@@AStoryWorthTellingOkay…they didn’t forget the lube. In the scene where Zara catches them in the hotel room there was lube on the nightstand next to the bed 😉
And at 0:17 there are several very obviously placed (from a props/production standpoint) condom wrappers strewn about. I was so pleased about that. ❤️🤍👑💙
The realistic vs. idealistic conversation between Alex and Ellen actually has a double meaning, when you think about Alex and Henry's relationship. Alex is the idealistic one, whereas Henry is realistic. Mainly because the Crown has forced him into a box where that is the only way he knows how to think. It takes Alex's support and understanding for him to come to terms with the fact that he CAN have what he wants...that it IS possible...rather than just sticking to the pessimistic approach that he will be stuck in the closet his whole life.
Came here while watching to see if anyone mentioned this lol. And to mention that it’s awesome they did it that way since the book makes it clear that Henry is not a singer lol
I love that you guys mention there having been gay royals before. In the book Alex and Henry spend a lot of their emails talking about queer historical figures, including gay kings (James I, in particular). All their emails end with quotes from famous historical love letters (usually queer). The “history, huh?” line is actually from one of their emails, in reference to that. The book is very aware of queer history and how Alex and Henry become part of that history, in a way the movie isn’t.
there just wasn't enough time to have that be part of it. but there are little hints of it, though. from Alex putting a perfume genius cover on at the museum to Alex and Henry talking about Byron when they were flirting
Yes, I was about to comment this too. Tbh I really don’t like the movie compared to the book. But maybe I’m just super spoiled after Heartstopper was such an amazingly accurate adaptation.
@@Tustin2121 Heartstopper is a serial and from a series of Graphic novels. Much less material to cover and in many episodes. If you thought a 2 hour movie could cover everything in a 448 page book .............. Well lets just say you seem to let completely unrealistic expectations rule your life..... Not practical or even possible.....You are not "spoiled"....... your irrational.
@@donny1960 - Which is why it should have been more than a two hour movie. It should have been a miniseries. And excuse me for ‘owning’ “irrational” for hoping my favorite romance book ever would be made into a better movie/TV adaptation, with an actual budget, one big enough to afford things like actual crowd shots. If that makes me “irrational”, then I hate to see what you think is “rational”.
@@Tustin2121 Rational is knowing what you are getting. Not wishful thinking or regret that things are not what you would like. Sure we all would have liked it to be a miniseries..... But guess what???? It was not. The movie is making millions of people happy and they are content with what was presented. You do not have to like it. But to dislike it because it is and never was going to be what you hoped for is irrational in my mind. Expressing huge devotion towards something does not usually alter reality.... It is not irrational to want something to be better..... I think it is irrational to expect the same result when you know it did not take on the form you had hoped for. That is my only point.
Not to forget Taylor’s mum is a Mexican and when he talks about immigrant and in America with a name that ends with Z. Taylor’s real name also ends with Z. So I can really understand how well he connects with Alex
Taylor's name has two z's, Zahkar and Perez I'm glad he's the actor who got the role to say that very line, and that it's been heard through Prime video and way beyond.
There’s a Z on Galitzine as well 😉 But yes, the director said that’s one of the reasons why Taylor was cast. He really understood what it means to be an immigrant in the US.
@@Purple_Box i guess what we actually meant is that in latin america when our last names end on a z it means we cannot "blend in" with white people. Anywhere we go, we will be obviously not white and people are able to tell just from our name. And even though we can obviously be proud of our heritage it also can make us lose a lot of opportunities because sadly that's how the world works.
NEW details I noticed after multiple rewatch! 1. Henry put his hand over his heart when he was underwater 🥹 2. their change of sleeping position: After the confession, Alex was hugging and holding Henry’s wrist! Like he’s afraid of waking up again and seeing Henry gone 😭
It was really unfair to Nick to having him swim after Taylor. Taylor cuts water like a damn shark. I surf and I’m jealous. At least in this film Henry gets to play the piano better than his boyfriend.
I think the reason Henry’s swimming is so choppy is that the director made him swim with his head out of the water. Why, you ask? Because 1) it shows Henry’s anguish, and 2) it would be criminal to hide Nick’s face.
