in the opening, I had no idea about the additional info on the ads. What a nice nugget of info that reveals what catches attention to the people who populate the world, or at least what they are being told they need by the groups that govern their lives.

    • @CallumHowISeeEm
      @CallumHowISeeEm  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      100%!! And it makes sense that that would be a way that they'd advertise -- focusing on the imagery of their ad primarily and giving the details for those with augmented eyes, which would be a solid chunk of the population, I'd assume!

  • @ВячеславФролов-д7я
    @ВячеславФролов-д7я 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

    I'll add two points here:
    1. CDPR are great at expressing the main character's interest in doing their quests. In all the witchers and in the cyberpunk, your character has a real, human motivation to do what he/she is supposed to do. Take fallout 4, for example: my son is missing, fuck that, I gonna build settlements. That's a major immersion-breaking point. In cyberpunk, V really has to do all those quests, and we, as players, feel connected to our character, because we'd do something similar in those circumstances.
    2. I love how the game constantly reminds us about our decisions via text messages. No way you'll forget what you've done, because other characters will remind you via their texts

    • @CallumHowISeeEm
      @CallumHowISeeEm  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ВячеславФролов-д7я been a while since I played the Witcher (and I only played 3), but that's a great observation! (And so is the other one)!
      Texting in games oftentimes feels tacked-on, and while this one could be called that, I do feel like there's more effort than most, especially just because you can directly partake in text conversations as well

  • @Texaboose

    Good video and hoping to see more in the future. The depressing thing about the PL ending, is that it answers Dex's question at the start "Would you rather live in peace as Mr. Nobody, die ripe, old and smelling slightly of urine? Or go down for all times in a blaze of glory, smelling near like posies, without seeing your thirtieth?"
    Even though there is a hope that V could continue their life, maybe become a fixer, a lot of people would rather a different ending (Star ending, or even Sun) where V's life is shortened, but ironically, not as bleak.
    Side note: My favorite line of dialog is from Skye/Angel at Clouds, "You have been keeping up. You've made an impact. Not a single thing in this world isn't in the process of becoming something else, likewise, you never look back. If you gotta kill, kill. If you gotta burn it all to the ground, then let it burn."

    • @CallumHowISeeEm
      @CallumHowISeeEm  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Absolutely! I think tonally it is basically one of the most fitting endings - that and "The Sun". Good call!
      And yeah, there's some great lines in the game I actually have written down and or have used at times myself. For those truly wanting to pay attention, there's a lot of impact in the writing!

    • @negative6442
      @negative6442 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      The PL ending isn't one of my favorites but I always headcanoned that V still has plenty of options even after that. Like specifically I was male nomad V for my first PL run, and I was like there's no shot V isn't tearing across the desert after Panam, doesn't matter how big the "no" Mitch gave was.

Haven't played Phantom Liberty yet, since my computer can't handle it and no next gen console, but one day I will. Hopefully soon. even though it is a single player game, the little details of the game make you feel so immersive that you find many creative ways to spend your time, many times without realizing it I am playing a different role, I can go from being a ruthless killer to a very careful pacifist, depending on my mood, sometimes I play a super hero, or a corrupt cop, or a ninja, or sometimes just a professional photographer hunting for the best shot... Another thing that gives immersion is the decisions you make, you can miss part of the story if you make a bad decision, and the other characters really do their job well in making you feel bad for making a bad decision.

    Ok, the things you are observing
    1- the ads in the game comes from the film "minority report" (which is inspired by the cyberpunk genre), where the Tom Cruise character Anderson has his eyes removed, to avoid retina scan recognition and as his character is bombarded with targeted ads as he walks through the railway station.
    2- the music is a significant part of the background of the RTG- TTRPG, and it's designer Mike Pondsmith had a big influence in the feel of the computer game. So "Rockerboy" is a character type in that game and the music scene of the world is an important part of the background written by Mike Pondsmith - Silverhand and Eurodyne are major NPCs he created in CP2020, so these characters being part of the game, hints to the world building history of the background.
    3- Narrative world building is all covered in the background data provided by the TTRPG, the slang terms of the world comes from the TT game as do the corporations, the politics and history.
    So I think you probably need to look at the Cyberpunk Wiki and get a deeper dive into the background of the game.

