I haven't seen this comment, so I'll mention that this movie was heavily inspired by the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby "Road to...." films, featuring comedic, self-interested anti-heroes traveling to different global locations. I'm old as shit and remember this movie having non-virtuous swindler protagonists being a huge deal at the time in contrast to Disney's standard thoroughfare, it was actually supposed to be PG-13 with Chel even MORE scantily clad and having more sexy scenes but they didn't want to exclude kids sp it went through a bunch of changes in direction and rewrites --so I could see why it felt a bit sloppy with the plot ultimately, but one of my favorite movies.