It honestly blows my mind how we get to here “bisexual” stated so explicitly in so many things now. This wouldn’t have felt like a possibility to me even five years ago ❤
The scene where Alex manages to talk to Henry after the emails have been leaked breaks my heart. I cried a lot when I saw it the first time. Henry's affection, his concern for Alex even though he knew he was destroyed. But it was Alex saying that he would break the sound barrier for Henry that touched me. That's all anyone wants in a partner, regardless of sexual orientation. Things can be difficult, complicated, unfair, but all we want is someone to be there for us in the midst of the chaos that is life.
And Henry running down the stairs and into Alex's arms... with Bach's "Sheep May Safely Graze" playing in the background! And they just collapse together on the stairs... 😭😭
@@Belaughif he's the only one in the world that knows about it and uses it whenever he wants, isn't that the definition of "having" something? Maybe not legally own it, but that's his. I was baffled, because if I thought it HOW he, the one with the "not owning a key" trauma, doesn't see it? How does he not latch into it being his secret key.
The book was from Alex’s perspective so I imagine that is why the film mainly focuses on his pov. I actually like the changes the film made to the story. Some characters were omitted and plot points simplified, but it made for an easy watch. I’m glad I read the book after I watched the movie though.
As a gay American, I am so glad that I got to watch this amazing movie with two amazing British gays. Our united LGBTQ+ community allowing us to share our cultures from across the pond. You two always bring such passion to your content and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you and I am looking forward to the next video!!!
@@AStoryWorthTelling I agree. It was really fun watching you guys react to the the fun, saucy, and sad scenes. I especially liked your reactions to Alex's speech after the emails are leaked. As a gay American and a Democrat, I also felt a huge swell of pride seeing Ellen Claremont win Texas (talk about a fairy tale) and be reelected. Also, this was very subtle, but Ellen Claremont also won Georgia! Thank you Stacey Abrams. On the other hand, my partner was not happy at all that Minnesota was red. The large majority of Minnesotans would rather eat glass and wash it down with rubbing alcohol than vote for a Republican.
The key thing is so funny considering in the book henry literally says “Funny thing about being a prince-people will give you keys to just about anything if you ask nicely.” like he do be having keys. A lot of them actually
At the end of RWRB you guys said it had made you feel "confident...powerful....and YEA!" I am a 96 year old gay man and it did the same for me--it felt like it allowed me to accept another part of myself that I had neglected. Thank you for that observation of what you felt--no other criticism that I have watched (and I have watched a lot of them) expressed that response. My gratitude goes to Matthew Lopez who adapted Casey McQuiston's story and, for a first time, directed it. What a gift his movie is!
The silent reaction to the iconic “My life is the crown, and yours is politics, and I will not trade one prison for another” is honestly something I can relate to because I had to take a moment to breathe right then. Well, in a different way than during some other scenes between Henry and Alex, but you know what I mean
The scene in the museum broke me in a way that I haven’t been broken in YEARS. It was so full of vulnerability and emotion and GENUINE LOVE. And honestly, I think it was the best work that Nicholas and Taylor do in the entire film, even more so in the way they look at each other than the words that are spoken. It’s the kind of love we ALL deserve. ❤ And yeah, Alex’s speech is SPOT ON. 👏🏽
3:35 yes love, the Emails were an important part of the book, and they were so much sweeter because of the quotes they put on the end. It was always parts of historical letters between secret gay couples 😍 it was beyond romantic
Yeah - I read (heard really) the book after seeing the movie and have to say the email potion of the film is entirely to small. I understand why but it makes the enormity of the intimacy these two had and how big a breech it was much more vivid - and also it IS such a vital and romantic part of the story that I really really like the book version better. Also because some other important sideline relations have not been detailed enough in the movie ... like the Withehouse trio that later becomes "the gang", Raphael Luna ! and Bee of course. I would have liked to see more of that as well but as I said, I understand the reasons why it is difficult in the film. I can really recommend the audiobook by the way. Casey McQuiston reads it very good and manages a good British accent (as fas as I as a German can be a judge of that ... 😅🙈
And don't forget that Henry always wanted to be a writer. So I was not surprised by the emails he sent to Alex! He really knows what to write and how to write!
the synchronized 'awwww's' after the pizza line from alex's mom was so cute, the way you guys freaked when you saw stephen fry was absolutely iconic and i have to tell you that nicholas galitzine who plays henry is actually a great singer but henry absolutely butchers the song in the book lmao so it's kind of impressive he pulled that off. i loved watching your reaction to this and i'll probably come back to it from time to time. thank you for being so thoughtful and honest in sharing your thoughts while also coming through with every unfiltered unhinged thought that enters your minds
I can't unsee this so now you also get the pleasure. The actor who plays Alex was a 'professional' swimmer and his swimming is so smooth and then Henry looks like he is almost drowning when swimming away.
