@@soup6483 nope, he wouldn’t actually be able to bring her back. Isolde was turned into a wrath because he failed the first time and she split her soul so that she wouldn’t have to remain one and she just wanted to be laid to rest hence why she gave the signal for Ashkan to fire his shot that dropped the music box and shattered Isolde again.
I like the dichotomy between Gwen’s usual childlike happy bubbly curiosity and the dark rebellious feel that the song gives her mission. Gives the whole situation a very child-soldier vibe
A lot of fanart shows her in a more creepy/evil way too, I wish they made an official skin that harnessed this side of her

On the one hand it suits her characterisation to all but her past.
If you aren’t of the Shadow Isles, a remnant of Viego’s legacy then she has nothing but the boundless spirit of life, but if you remind her of Viego’s legacy then I wish she could have had a colder side that comes out more often.
you guys should learn her backstory before making those comments, she perfectly matches her story.

As gorgeous Rena's voice is, and as smart and powerful the lyrics are... I think what leaves me the most in awe is how you can hear the sound of scissors in the instrumental, during the chorus and the end. It's such a simple genius detail, putting Gwen's energy in the instruments itself.

I love how this song talks about how he wasn't always this way. And as another comment already said, she calls him "The King" or "The Ruined King" because he is no longer Viego.
Edit: Whenever someone's talks about Virgo it's always how he is and nor how he was. He has one of my favorite stories because of his downfall, heartbreak, and corruption. It really is a sad story and at the end of the day, Viego is just a broken man who doesn't know how to cope.

viego and isolde... a tale that never should have been told, a love that never should have existed, a death that wasnt supposed to happen and an obsesion that would never exists
I may not have like everything done during the Ruination story but I do absolutely love these characters. Seeing a man with so much power and love tear himself and the world around him apart because no matter how much power you have you cannot stop death. It's compelling and relatable. Some would really let the world burn and become monsters to take back their loved ones.

I love how Gwen only mentions him as the "King" to dehumanize him because Viego and Isolde are gone, who they once were.
Presently, this is not Viego anymore. This is just the Ruined King, fueled by obsession and as well as abuse.
Now if Isolde popped in for a verse, I would think she mention him as Viego as the past leaking forward and dissipating. 🥰

I love the idea that Viego was almost Gwens dad with Isolde being her mother, but Viego is gone and now only the ruined king remains, and that’s the one she makes her mission to stop

This literally blew me away. Whenever I though it's reached its peak it exceeded even further beyond. I love the dichotomy of Gwen and Viego and their views on Isolde's death, it brings so much life to the song!

I really like what they did with Gwen, especially when you compare her to certain other female champions *cough* Seraphine *cough*
But even if we ignore.... _her_ someone like Lux also has certain lines that basically say "Just be happy and ignore your worries". That's not how you deal with sadness or pain. Which is exactly what Gwen says when she asks Lux "[...] you know pain too. Why deny it?".
Gwen is about dealing with grief in a healthy manner. She was given the gift of life by Isolde and she chooses to use that gift for good purposes. So that Isolde's death will not have been in vain. This means she has to stop the one person, who _can't_ deal with her death. The Ruined King.
Heck, if I ever start writing fan fics this song might be an inspiration.
Gwen is immune to everything but an amazing song from you! Rena's voice is incredible and the lyrics/instrumentals and visual effects are top notch.

The direct opposition with Hail the King for Viego is a nice touch.
Technically not she herself is immune, instead lorewise the hallowed mist protects her which is the same thing viego gets his power from but the hallowed mist is a "thing" (how would you describe it?) That gwen gets from trust, believe, love and all that, viego on the other hand is greed, hatred, negativity. Senna and akshan also for example also have the hallowed mist. Its because they have part of isoldes soul in their own.
@@scareprankcreepypasta6716 Akshan does not have Hallowed Mist, nor does he have a soul fragment inside him. Senna is implied to be able to use Hallowed Mist, but she's primarily shown using Black Mist.

@@scareprankcreepypasta6716 When and where was that confirmed? I know the Absolver is a Relicstone weapon, and Relicstone comes from the Blessed Isles, but as far as I can till it just uses Sentinel Light as opposed to Hallowed Mist.
@@goldlight1322 I know that because it actually has the same color as some of gwens abilities. As much you can identify the void with purple, you can do the same with the hallowed mist.

I usually don't like songs like this, but this hits different I can't quite tell why
Does anyone else see Gwen as the daughter that viego and, his wife could have had. With this song telling how she accepted losing her mother and, father very young. One by death, the other by madness. With this song expressing how she wanted the family that was taken from her, but accepts that viego, her father in a sense, has been in grief/madness/denial for so long that there is no way to bring him back. With the 2nd half kinda telling her father, her mission, and in a sense begging him to stop. There are so many layers to this song. From child soldier vs tyrant, daughter vs father, acceptance vs denial. So much would love to talk to others with on this song.

The openings on these songs are always at the level of epic. Lyrics, tone, music, everything. Animation effects are awesome. Duet there towards the middle/middle end was good. If I had one little gripe it’s that I wish the endings ended on the same high that the openings started out on instead of it being a lyrical repetition, but really solid all the way around! ^-^

@@craftworded True but Gwen's verses are speaking from the daughter's perspective, not Isolde's. It's basically a daughter trying to get her father to let go of all his past resentments and allow his spirit and her mum's spirit to finally be at peace.
This song HURTS after you read the book. Viego was never fit to be king. He was a man set up to fail from the day he was born, and like many in his situation, he latched obsessively onto the one person who showed him any affection, and when she died, he had a nervous break. It really is honestly just painful.
