    I recommend the plate loaded Elite FTS lat pulldown for the garage gym once you move into the house. It's very nice. I can do a lot of arm work too with the cables. Surprising what a great addition it is and you'd 100% use it a ton if you had one.

    I always stick a Vbar right under the notch of the collar on the bar itself. Isn’t this thing too forward since it’s on the sleeves? Also, isn’t it too tall compared to a regular vbar? Even with the cut out I like to pull it real close to me, sometimes to my chest as well for variation.

    Any comment on muscles exercised? I would expect the straight grip to exercise muscles further from the spine and the parallel grip to exercise muscles closer to the spine? Is it worth having both or is the difference minimal enough that the parallel grip is enough?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brandon, I’m in the process of purchasing a Lat Pulldown machine, would you say this piece of equipment is worth purchasing and will it work other parts of my back that a lat pulldown machine won’t get or should I just purchase a lat pulldown machine and not worry about purchasing this piece from rogue?

    • @CAHOP2401
      @CAHOP2401 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Though nothing really replicates cable work, doing landmine rows, barbell rows and seal rows should check off most of the major muscles worked doing row type exercises. Lat pull downs are harder to mimic but pull ups and pull overs really target your lats.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get a ton of back work in without one with a barbell and a pull up bar. Lay machines are great though, just tough for most people to get a good one that’s affordable and doesn’t have a big foot print requirement

    • @deseandudley281
      @deseandudley281 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Campbell Diamond what’s your opinion on budget friendly lat pull downs to buy? I’m debating between the Powertec and the XMark... I’m looking at Plate loaded ones as they save much money and I can use my current rubber plates.. which one out of the two do you recommend? Also do you still recommend this piece from rogue, as I was debating on adding it to my garage. Thanks for the quick reply...

    • @deseandudley281
      @deseandudley281 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CAHOP2401 thanks for the info. Greatly appreciate it.. I’m newer to all this.. so having a lat machine is worth having as it’s harder to do other exercise and work the lats?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deseandudley281 I guess budget varies on the individual, but I would probably look for a plate loaded one like you mention from one of the more "budget friendly" brands (rep, titan, etc). I'd also look 2nd hand if you can as you could get a nicer one cheaper.

  • @elis5929

    Do you notice any scuffs on your plates using this? I just picked one up along with the straight bar attachment but am more concerned with it messing up my Rogue Comp Bumpers and their metal inserts due to the metal on metal contact. Thorough review Brandon. I had that landmine attachment (standard grip) but sold after 1 use.
    Personally, I didn't like how much real-estate it takes up on the collar, and also how 'tall' this item is. Shorter individuals like myself don't get as much of a range of motion, (as opposed to a traditional V-Handle cable attachment behind the collar.)
    I definitely agree the quality can't be beat for $62 bucks or so - it's a tank. I just prefer the tried and true $15 V- Handle with a beater bar.

      Depends, if it's 3x3 and 5/8" or 1' hardware it could.

      @eflex247 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BasementBrandon Yes it's 3 x 3. By the way this is Eriek Nickson usapl American Record holder in the Deadlift.

      @@eflex247 Ah sorry can't help you then, I don't deal with people stronger than me.... :) But in all seriousness, measure the holes (I couldn't find the specs on Dick's site). If it's a 1" hole and 3x3 post, any major brand should fit (rogue monster, sorinex).

    This is the only piece of Rogue equipment that I regret buying. Because I prefer strict pendlay rows over landmine rows. The more upright position of the landmine row seems to build more traps with less of a focus on overall back and posterior chain. With the more upright position you have to use more weight to make it challenging, which creates more axial loading and fatigue.
    For stimulus to fatigue ratio, I think the pendlay row is a better bet for building the back and deadlift. But for those who like the attachment, let me know if you’d like to buy a second one. :)

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do like pendlay rows as well, but given my height find they work the best off slightly elevated straps!

    • @KevinKaneCanada
      @KevinKaneCanada 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BasementBrandon Oh boo hoo, poor Brandon is so tall, us shorties feel so bad for you. ;-) I hear you man, makes sense. I decided to try the landmines yesterday after not having done them for months. I'm going to do them for a while instead of the rows because: 1) I think the pronated grip will help alleviate some elbow tendonitis I sometimes feel when I do a lot of pendlays. 2) I'm curious to see what differences I feel between the movements. It seems to me that landmine rows are more fatiguing on the lower back but that may be just the stance I took or perhaps because I simply haven't done the movement in a long time. Cheers Brandon!

    Rogue is tanking the shit of fitness accessories industry, they will start design their own coffee mugs and convince Crossfiters that it will work out their grip strength while taking sips.