2:29 to answer your question they’re are A LOT of gays in Texas (my self included), it’s just that we all live in small super religious and homophobic towns
It so great to see queer love stories that aren't just tragic and have a legitimate happy ending. Even if its cheesy and somewhat unrealistic, its still refreshing. Another really great wholesome queer romcom you should totally check out is The Thing About Harry. Its basically When Harry Met Sally but gay, a bit of a hidden gem.
I literally didn’t even make the connection until watching these guys! That’s honestly so damn cool! And now all I hear is “now go do sports ~” lol. Us Americans need to step up our game tbh 👀
@@RevealCleaningServicesDon't know if you found out already, but in case you didn't, you don't actually see Stephen Fry in Heartstopper. He voices the headmaster over the speakers!
Well done guys. The movie made me laugh, cry, said "ridiculous" a few times, then cried again, and the hope that love wins. I didn't realize how much I needed a positive queer rom-com, until I watched this one. Really hope more movies like these are made...we deserve happy romantic love stories. Thank you for always bringing that something extra special to your reactions.
Compared to those melancholic and profound movies, this type of movie is my life-saving straw and spiritual sustenance in a pessimistic real world. This world requires fairy tale like love to heal all unpleasant things. This world is like Barbie, with women in power and free love. It's so beautiful, and I believe that they will always be happy in the parallel universe❤
Your comments and reactions were priceless. One small correction, which I think you'll like: the crowds outside the palace and in the other cities are not only LGBTQ+. They're everybody! This is such an optimistic movie, and the public reaction, judging by TH-cam videos alone, is overwhelming.
As a Texan, the falling in love at karaoke scene is sooo Texan. I'm personally not the type, but I know there's a lot of romance around Texan karaoke. So I laughed when the camera zoomed in on Alex, because I was like "typical."
I don’t know how many times I’ve already re-watched this and I always break down laughing like a crazy person when I hear this -It’s a taxi -In you get -Airport’s that way 😂😂😂 You two are so amazing!
Just two teeny-tiny details ❤️ That phrase Alex says in the museum "History uh?" it's an iconic quote from the book... and, in the scene at the end where Uma Thurman is writing the concession speech, the person at the computer writing is Casey McQuiston, the author of the original novel ❤️ As usual, love you both 🌈❤ you always make me smile and laugh so much 😘😘
When I was watching the film and it came to Alex's speech after being outed, it struck me because of all the bullet points that it hit, like it is so real the thing of "it is queer people's choices when thwy want to come out wnd if they want to come out" and I think it's a beautiful thing to say in a film because we don't hear it often even in everyday life. Also the whole thing that he said about the fact that because they are famous, that does not give people the right to out them, it kinda made me thing of the whole thing that happened with Kit Connor (who plays Nick in Heartstopper) and how basically people put so much pressure on him to come out. I don't really know what my point is but yeah that's basically what I wanted to say
If you guys do read the book, I’d love if you did a video or podcast talking about your thoughts. The romance is so much deeper in the book, the emails are everything, and the source of the leak is completely different. If you liked the movie, I think you’ll love the book, it’s truly a work of art.
I would also really really love if they came back with thoughts on the book if they decide to read it! BTW, the audiobook is fabulous if that's easier. Just don't forget to track down the bonus chapter, which can be found in various places online. ❤️🤍👑💙
Thank you for this. NOW READ THE BOOK. Casey did say they were going to go darker with the story but when 2016 election happened and that wotsit got into office they wanted to create a happier alternative reality. Matthew and the entire team especially nick and taylor did an amazing job. As far as adaptations go its one of the top ones x
Great reaction guys! I loved both the movie and the book. The book is from Alex's POV, he's the protagonist so makes sense that the movie is mainly from his perspective. In the special edition of the book, set a couple of years later, there is a big epilogue-like chapter from Henry's POV and it is wonderful and swoony. Hopefully, they are saving that for the sequel to this film.
