I actually want to thank you for putting in the effort of making these playlists. I used to listen to the 2015 epic chillstep collection when my father was passing away from lung cancer. That mix brought me so much comfort and hope. And yeah, I know a lot of that credit goes to the artists themselves for making the music, but I am so grateful to you for putting that mix together, uploading it, and making that mix available to me and so many others. These past two years have been tough on everyone, and I know that there is hope because of people like you. So keep on keeping on. You're an absolute gift to this world. My eyes were opened this summer to this subgenre. I've been away from listening to EDM for like 5-8 years. I never knew this sound existed, and my friend took me to a Nurko show and my mind was BLOWN. I've been exclusively listening to melodic dubstep/future bass since then. Not the biggest fan of straight up dubstep, but when people like Slander, Seven Lions, Trivecta, etc insert a dubstep section/drop, my mind melts and it just hits SO much harder than just a full on dubstep song. Needless to say, I've gone to two festivals so far and third one will be coming this new years eve weekend. I get why people go to festivals now lol.
Its so crazy to me that like just 3 years ago I was bumping mumble rap and always talking like "yeah I'm not a big EDM fan I like some Calvin Harris though." Fast forward a little and I've now unlocked what seems like a bottomless well of incredible music that makes me feel so many emotions good and bad, so much more than any other type of music can. I'm into everything from deep dubstep, to liquid DnB now theres something for every single mood. Melodic dubstep though stays the favorite this subgenre of EDM is the single most amazing thing my ears have ever experienced. Since then... still, the most beautiful thing I ever experienced is so deep and melancholic and hopeful and sad and every emotion at the same time that I can not even describe it, fall for it forever.
This music might be not for everyone in this world, but this electronic music is the savior to us, this genre makes our hearts free. So many stories that we can share with this kind of music. Maybe this time we are not as good as all the artists in the mix do, but we believe someday we can spread it to more people and bring more colors too. Every time we are stuck making something we search for some references and arctic empire is one of the most reliable places that we can draw any inspiration on.
