You need to let that boy run that tractor. My great grandfather put me on his old one hit John Deer tractor when I was nine took me a long time to run it by myself. But those are some of the best memories of my life. When he was too old to farm any more then I worked for my grandfather who had a citrice farm grove. No more John Deer but he had the biggest Gravely you could buy with duly tires he kept the bottom of the trees trimmed and I mowed. I was hired by a lot of his friends to mow their groves. Then again good times.

he needs to sit him by his dad. So he can pick it up now while he is young A start training him to drive them a little at a time, The rans is but as an extension of the driver you drive horses, with your voice they need to be spoken to so they know what they are doing is OK sending then & instructing them in the work never shout at them reas the voice tone Or pitch tells the stop lick stop to trigger a response steady walk OR walk-on tacks time to learn but keep to the same langwidge so they can learn it. when you have a minute try straining them without the rein, hold them so that can feel you. But uses only vice commands to steer them Britten Demonstrated it well on one accession your voice is their eyes & ears Well great Jod you all LOL. Les Thompson England XXX

@@wallacefarmandsawmill in glad my post found you & you found it interesting & helpful i visit Jim's Site often I'm retired from farming now & all the other things I did when I was born of Grid in 1952. On what we call a smallholding. I ploughed with a pair of small fell ponies powerfully built for pooling you could say they were the Grey "Ferguson" of the Horse's world. they pulled the appropriately sized Karts plans trailers for most of the work we did. Hell, they were our main transport when we went to Markit.
I have posted Jim & the Tuning hay on his power tack of Kart Check out the tong he is using in the kart, I spoke of earlier it is a sapling out of the woods. Finally, in closing, I do hope it helps you in your transformation to farming with working horses. Les Thompson England Eyes wide open people LOL

I didn’t know how much I needed to be using wedges when bucking logs until I decided to buy a set. They go every time I cut logs now, they’re fixing to get a bunch of use when I cut some beetle kill pines, they save the day vs getting a saw stuck or possibly bending a bar.

Hi , very nice logging video . Kubota makes a very good tractor . Here in western pa it has been very cold and snowing . My Kubota b2200 has been outside because my Buick century has been in the garage getting some engine work done to it . Yesterday evening I had it ready to start up . Well , it caught on fire and I had a difficult time putting the fire out . Fortunately the fire did not damage to the wiring of the engine . Found 3 injectors leaking gas . Any way where you are it is cold too . I wear a pair of carhart coveralls and a warm coat with a full face head covering hat to plow snow . I see Brit has a winter coat and hat on . A pair of her insulated coveralls would be good along with the other cloths ! God bless !

Kids.... I live in Wasilla Alaska which is north of Anchorage Ak., and its forty plus degrees right now at 12:30 AM... Yeah just past midnight but the wind is blowing about sixty miles an hour and snow melt is going to get crazy bad. Funny that I thought you might make a log arch for logging. I have made a good many logging arches that you tow behind a tractor or dozer. I also built a few many many years ago for horse logging.... I am guessing that was over fifty years ago. Yeah I am seventy five so time goes by way way too fast. If it were me, that tractor you use around the fields and gardens would get used in milling as well. I meant to say also that its warmer here in central Alaska than it is in Mississippi.... crazy. Twenty plus miles north of here its well below zero.... every acre has its own weather here... garden center of alaska is the catch phrase.