@@jamielinellyeah, the extra chapter is in the collectors edition of the book. But some people have uploaded pictures of the extra chapter on social media( I read it on tumblr) so technically you can read it online and don't HAVE to buy a whole new book if you have the normal edition of the book.
That bit of banter about the cactus between you too was hilarious (along with so many other moments). This was a wonderful, insightful review (both parts) and I'm glad that you loved the movie. I'm not really the demographic for this movie (old, straight/cis, white woman), and yet, in all my years, this is truly one of the most romantic movies I have ever watched (dare I say 'swooniest'?). That scene in the museum makes my heart swell and the tears flow every single damn time I watch it, and I've watched it a lot!
In some way I think Henry thinks he's explained himself to Alex enough that Alex would know the boundaries he's set for himself and respect them. Alex crossed the line by saying 'I Love You'. Alex should understand it's now over. Hence the comment Henry makes later about 'having done nothing but explain myself this past year' when Alex is confronting him at the palace.
To be fair to Henry, he literally had that talk with Alex their first ever night together, about how he “can’t afford” for Alex to fall in love with him. And he warned him, when Alex asked if he could ever belong to someone else, that he could - but only momentarily. I get that Alex didn’t expect to fall in love. But he can’t really claim that Henry didn’t make his own situation perfectly clear from the very beginning. That he didn’t try to tell him what he was getting into. Alex is just so used to be able to follow his own heart…..
@@odile8701 Agree! This is the second time Alex has had to literally confront Henry in person to get a response. It's Henry's MO to disappear and not talk. Which I believe he's gotten away with so far. Until Alex the pushy American. I also don't think Alex could really fully understand the pressure Henry feels to suppress who he is until their heated discussion when Alex 'storms the fucking castle’. I could see the heartbreak in Alex eyes when Henry spoke about ‘not growing up with a loving supportive family’ and ‘the weight of the history on his shoulders’.
There is a missing line of dialogue in the book that really should have made the film, where Henry explains himself by admitting he fell in love with Alex at first sight.....eventually hoped/thought he could have him for a little while, never have to admit he loved him, because he was certain Alex would get bored with him and drop him before that conversation had to happen as he always felt himself to be unlovable, and loving him was too big a responsibility and commitment for anyone to take on. The fact that Alex was trying to say it first put him (Henry) into a flat panic. So he ran. AS much, if not more to protect Alex more than himself @@odile8701
I think that what some reviewers of RWRB don't get is that growing up in an environment where your every move is scrutinised, every wrong word or look is picked over in the media, and you are constantly told that you CANNOT be gay is very heavy and repressing on a young person. Prince Harry's book has shown us part of that type of pressure - he was a pre teen when his mother died and he had to walk behind her coffin in London, forced by the crown to put his grief on display for millions. Henry has obviously had relationships/ONS that his grandfather found out about and has been the subject of a number of disapproving lectures. So much harder for Henry to break free of the restraints.
In that karaoke scene Alex sees the fun loving, carefree Henry who doesn’t have the weight of the crown, the expectations and responsibilities. At that moment Alex falls hard.
I can't stop laughing about Alexs' "I would love to be sandwich between them" 😂😂😂 and this movie made my expectations for a new relationship unrealisticly high 😬 well guys, I really love to "watch" this movies with you. Love you 💜
Genuinely such a classic in the making. I feel like the success of this film has the potential to revive the cheesy feel-good romcom genre (and also make it better and queerer). A little easter egg - the book Alex reads on the hammock is One Last Stop by Casey McQuisiton (they're the author of Red, White & Royal Blue). It's part time-travel mystery, part lesbian romance, part queer found family and I NEED Amazon Prime to make a movie of this one next!
After reading the book a couple of times (only just got it), watching and rewatching the movie, and binge-watching every last reaction video to it, now in order to extract every last bit of feeling from this, I'm going to have to start watching reactions to the reactions videos - and so on. Waiting now to see reactions to this reactions.
