- We've sold our farmhouse and are moving our things into a shipping container. We also get started on the strapping for the metal roof on our cabin extension.
Our names are Ashley & Jeremy and we are building a cabin alone in the Canadian wilderness.
We're a couple trying our best to live a more self reliant life after a medical release from the army changed everything. We are currently building on a small mountain in the woods. We'll be sharing that and much more, so subscribe. - บันเทิง

No regret on our shipping container, it does get HOT in the sun, but hopefully your trees will offer some shade 😄. I highly recommend pallet racking, cut it to size and youll have floor to ceiling storage 😁
You should consider putting housewrap now around the plywood on the new building. it looks like it’s absorbing water.. overall, it’s coming along nicely

Please install whirlybird on your shipping container. It will keep the dampness from accumulating inside and and protect all your valuables. A friend of mine use shipping containers to store his antique vehicles in and even without insulation it vented and prevent any dampness inside, he actually installed the pipe on the side of the container, then a 90°(at the top back end of the container)up and one of those whirly birds that you put on a smokestack or a chimney and it kept all that moisture from ruining his vehicles just a little wisdom from the past love your show. Keep on keeping on and be safe. He also used cedar sendit mothballs that kept the mice away. We live in Alberta so there’s no rats.Ha Ha .

Congratulations on the sale of the farmhouse. Living on the property will save you lots of time that was for traveling between and now can be used for building. Those containers are a great idea. My friend just purchased one and turned it into a small work shop. He figured it cost him about the same amount it would have to build a shop the same size with lumber and a slab to put it on. He leveled and had blocking done prior to delivery because he doesn’t have a skid steer or backhoe to lift it. Ashley looks lovely ( take that girl to the mall). Hope dad is coming back to give you a hand with the steel roof.👍👍🇨🇦
Maybe try to move the camper topper over a few feet to the right (as facing) and then you could put a few sheets of plywood and a tarp (to protect the wood some - maybe the old garage tarp behind there will work) and have a temp house for the tractor to keep it out of the elements to help prolong its life. Use 4x4 posts on each corner of it for stability and strength, attach a 2x4 on the underside of the plywood on each end to attch the 4x4's to. I didn't think about that before when you said you were getting a shipping container, didn't realize the spacing until it arrived. But, yeah, anyhow ... just a thought.

Put two of them across from each other and put a roof over and between them and you have a garage for you tractor, lawnmower and your vehicles if you want it that big. Put support post halfway and have it as big as you want. Have one side for storage and the other side for tools, building supplies or whatever you need it for. A lot of people are doing this type of garage/shop on youtube.
What i was saying about getting another container and turning the two into a garage/shop, this could be a future project for you. Ive seen a few finished ones and they are nice. Just get the pitch right for your area, if you get a lot of snow. Thanks for reading!

if you can place the container on cinder blocks and get some gravel for the front area . mainly due to the mud in the spring time .

For lifting one end of the container...hook a chain in each of the 2 holes at the corner...then lift the container in one shot !!!😊

Need to get some piglets next year. You could do a lean-to off the shop. You could even get a sow and boer piglets to raise and have your own piglets in the second year....
Hi. Love the jokes, congrats on the sale.Not giving you any advice, but, grab yourself a chain with hooks that fit the holes at the bottom of the container, remove the bucket on the tractor, adjust the chain on the loader and lift in the middle front than back, that way you can do both corners at the same time. Have a good one!

We did a bit you can see near the end of this video th-cam.com/video/aOWd84pcpQw/w-d-xo.html . The thing that caused it to take a bit longer was the logs the fella threw under it. They were a bugger to get out at the front. All good now though.
Why didn’t you level it before you dropped it off from the truck and use r ties?
They showed up, slid it off the truck, and we deal with it from there. All good.

had to watch the one before this first.. friday night... gees ... i look at the title .. ha ha sure... o crap they sold it.. Well.. you got electric and water and a TV and a Toilet.. so you're pretty good.. know what would be good if they had some big sucking machine some huge vacuum and it just sucks all the bugs out of the air. well I guess we'll see.. you'll be ok i am sure.. know what I saw.. guess you don't i didn't tell you.. In vietnam they use a lot of metal roofing but you can get it with like 5 inches of foam on the inside so the roof goes up insulated.. they don't use other insulation though they only need it for the heat.. but you can't buy it in America you would have to import it and no one does.. neat option though. Its still pretty light and it goes up easy. ok well gees you're in my prayers.. hope everything goes well.
