  • Towering above the Alps, Mont Blanc is a spectacular natural beauty. But it also has a darker, lethal side that attracts thrill seekers, extreme skiers and obsessed climbers from all over the world. They throw themselves against the mountain’s steep slopes, treacherous glaciers and vertiginous cliffs in a bid to conquer this most formidable natural challenge. When they fail, the consequences can be deadly. The only thing standing between them and certain death is the helicopter rescue squad of the PGHM (Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne); an elite Alpine force trained for the world’s deadliest peaks. We ride along with the men and women who confront avalanches, blinding snowstorms, high winds, rockslides and sub-zero temperatures to rescue those who have fallen victim to the elements. Mountain Rescue delivers an experience that puts viewers on the top of the world and keeps them on the edge of their seats.

I used to live and Chamonix and I remember once I was climbing and a 15 year old kid fell off next to me without a helmet and smashed his head open on the rocks and Dragon has to come and collect him. They said after that if they’d been 5 minutes later he would’ve died in hospital. Huge respect to these people and the amazing work they do

Need more episodes. I’ve binged watched and have already seen them all. Pls post more. I have so much respect for the rescuers and entire crew. The helicopter pilots are incredible and how they work to have perfect communication as a team to navigate the rescues on the mountain. Just wow! This is really eye opening. People tend to take the rescue for granted not thinking how difficult and dangerous it is for the whole crew. They’re pros and make it look so simple and do their jobs with such efficiency. But this is not an easy job at all. How much training and mental strength and knowledge of the landscape/equipment, and what is the best and safest strategy, how to maneuver themselves in the face of danger, etc...all these things they must know in order to perform these rescues effectively. Blows my mind. They all risk their lives and some have died saving others. So sad. Hope they’re paid handsomely for putting themselves on the line in order to perform some really precarious rescues. This team is A+!

That pilot is the most amazing helicopter pilot I have ever seen and that includes the American Coast Guard and all the other helicopter rescues I watch regularly.

For those who lied the show: I recommend checking out "Search and Rescue: North Shore". Not on TH-cam, but freely available. It's a rescue team in Vancouver, Canada and they have some great footage of Helicopter rescues

Those crevasses... holy cow. I understand it is an amazing skiing spot but is also such a russian roulette. Why not skiing off piste somewhere else? As if dealing with avalanches wasn't enough.

There are safer hobbies. Tons of them. If you really can't find one I'm sure there are definitely safer places to ski and climb... but if it's worth the risk of a horrible death to each their own I suppose.