This was a delightful, hilarious review that had me crying of laughter. Also the scene where Henry attempts to sing karaoke kinda off-key well Nicholas Galitzine had to butcher that scene on purpose cus his an amazing singer irl I rec to listen his song "comfort" it is incredible
Thanks guys! Great conclusion to your review of a film I thoroughly enjoyed too. It is as representative and good as it is because so many people from Production, to Writing, Direction, & are LGBTQ+. And REALLY wanted to present a classic style rom-com that was funny, idealistic, romantic and entertaining. Where none of us dies, is beaten, drugged, or commits suicide! You both were as funny, charming, and endearing as expected and always! A few observations on some of your comments: *I do see Alex’s metaphor parallel.. but Josh is right. You REALLY have to reach for it! *LOTS of Gays in Texas & Oklahoma! So REALLY HAWT ONES TOO!!! *Josh the emails in the book are more plentiful, insightful, detailed, and raunchy than anything they could get past censors for Amazon Prime! *Every-tine I hear a British person say the word “Bum” I literally “Laugh Out Loud!” So thanks for that. Side note, on “Bums”: Taylor was really worried during filming his “bum” was too hairy for that shot! #Fact… 🤪 *Josh looked like he needed an ice bath every time TZP was onscreen. Especially when shirtless! 🥵 *Politically speaking a scenario like this would not go over AT ALL in Texas at the moment, “Where the men are men! And the Cows are NERVOUS!” That, and the fact Henry is British AND a Royal would ABSOLUTELY not be well received in Red State Bible Belt MAGA “Murica!” *Josh… the lube AND condoms were not forgotten. Both prominently placed and visible on the nightstands by the bed whenever Alex & Henry spent a night together. And in the book, Henry conveniently has a Travel Size container with him in his toiletry bag! *Nick is actually a very good Singer and the Karaoke scene was tuned to deliberately make him sound less than… perfect. *You two throwing shade at Henry’s bedroom… HILARIOUS! #Gay! 😂 *It’s the Victoria (Vicky… again!) & Albert Museum at 3:40am. *”Cotton-eyed Joe?!”… SERIOUSLY?! 🤠 *Miguel is 100% a BITTER JEALOUS BITCH… and we hate her! Made even more egregious because in the film (different in the book) the “Outing” was done by a member of “The Family” who knows better! 🤬 *Alex, apparently in a version of the book which I personally have not read. There is an additional chapter which is entirely from Henry’s perspective. Giving a more British pov. Remembering the miracle that can only take place in Fiction that this movie is, Where the Democrat woman, with the bi-sexual, half-Mexican son, who is boinking a Royal Prince of England… wins Texas for a Presidential re-Election!” 🤣🤣🤣 #WeCanDream Thanks for the entertaining review and I am looking forward to seeing what you tackle next! 😎
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤ I have now seen it 14 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
OK, I've already seen the movie twice, and now thanks to seeing both parts of your reaction to "Red, White and Royal Blue" I'm a puddle of smears (smiles and tears) for the third time. Thank you for another of your wonderful videos.👨❤👨🥰
I think the museum was represented that he could feel that he could easily and without fear walk among people and be himself. Dance with someone he loves without anyone watching or judging him.
Texas flipping blue ain’t happening anytime soon as much as I hope it would. Also as a Minnesotan, I’m very offended that they would make Minnesota red. We’ve voted blue more than any other state in history!
As the election results came in and Texas flipped to blue I was thinking, If ANY political campaigner/consultant could actually pull off that kind of upset they would immediately be the hottest pol in America. They could write their own ticket and have whatever job in politics they wanted.
The emails in the book are my favorite part of the book they are really beautiful actually even far better than what they showed in the movie. Also Bea Henry’s sister is such a great character in the book but she’s kind of just “nice sister” in the movie. Also in the book the leaked emails have a completely different origin. They added the reporter character for the film 💜 thanks for the reaction!
Did anyone else notice when Henry dives into the water and floats for a minute he puts his hand over his heart? I mean the subtle detail. How romantic was Alex’s line to Henry: ‘It’s like there’s a rope attached to my chest and it keeps pulling me towards you….’
I am really loving all of these new shows and movies coming out for LGBTQ that touch on important themes and give advice without showcasing drama and insanity. We are seeing media that is telling viewers “be proud of who you are and don’t let anyone take that away from you.” And it’s really really beautiful. Even two years ago, we didn’t have that. It makes me really excited to see where we go in LGBTQ media from here
Enjoyed this film so much as well as your reaction. It was sweet and uplifting and funny and the casting was perfect. Alex and Henry were hot and had great chemistry. I hope they make a sequel that’s good. I wish they hadn’t made a journalist the bad guy. The book did not have an unethical reporter but the other campaign play dirty. Reporters work very hard and for the most part do an important service. ( Lots of reporter friends here. Lol)
I'll say that the gay rival-for-Alex's-affections reporter being the bad guy is really the only (but a veryVERY large) sour note for me with the movie. Though I'm not a fan of the books subplot about . . . (SPOILERS) . . . the characterization of the bad-guy politician and his... proclivities... either. Like, can we just not? But at least it's _briefly_ called out in the book.