    I feel you on the driving vs fast travel even if the marker is close, they designed this game well. You drive even when it’s close because you might need ur car again for a further drive, and it’s more convenient to bring it with than to walk back to it or call for it again thru the traffic. And if there’s a further drive after you reached ur marker you’re not gonna fast travel and sit behind a load screen when you still might need ur car again which no pun intended, drives the gameplay loop. Throw in the immersive atmosphere and nice traffic and boom you’re just immersed off game mechanics alone 🎉

    They also invented 4 distinct design languages for the game - Kitsch, Neo Kitsch, Neomilitarism and Entropism and these shape a lot of the game's architecture and fashion. After a while you can tell what kind of district you are entering based on the clothes that crowd npc's are wearing.
    Also the street signs are accurate (although if driving it can be hard to see them, especially at speed). I don't know if this is a bug, but if you enter photomode, the street signs turn into adverts. Whether it is or it isn't, I have my own personal dystopian head cannon for it.

    15:00 Funny enough, this was also a thing in Morrowind. Many missions would tell you to come back after an amount of time has passed, or after you've gained enough levels in some skills or character level. The game basically just tells you "do some side missions now".
    That's something that Oblivion lost to a great deal, and just dropped in Skyrim.
    Oh, and nearly all the slang came from the TTRPG.

    The devs even made the experience of sitting in a car and watching city life go by an experience. It´s truely amazing and imo one of the best roleplaying games ever made. Can´t wait for the next cyberpunk game, because this is an incredible IP.

    The one thing I like about Cyberpunk 2077 is the dialogue, the characters when they talk to you they feel like real people, they move like real people, you can clearly see their reaction either with their bodies or their faces and is way better in the phantom liberty expansion, most games that are first person don't do that, they just give you a static camera and the npc talking to you feels lifeless because they just stay in one place while they talk, there are some games with amazing facial animation but they still lack in the expression of the bodies they always choose to have the conversation with the player while standing in place, another game I think that does it like Cyberpunk is the Metro games

  • @coreparad0x485
    @coreparad0x485 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

    You touched on a lot of the reasons why I think this is hands down the most immersive game I think I've played. There are so many small details in the game that you may not notice but just feel natural. Things like how in dialog scenes NPCs will hand you things, or make you a drink. Or how in the first Peralez mission his wife will make him a drink while he sits on the couch across from you, then she'll come up behind him and hand it to him, sit on the back of the couch and put her hand on his shoulder. There's random side gigs, like one in Phantom Liberty, where you're asked if you were tailed. You kind of say no, but if you're paying attention you can see Johnny appear next to some suspicious looking dude who shows up after you sit down. How various side gig stories can, if you're paying attention and catch it, tie into an overall much larger plot indicating something big is going on behind the scenes. Big players are moving, completely unrelated to you, and you can completely miss the evidence of it. There's just *so much* stuff. As rocky as a launch as the game had, a lot of this stuff was there in the beginning too. I've done many play throughs, different endings, looked into a ton of lore. I had no idea the ads did this as well lol.
    Seriously one of my favorite RPGs. I really hope they pull off the second game, but I'm a bit concerned since they're apparently handing it off to another studio of theirs in Boston I think it was.

    I "discovered" the game 2 or so years ago on PS5. I avoided because I was no fan of 1st person games..but I was so bored with GTA & Red Dead that I needed something new. Since then I've amassed a combined 1700 hours in numerous playthrus. I loved it so much that the next logical step was buying a high end PC and experiencing the game in its greatest form and gaining the ability to use mods. I have found no other game since that is so immersive. There is so much to see and do that it has yet to get boring for me and Im not sure it will. Phantom Liberty was a stroke of pure genius...however CDPR stating they'd move on after was a total bummer. With recent events Im secretly hoping they've maybe changed their minds and are working on one more expansion (or farming that work out to another studio). Im just not ready for the experience to end and Im a tiny bit apprehensive they'll achieve the level of immersion in the second installment they did on the first one. A lot of turnover in that studio since!

    Both endings are completely different and each one hits you differently, right in the feelies.
    Both are bittersweet in different ways as you play to the end.
    The Phantom Liberty unique endings are really well done, depending on who you betray or which decision you made.
    The 3+ hours of music is spectacular, and the different ending credits songs are powerful.
    Best game for me in this decade, I have poured over 1000 hours in rhe game and still haven't seen everything yet.
    Not to even mention how much better the game looks after DLSS 4 rolled out even for users with 20-series cards. I feel no pressure to upgrade from my 4090 to a 5090 for now as the graphics are already top-notch.

      The game is in a weird spot of being underrated in some of its aspects (like how I think it being in first-person all the time is overall a good thing for the immersion) but it did get rightly flamed at launch, and even some features that should have been in much sooner taking time to release. But at the end of the day, I've been a believer since Day 1 and am happy that general consensus has turned around!

