Never was a VW guy, but seriously considering the Tiguan R-Line..it just has this subtle cool but still sporty looks..
can imagine it in the garage next to my mk1 TT easily
The white with the r line looks awesome on this car.
yeah, you can drive it anywhere, but not in germany. 2 Niegbours have this car in this color. looks kind silly to have three of them in front of your house..
I have to say that much of the appeal of these videos is Thomas's enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment in making these car reviews.
This is THE BEST review on TH-cam. Great job. I recently test drove the new 2017 All Wheel Drive KIA Sportage and I have to confess that it drives much nice than the current Tiguan (old design). The first thing I noticed about the KIA is how incredibly quiet the cabin is. Quieter than BMW or Mercedes. (I test drive everything) Once I got on the road, the KIA was very, very smooth but still responsive at the same time. I felt in total control of the car at any speed. One feature I really appreciated is the perforated seats that not only warm you but COOL you as well!! It gets hot in California and Arizona and a seat that can cool you IS A MUST!! The ONLY reason I didn't buy the car on the spot is because I wish it had a little more power. My 2015 GTI has spoiled me and is extremely fast. If having a fast car wasn't an issue, I would have bought the KIA in a second. I wrote to VW expressing my desires for certain features on the upcoming Tiguan when it's released in the US. The new KIA Sportage has really set the new standard of what to expect in a mid sized SUV for a great price. If the new Tiguan doesn't live up to my expectations, I'm buying the KIA. Thank you again for the detailed video. It was very informative.

How can you compare Tiguan R-Line to Q2? Should we not compare to RS Q2 if that ever comes out.
Personally prefer Q2. After having driven a few German cars you cant get me off Audi. It's a special extra they add.
Haven't driven a Porsche though. Can't afford it either. :)

I have a new Golf and always use the radar controlled cruise control all of the time from 30kph upwards so that I do not have to worry about keeping to the 80kph limit but actually end-up driving at 86kph (eh, Thomas?).

Thanks for another great review Thomas.....after seeing your other two reviews of the Tiguan, it made my test drive yesterday at VW dealership a lot better with previous info you had pointed out during filming. Just ordered the 2.0 tdi SEL 190ps with extras plus the electric swivel tow hitch. Top man thanks for your help :-)

Lovely to drive, easy to live with. Really like the auto hold when you stop, no more applying the parking brake on and off. Diesel is noisy, but the car feels good quality.

Bravo, this is the second review from you that I have watched and definitely you are going on my subscribed list...if I may suggest...we, the car lovers or petrol heads, would appreciate if you could dedicate more time to the car accelerations (0-100 and various MID accelerations), braking, cornering, etc....do not mean by this to change the concept of your videos (which is really great), but to add additional few minutes for driving capability of the cars would be great. Thanks...

Thank you for the thorough and professional review.
To open the tailgate with your foot, you just kick in and then out in one motion (as though kicking a soccer ball under the car, towards the front of the car), in any area, either side of the towbar location. i tend to kick about 25cm to either side of centre. approximately 1 second after your foot has been removed from under the car the indicators (blinkers) will flash once and then the tailgate will open. it isn't a quick process, but it is repeatable- when allowing the system time to process the command. :)

Regarding opening the hatch with foot sensor. So far it works if I do the following action. 1 - perform the kick; 2 - immediately move away/step back from the rear. The hatch opens everytime. I noticed it only open for you once you did a little movement/step backing the video.

I really must congratulate you on your reviews .... they are the best on youtube. I think VW (and other manufacturers) should be learning from you. I was in a dealership looking at this car and comparing it with the allspace version of the same vehicle. The salesman was no where near as comprehensive as you in his explanation of the car features etc. And he should have been as I am ready to buy one of these cars.

Thanks for the review, very informative and well presented. It answered a lot of questions i had in mind, especially the electric boot and as for the fake exhausts!, lol. Going for the TSI 180PS R-line for the wife, in white initially but got to say i'm liking the Indium grey after seeing it in the showroom, so its dilemma time before ordering.

Hello Thomas. I really enjoy the excellent production and quality of your videos and your thorough commentary. In the 2015 Tiguan in the middle of the dashboard there’s a recessed area (26cm x 17cm x 2cm deep) Do you know what this is for or what the purpose of it is? Thanks!!

In the future, to help other users. Most of all reviws is for 4Motion , I personally did not want to pay 2500 EUR (4Motion op.), and no reviews for 2WD with the snow surface. But this review one of the appealing, I watched at least 20 times :) Great work Thomas !
P.S. For other user: Standart LED is only about 10% better then Halogen.

Excellent review Thomas! Very interesting this R-line sport design, but for me, I would definitely go for the off road package tdi with 150 hp or 190 hp and of course the famous DSG. I prefer the off road package with Tiguan because, I want to play with it in off road, according to its capabilities.

only things i dislike about the new tiguan:
- acc not working until 210 kph like the ateca
- still using halogen-bulps e.g. for the fog lights
- no hybrid variant available

Tiguan is very nice and solid suv I have driven the older one among the best one .
I like the R line package. What you fail to mention though is that there are body color side lower panels that are not present on the other models. Along with the 20" wheels, more horsepower, different seat covers and I don't what else? You do a great job explaining, but sometimes it is hard to understand you as your volume lowers and you seem to mumble.
Nice video. The funny thing about the trunk is you have to put your foot at the left or right side. Otherwise it never works.

Hey Thomas what were the app you use to send gps location into the car. It's a vw special app or normal Google maps. By the way very very great review. And very clever cameraman show us very beautiful videos.

Great review dear Autogefuhl. However, after watching your BRILLIANT review of the Seat Ateca, I feel that the new VW Tiguan R-Line is full of 'chrome & bling' compared to the delightful Seat Ateca!
The other point is euro/pound wise, the Seat Ateca comes as a much better 'value for money package'.
Some people may disagree with my opinion - but it's my wallet in my pocket!

thanks! indeed list price wise the seat ateca leads price/performance. In Germany however sometimes huge Tiguan company deals with leasing rates could possibly be lower still