I was waiting for this part 2 and I'm so glad you guys enjoyed as much as I did!!! 🤧🤧💖💖 This story (book and movie) was everything for me, we need more cute queer romcoms like this one! 🥰🏳️🌈💖
Hope you guys read the book!! It goes a lot deeper into trauma, complicated family dynamics, and struggles within themselves. The characters’ dynamics go a lot deeper!!! Not just the romance, but everyone’s!!!!
My goodness!! I loved your reaction to this movie guys!!! I think this movie needs a sequel, it's giving us so much already! We need to keep making History!
Can't begin to explain how much I love watching your vids, they always make my day better ✨ back when I was a teen, there was no way in hell we'd get this kind of representation and now we have so much LGBTQ media. there's still a long way to go but your channel makes me feel like we're not alone anymore.
Speaking of gay kings, Nicholas Galitzine (Henry) will be in Mary and George, playing George Villiers, who was a lover of James I. Apparently it will be on Sky Atlantic sometime this year.
this is one of my favourite books so to see it as a movie means so much! I highly reccommend you read the book next not giving spoilers as there's quite a few differences but there's a bigger emphasis on the emails and such! the emails are genuinely beautifully written and talk so much about queer history it's incredible.
Excellent commentary! Great to see the reactions of a couple of Brits to this film... Thank you! Greetings from over here on the American side of the pond!

Isn't this what Alex said? (The story worth telling one not the movie one xD)
@@DannyRayqu He was pointing it out from a real world context, not in relation to the story but essentially yes.
The whole movie is idealistic, while in reality, Texas would never be a democratic state. It's not very Texan to be democratic.

So I can really understand how well he connects with Alex
that line was said by a Diaz, played by a Perez and directed by a Lopez ❤
As a latin american person whose last name also ends with a Z that line was so meaningful.
Taylor's name has two z's, Zahkar and Perez
I'm glad he's the actor who got the role to say that very line, and that it's been heard through Prime video and way beyond.
There’s a Z on Galitzine as well 😉
But yes, the director said that’s one of the reasons why Taylor was cast.
This is the Bisexual representation I need in my life.
NEW details I noticed after multiple rewatch!
1. Henry put his hand over his heart when he was underwater 🥹
2. their change of sleeping position:
After the confession, Alex was hugging and holding Henry’s wrist! Like he’s afraid of waking up again and seeing Henry gone 😭
😢
"Are there gays in texas" absolutely destroyed me😂💀
will never not laugh at the fact that the actor that plays Alex was a natially ranked swimmer as a kid and you can really see the difference
Them shoulders don't lie either...
@@sbashkatova He also plays soccer better. 😀
I have waited my whole life for Uma Thurman to be in a movie where she asks her son if he’s a bottom. That scene literally made my life
“He DOES own a key!” That was my exact reaction when I saw it the first time. 😂
Well, he doesn't actually own a key. It is hidden in a niche in the stonework, not brought with him from KP.
Hope everyone is excited for part 2! ❤
Of course!!! 🥰
Can't wait to watch. Unless you guys hate it then I'll just cry
Pleeeeeeeeeeeez read the book.
One reason to read the book is for the many beautiful, expressive and witty e-mails of these two guys who miss each other so much. Very touching.
@@marthahammel8543the emails are so beautiful and sexy. I love the quotes they share.
Aw thank yoouuuu ❤️🇺🇸🇬🇧
@@SeattleSandro I can understand that South Dakota lights up red two minutes after the poles open!
“Between a rock and a hard prince.” 😂😂😂😂😂
The key thing is so funny considering in the book henry literally says “Funny
thing about being a prince-people will give you keys to just about
anything if you ask nicely.” like he do be having keys.
