in my opinion, NHL 14 is the greatest NHL video game ever, along with NHL 2K8, which also the greatest NHL video game ever, at least in my opinion. NHL 14 and NHL 2k8, one of the most acclaimed games of all time.
NHL 2K8 goalie animation is still top tier.
I think that ones that were on the pc starting from 1998,1999,2000,2001 & 2002 were my favorite versions
14 for me,but enjoyed 13 and 17. Still playing 14,too bad that there is no more chance to get updated roster.
I have fond memories of NHL19 cause when I tore my ACL it was my only way to play hockey, and as I didn’t buy 20 I played the shit out of it during covid as well.
How well did you bounce back from that injury? It's a brutal one.
NHL 94 to 98 and 14 are my alltime favourites in EA SPORTS NHL series.
I had the most fun in 13 and 17, they might not be the best but they’re the mist important for me personally.
NHL 98 still has far better fun factor than NHL 17 to 24.

NHL 04 would have been my choice as well. Back in the day when it was actually fun playing with a team from the sm-liiga, elitserien or DHL. Also the first year that other leagues got introduced in the game 👍🏻

Hands down NHL 2004 was the best hockey game and sports game ever made. Adrenalin filled online battles that I have never been able to find anywhere else.
I made this comment before seeing the result, glad to see agreement. Although other modes are good the best and what made it great for me was online play.
NHL 13 is underrated. I love it and even Goalie be a Pro is really fun.

Nhl 2000 on pc was the first game I ever bought, and it was so dope! The soundtrack, being able to scan your face into create a player was sensory overload for 12 year old me.

I agree with the final choice, but I never understood the love for NHL 2006. The goalies flopped like fish out of water which made it so easy to rack up goals against the AI even on the hardest difficulty. I will agree that 94 will great at the time, as my personal first venture into video game hockey; it was still lacking a lot of depth.
I have a ps2 hooked up mate. Got it for a nostiligia trip and was getting into nfl at the time. So got nfl 2k4 which is fantastic.

22 had AMAZING GAMEPLAY until they watered it down to make it easier for the casuals. The passing actually had weight and every movement had weight. Every body check wasnt a massive hit, you could skate into a good position and nudge your opponent off the puck. They even had goalie interference for like the first 2 weeks. The fanbase is as bad as EA. NHL 23 was unplayable to me. Cross crease 1 timer EVERYTIME. 2K needs to start making NHL games again. There could be so much depth.
For me in Terms of Sheer Hours Played, My Top 3 NHL Games Are: 1. NHL14 2. NHL94 3. NHL07 (OG Xbox) By the way on 14 You could Customize Ur Soundtracks which Trumps All others in that regard. Peace Y'all

this is based on your age. us people born in the 80s whove been playing hockey games since blades of steel up to nhl 23 would not, ever, never put nhl 04 over NHL 93, 94, 95 or 96 from the sega genesis. I appreciate the look back from your perspective for sure, but the bias is your age.

Technically, NHL Hockey (also known as NHL '92) was the first EA Hockey game, not NHLPA 93. Granted it was in 93 that the division would be first named EA SPORTS, but it's EA nonetheless. Also noteworthy, it wasn't an actual NHL game since the NHL pulled it's licensing. So no team names, only player names. Hence the name "NHLPA". As for the bracket winners themselves... I mean, yeah. I could see why some of these choices were made. I personally would've shown more love towards the end of the 360/PS3 era and NHL 14-15-Legacy would've ended as winners. But that's my opinion. ;)

NHL 94, 04, and 14 are the highlights for me. Hopefully NHL 24 can keep it going...I like what I've seen so far.
Also NHL 06 is trash...goalies let in too many goals because they do the two pad stack on 90% of the shots you take.

For me it’s 2002 the cards and stuff was a fun concept, great soundtrack and fun gameplay on pc, I also really enjoyed 15 when the new skill stick came into play also, plus that’s the one I played and had a lot of hours in lol but that’s just me.

PS3 days was the last time I remember not being able to put the game down...like that for most games...imo it was the last great console, ps4-5 just duds...minus one caveat, the NBC presentation from 15-19 is unmatched from any other EA hockey game. Presentation just so terrible since then which is a huge turn off. The best tho for me is gonna be NHL 95. Can't tell you how many hours I played that game as a teenager. Great video, i love hockey, so sad we havent gotten a decent game in years now. I also loved 13 but it did have a huge draft bug that corrupted your gm file...i was so miffed i skipped 14, ooops haha

I enjoyed putting those videos together, but it was an instance of the juice not being worth the squeeze.
That said, I do plan on making videos about older games this year