    • @EthanMonero
      @EthanMonero 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yep, “in a weird spot” describes the game very well. It is overhyped and same time underrated. I waited for the game since first teaser trailer which was showed 13-ish years ago? And its really hard to express what I felt when it released (I even bought new GPU). I played long enough at start to appreciate great story and atmosphere, but game mechanics did not make sense. Performance weren’t terrible but it was mediocre. After some time I just dropped it and accepted that the game was in fact unfinished and well we just have to wait.

  • @BxPanda7
    @BxPanda7 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Honestly, allot of these things contribute to immersion, but on their own don't create immersion. What I mean by that is you can watch a movie that doesn't have any of these things, and still be completely immersed into it, because the very most important thing for immersion is interest, if something doesn't interest you in the slightest, you will not be immersed.
    There's a reason why you love driving in Cyberpunk and find it boring in GTA 5, because the GTA 5 map IS boring, it's just current day Los Angeles, something that already isn't very interesting design wise, with a degree of realism that makes it hard to really care about small details because they're so prevalent your brain can't process all of them, especially when you're already uninterested to begin with.
    Cyberpunk on the other hand transports you into a completely novel world that oozes with "cool" and everything about it just looks awesome, so you don't even have to look at the small details because the complete picture is already fresh and interesting, and THAT creates immersion.
    And it is when you are already immersed that you start looking closer and noticing all these small details in the world, that act exactly like they should and push the realism of the experience so much further and ADD to the immersion, making it feel closer and closer to reality, and that is where Cyberpunk is excellent. I truly think that if it was a VR game with a good control scheme and a better open world sandbox, people would be addicted.

    • @CallumHowISeeEm
      @CallumHowISeeEm  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Definitely! These are elements that contribute (and aren't even remotely all of the elements that do), but they're also elements that have been tuned to the max for immersion. They could have half-assed the soundtrack, script, or details so long as the facade was strong enough to be immersive, but they didn't, and that's neat!
      I have every intention of making a video in the future talking about what actually makes "immersion", and what the difference between immersion and realism is, but I just wanted to start with this lil' project :)

    Only like 5 minutes in to your video but on the driving around GTAV vs 2077, I think there's two things that make driving in 2077 more fun:
    1: Night City is just a beautiful place to look at. Tall buildings draped in neons, winding and bustling streets, chaotic highways, etc etc. Driving around Night City really just makes you want to look at the surroundings. Meanwhile GTAV is just... Los Angeles. And Los Santos isn't exactly the most interesting place to look at, with the rest of the island even less so.
    2: The roads in Night City are far more engaging. As I mentioned before, they're very chaotic and don't really have the organized, grid-like flow that's in GTAV. Then in GTAV, when you're leaving Los Santos proper, there's really only 2 roads in and out of the city that you'll be driving through over and over and over again.

    Immersion, if you think about it, is not just a result of what is in the world. It also comes about by the absence of certain things. Immersion is broken by things that jar, little things that make you go "wait, what?", things that don't belong, things that break the consistency of the world around you.
    Everything in Cyberpunk 2077 just _makes sense!_ All the various city districts, and the areas outside of it, make sense on their own, but they are also connected to each other very fittingly. What you see in Pacifica belongs there, what happens in Dog Town all fits in its little mini-world. But together they also belong. The roads and metro lines connect them all in a very credible way, a way that mirrors what we could expect from a city that would be run like a money-making corporation. Or, well, several corporations. It has lore, it has backstories and it is all fully consistent with itself and it is _utterly believable!_
    That is, I think, what gives CP2077 its incredible captivating power. It isn't real, obviously, it is a world in a computer game. But in some sense this world _IS_ real because its creators have gone above and beyond to make it credible!

      The greenscreen-holding-the-mic recording is definitely better than the sitting-and--talking for this type of content, I feel! I feel honoured to even be compared lol

    Slang was def from the TTRPG. It is crazy how much of this world was created like 40 years ago even down to things like Choom. CDProjectRed still a lot to bring it to life obviously though. I'd also point out how great of a job they did with making sure Edgerunners was made very faithfully and then backfilling that into the game world.

    I love GTA radio and at first I was a little disappointed with cyberpunk's radios. I loved all the sound tracks ... Just didn't like the radio as much. But then it grew on me and it did more than grew on me. I absolutely LOVE countless songs on the radio. I love the fictional Samurai band, I love all their songs. I love tons of songs and all of them are unique to the game. Only song that I truly absolutely despise is pon pon ... I cannot stand that song and I will likely mod it out of the fn game if that is possible when my 5080 arrives and I start a new playthrough lol

      I like ponpon because it shows the range of things that came together to make Night City what it is, but I can see why it's annoying lol. When I streamed the game on release (on my old, now-defunct channel), my chat would pop off with pugPLS and stuff when it came on. But now when I listen to it, it can be a bit drab!