Are you really freaking 96? omg
You sir, are a gem ❤
The silent reaction to the iconic “My life is the crown, and yours is politics, and I will not trade one prison for another” is honestly something I can relate to because I had to take a moment to breathe right then. Well, in a different way than during some other scenes between Henry and Alex, but you know what I mean
"All people wanna do is be able to dance with their partner." Thanks, I managed to watch the film without crying, but now you've sent me
The scene in the museum broke me in a way that I haven’t been broken in YEARS. It was so full of vulnerability and emotion and GENUINE LOVE. And honestly, I think it was the best work that Nicholas and Taylor do in the entire film, even more so in the way they look at each other than the words that are spoken. It’s the kind of love we ALL deserve. ❤
And yeah, Alex’s speech is SPOT ON.
The reaction to Stephen Fry playing the King was so funny.
And don't forget that Henry always wanted to be a writer. So I was not surprised by the emails he sent to Alex!
He really knows what to write and how to write!
12:51 is probably the best reaction I have ever seen, ''he, he drowned???''
the line delivery alone was comedy gold I COULD NOT STOP LAUGHING 🤣🤣
He was in over his head, as it were.
the synchronized 'awwww's' after the pizza line from alex's mom was so cute, the way you guys freaked when you saw stephen fry was absolutely iconic and i have to tell you that nicholas galitzine who plays henry is actually a great singer but henry absolutely butchers the song in the book lmao so it's kind of impressive he pulled that off.
i loved watching your reaction to this and i'll probably come back to it from time to time. thank you for being so thoughtful and honest in sharing your thoughts while also coming through with every unfiltered unhinged thought that enters your minds
I can't unsee this so now you also get the pleasure.
The actor who plays Alex was a 'professional' swimmer and his swimming is so smooth and then Henry looks like he is almost drowning when swimming away.
Yes, because he was in a panic and desperate to get away
2:29 to answer your question they’re are A LOT of gays in Texas (my self included), it’s just that we all live in small super religious and homophobic towns
It so great to see queer love stories that aren't just tragic and have a legitimate happy ending. Even if its cheesy and somewhat unrealistic, its still refreshing. Another really great wholesome queer romcom you should totally check out is The Thing About Harry. Its basically When Harry Met Sally but gay, a bit of a hidden gem.
Stephen Fry was such brilliant casting both in this and ‘Heartstopper’.
I literally didn’t even make the connection until watching these guys! That’s honestly so damn cool! And now all I hear is “now go do sports ~” lol. Us Americans need to step up our game tbh 👀
He was in Heartstopper? Who did he play? I have to watch it again I guess.
@@RevealCleaningServices He is the voice of the Principal.
@@RevealCleaningServiceshe’s the principal. We never see him only hear his announcements
@@RevealCleaningServicesDon't know if you found out already, but in case you didn't, you don't actually see Stephen Fry in Heartstopper. He voices the headmaster over the speakers!
The way you yelled “Stephen!!” Made me say “I thought you were dead!” (The horse)
Amen. ❤🏳️🌈
“I’d love to be SANDWICH between them” 5:00 that was my only mood 😂
I don’t know how many times I’ve already re-watched this and I always break down laughing like a crazy person when I hear this
-It’s a taxi
-In you get
-Airport’s that way
😂😂😂
You two are so amazing!
The "he DOES own a key" comment made me laugh so hard that I queefed. The sound made me jump, which in turn, made me queef again.
Alex’ speech is the best speech I’ve ever heard, and it’s fictional.
Just two teeny-tiny details ❤️ That phrase Alex says in the museum "History uh?" it's an iconic quote from the book... and, in the scene at the end where Uma Thurman is writing the concession speech, the person at the computer writing is Casey McQuiston, the author of the original novel ❤️
As usual, love you both 🌈❤ you always make me smile and laugh so much 😘😘
We need more gay romcoms like this! It warms my heart so much 😻😻😻
we need more *queer* romances like this. i’m ready for a sequel that focuses on the other characters.
The fact that we are nervous for a fake election is priceless 😅
"Come through gays... is it the gays?"
"Go on you queer folk, go on!"
Right in my feels that! ❤
@@icyravensi absolutely love the audiobook. I listen to it all the time.
Have I already watched the uncut reaction on Patreon twice? Yes. Am I still watching the premiere? Also, yes.
I didn't notice the "Not this time." before you guys pointed it out. 😮 Gives even more back story to his anguished set of mind.
Oh I didn't know there was a special edition with another chapter - thanks!
