  • Have you ever wanted to grow your own and start a kitchen garden but don’t know where to start? At Crocus, we’ve teamed up with @Charlesdowding1nodig, a no-dig and vegetable expert, to share his knowledge on how to get started.
For more than 30 years No Dig gardening pioneer Charles Dowding has advocated the benefits of grow-your-own where the focus is on feeding the soil rather than the plants. We are delighted to be partnering with Charles to bring his wealth of information and experience to you. Freshly-picked, home-grown fruit and vegetables will always taste better than those you buy in the shops - and being able to watch them grow and ripen, ready for harvest is also an incredibly rewarding experience.

Writing from the U.S.A. here, and wanting to thank you for the lesson as I attempt my very first no dig garden. I was at a loss until I stumbled across your video. ❤️

That was a great video- thank you. I’m going to try my first no dig veg patch and wondering what to do if cats have been using it as a litter tray!!!
Besides removing what I can see, is there anything else I need to do to prepare it?
Is there any big issue if we miss some of it?
    Thank you

Few things, use rose cuttings or spikey brambles across the beds (gorse is amazing for thsi) when not in use so throughout winter, or lay them around your plants when in situe. What I have also done that works well is got loads of those bamboo bbq skewers and inserted pointy end up in the soil , cats are filthy things and best to make them not find your spot appealing. I also use in the spring/summer the infrared water sprayer that also gets them good.
