That's not disrespect. Ghana as a new nation needed to limit the power of kings so it was natural that those rivalry would happen. Otumfuo is a very respectful person. But Napo's speech was disgusting.

Nobody hates Ashantis, it is because of how you people see yourselves above every tribe and individual in this country.
I have worked with many Ashantis and I must confess that they're the most tribalistic group I've met in my life, always talking down on others and feel like somebody is f00l and doesn't know anything apart from them.
That's why Napo could say what he said about our first president Nkrumah. He cannot disrespect Nkrumah and think of ruling the Ghana he fought for.
If insult hurts then Ashantis must stop insulting Mahama and disrespecting Kwame Nkrumah and Ghanaians because of this useles$ party called NPP.

Nkrumah’s youthful exuberance dictated his reckless decision to take ghana into a war for total liberation of Africa.
The 10million pounds Nkrumah single handedly gifted to Guinea,as part of his war path strategy for total liberation of Africa, could have been used to finance extension of the railway network, the colonial masters concentrated only in the gold mining and cocoa producing areas,to other parts of ghana.
Instead of Nkrumah, empowering cocoa farmers and workers by providing them with clean drinking water and electricity,Nkrumah top priority was to establish a national airline to fly government officials to Europe.
How many Ghanaians were traveling abroad in the sixties to justify making investments in ghana airways a top priority over the need to provide Ghanaians with clean drinking water and electricity.

maybe it was wrong for Nkrumah to deploy Ghana police to Congo. Aid Guinea what not! But Nkrumah is about the Black Man managing his own affairs. You use very archaic arguments even with the benefit of the present. If your comment was date 1960s it would have been very credible. Flying officials sounds like propaganda you are making here. Just seems really irrelevant to say things like this after 60years

@@Greatma9The resources ghana had at independence,if ghana was lucky to have a humble and meticulous leader like Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, ghana now would have been like Singapore.
Nkrumah neglected primary things to pursue secondary things.
On what basis do you think Nkrumah was right to establish ghana airways, just to fly government officials to Europe, over the need to provide cocoa farmers and workers, whose sweat provide ghana foreign exchange to enable the government to import the airplanes, with the same clean drinking water Nkrumah was enjoying with his Egyptian wife at the flagstaff house?

Don't come to this platform and lie if you don't know Ghana history. I have been in America for more than 40 years. I know Nkurumah very well, and I am grateful for what Nkurumah did for me and Ghana. Nkurumah never went to IMF. Akosombo project was financed direct by America and not IMF and when America decided not to finance the smelter, he turned to the Soviet Union.

Mr Hanson, don't you know that Kwame Nkrumah approached the I.M.F. in 1965, and he refused the terms? Why did he approached the I.M.F. in the first place? He went there because ghana was broke! Ghana had no choice but to go to the IMF in 1966.

    • @ABempah

Nkrumah’s youthful exuberance dictated his reckless decision to take resources of his fledgling newly independent country of six million people and more importantly without basic infrastructures such as roads and highways into a war for total liberation of Africa.
Through perseverance and great struggles in 1957 ghana became the first subsaharan Africa country.
This was a pilot program of the colonial masters to determine how the black man would manage his own affairs.
But unfortunately for ghana,Nkrumah a man who upon becoming the first president of newly independent ghana, could not find a wife in his own country but a white woman from Egypt, apparently failed to realize that.
Instead of Nkrumah, upon ghana’s independence, deploying a strategy of displaying prudent and convincing management of limited resources in combination with high level negotiations aimed to convince the colonial masters for total liberation of Africa,Nkrumah rather and arrogantly decided to use the limited resources of his new country to finance an unwarranted war against the well entrenched colonial masters, who still control ghana with English as official language, for total liberation of Africa.
In the end, apart from the tragic loss of lives in the difficult and convoluted war path option Nkrumah adopted,he also squandered resources he could use to provide infrastructures across his newly independent country to spur future economic growth in his war for total liberation of Africa.
Instead of Nkrumah, deploying the services of the army of his newly independent country of six million people and more importantly without basic infrastructures such as roads and highways to help spearhead a revolution in roads and highways construction across their newly independent country,Nkrumah rather deployed them in Congo to fight.
Ironically the soldiers Nkrumah deployed in Congo to fight returned to ghana to overthrow his dictatorial government.
Had Nkrumah had the vision of humility to adopt a peaceful option of negotiations for total liberation of Africa and engaged his soldiers at home to help execute national and patriotic duty of new roads and highways construction across their new country, they would have been so preoccupied by the task of building infrastructures in their new country and that there would be no motivation for them to remove Nkrumah from power.
And Nkrumah would have had the same political stability great man lee kuan yew of Singapore had to make his dream of a modern and civilized Singapore a reality.
Africa’s underlying problem is not neocolonialism but rather official corruption, which started from Nkrumah’s regime, bad governance and absence of technology to extract and add value to our natural resources in Africa.
If now fragmented africa in future becomes a single entity and the underlying problems, especially bad governance now inhibiting economic growth in individual Africa countries persist the continent would still be an empty giant.

@kwameboateng1283 when hate and jealousy drives you, you fail to realize your own folly... Why didn't you state first that Nkrumah never took ghana to IMF but rather approached the IMF? The pressures from the west knowing exactly what they've done to the Ghanaian economy by deliberately lowering the price for the only commodities that come from Ghana (cocoa and few gold at the time because Nkrumah wouldn't allow for reckless gold mines), decided to lure Nkrumah to be part of the IMF (so that he may take a full loan knowing the financial predicament of Nkrumah's government after setting off the various industries).
So when Nkrumah signed officially knowing that he had contracted funding package from the USA, he refused to take their IMF cash on principle (as it would cripple his economic if he even got the change to rule after 66). Nkrumah was convinced of his industrial set off, as the industries within some few months had began production boosting his confidence of economic recovery and more dividend on the way. This advised him to also take revenge by building silos to hoard cocoa beans and make them scarce in the global market, so that he could be called to the table for a reasonable pricing of raw materials (whilst Ghana too process some of the raw materials before it reaches the international market). What a genius! but unfortunately the whites knew the game ahead, and as silly as the coup mongers did not know with their myopic thinking, joined hand to overthrow him...
We Ghanaians should stop tribalism and nepotism, when one is blinded with any of these, he can neither see the uniqueness and wisdom bestowed on another person from a different ethnic group. I am sure you are of age, yet you could not reason that this man Nkrumah was so wise to go on that trajectory, except for you to hide those (coup monger and Busia government) who rather went for the IMF loans, squandered it (some even paying themselves salaries two years in advance - they will rot in hell) then blame it on foreigners... God is indeed going judge every human being in the day of judgement including you who supports lawlessness - you only see good things thru the thin eyes of nepotism. Learn and come again.