@@jamielinellyeah, the extra chapter is in the collectors edition of the book. But some people have uploaded pictures of the extra chapter on social media( I read it on tumblr) so technically you can read it online and don't HAVE to buy a whole new book if you have the normal edition of the book.
I LOVED your reactions when Stephen Frye entered as the king!!!
😂😂😂the cactus!!! I mean WHO except you guys have focused on the cactus 😂😂
Love you 💜
"Between a Rock and a Hard Prince" would be a great title for a erotica book not gonna lie....
Oh my god yes!! Perfect title for an erotica book! Or soft porn.
"Oh damn.....OH DAMN!!!" You two are so expressive and funny....so glad I found you.
Uma Thurman 🤝 Olivia Colman
MOTHER for being affirming.
The conversation between Alex and his mom is my favorite scene too. It was perfect.😍🤌
I loved the simultaneous gay gasp from you when Alex gave Henry his key. ❤
10:22 A fun fact it’s that the actor ( Nicholas Galitzine ) actually KNOWS how to sing
I enjoyed his version of can’t help falling in love as well.
A few observations on some of your comments:
*I do see Alex’s metaphor parallel.. but Josh is right.
#Fact… 🤪
*Josh looked like he needed an ice bath every time TZP was onscreen. Especially when shirtless! 🥵
*Politically speaking a scenario like this would not go over AT ALL in Texas at the moment, “Where the men are men! And the Cows are NERVOUS!” That, and the fact Henry is British AND a Royal would ABSOLUTELY not be well received in Red State Bible Belt MAGA “Murica!”
*Josh… the lube AND condoms were not forgotten.
#Gay! 😂
*It’s the Victoria (Vicky… again!) & Albert Museum at 3:40am.
*”Cotton-eyed Joe?!”… SERIOUSLY?! 🤠
*Miguel is 100% a BITTER JEALOUS BITCH… and we hate her! Made even more egregious because in the film (different in the book) the “Outing” was done by a member of “The Family” who knows better! 🤬
*Alex, apparently in a version of the book which I personally have not read.
I watched quite a few reactions for the film but I laughed the most at your comments. You guys have such good banter! I'm so glad you loved it
I honestly never felt more single in my life, than watching this LOL
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤
I have now seen it 14 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
I can't wait. That first half review was brilliant - perhaps your most entertaining.
The emails in the book are so romantic, and saucy. I think there are definitely things the film did well, but the book... oh the book.
Texas flipping blue ain’t happening anytime soon as much as I hope it would. Also as a Minnesotan, I’m very offended that they would make Minnesota red. We’ve voted blue more than any other state in history!
Same. Minnesota has voted Blue since 1976!
I thought the same thing when I saw the movie! Lol
Fun Fact: Casey McQuinston’s ‘One Last Stop’ was featured on the scene with the hammock.
Also a great book!
Amazing book! ❤
Her cameo is great too! Glad she was so involved.
Absolutely BEGGING yall to read the book! Theres so much more !!!
Did anyone else notice when Henry dives into the water and floats for a minute he puts his hand over his heart? I mean the subtle detail.
How romantic was Alex’s line to Henry: ‘It’s like there’s a rope attached to my chest and it keeps pulling me towards you….’
And the underwater scene was actually filmed in pre-production but Nicholas delivered it so well on the first try they just kept it like that
Galitzine always goes for such depth in his work it should be a criminal offence!@@modestmi
Yessss, Ellen 4 president!!!! Well, if you've seen the nightstands... Alex and Henry were prepared😂
It makes me really excited to see where we go in LGBTQ media from here
100% agree with you on idealism/realism being paralleled with mom as it is with henry. alex is all idealism.
Though I'm not a fan of the books subplot about

the characterization of the bad-guy politician and his... proclivities... either. Like, can we just not? But at least it's _briefly_ called out in the book.

Hope you guys read the book!! It goes a lot deeper into trauma, complicated family dynamics, and struggles within themselves. The characters’ dynamics go a lot deeper!!! Not just the romance, but everyone’s!!!!
It’s hilarious how there have been 2 Female Presidents in the media (Issa Rae and Uma Thurman) as one approaches the actual US Primaries.
Well fun fact the US kinda already had a US president. Look it up. Its a cool story that isnt talked about.

this is one of my favourite books so to see it as a movie means so much!
