    Often I have seen matajis cover their mouths even partially when they do the ulu dhwani. If you have heard Tamils do it - they call it Kulavai, and it sounds a bit frightening as compared to when Bengalis do it - the ladies will have a hand covering their mouths from the side or in front. Malayalis (Keralites) call it Kurava and it sounds very much like the ulu dhwani done in Bengal.
