My niece loves to watch hair-play asmr videos and not too long ago I remember she came into the room begging her mom to let her relax and straighten her hair so she could have "pretty hair" like the models/props had in the videos and it made my sister so sad to hear that her daughter thought her natural hair wasn't good enough. I've had her watch all of your natural hair videos and she's finally getting excited about embracing her natural hair and being comfortable with who she is. Never underestimate how something as seemingly small as a video about styling natural can make a huge difference for young people. Small things go a long way.

As a mixed Indian and Black girl, I’ve struggled with my multiple hair textures all my life. Waves, loose curls, and coils all in the same head. I used to straighten it frequently just so it was more manageable. Since realizing how much damage I actually caused to my hair, I’ve started to embrace my natural curls. It can tell you the sounds are so soothing and accurate which just makes it more satisfying. I appreciate you for including us. I also appreciate how gentle you are. I know she’s a mannequin and can’t feel, but I know you’re being gentle. Most or moms would be rough and call us tender headed and smack us with the comb. 😂 Is it weird that I enjoyed your breathing as well? Idk why.
Awww, thank you for sharing. I hope that you have made peace with your hair. I keep my hair short becasue I know how much work it takes to manage my hair when it's longer, I can only imagine how tough it would be to try to manage long hair with multiple textures!
As a black girl, I say you did an amazing job. There are only so many white males that they can do this style and SLAY it. I would actually pay you to do my hair. Love that you include our hair types. Thank you
This is the most relaxed I’ve ever felt watching ASMR, and that’s because your intentionality makes me feel seen, safe and cared for. Thank you so much!!
I cant fathom why there are dislikes on this video? Diversity inclusive, WITH his links advocating black owned products, and his mention that he did his homework and linked the HISTORY behind it? omg
There aren't a lot of dislikes. There are almost 4,000 likes and 36 or so dislikes. That ratio seems to be normal for his videos. I'm not sure why anyone dislikes it at all...but eventually someone dislikes every youtube video that I've ever seen.... maybe just because they can? Or because I think it's common for people to accidentally press the dislike button.
How cool is this! Love it! FYI, the golden rule when detangling black hair, keep a water bottle near at all times. As the hair dries, it is hard to comb through. The comb gets "caught" in those tangles. So, when starting a section of hair, spritz enough moisture to make the comb-through/detangling easier. You can even add product to the water (ex. an essential oil or a stay in product). Good job! If you ever adopt a little black princess, her hair is going to be on point! :-) Appreciate ya!
No, you are good :) Sorry, I meant that I had one on my setup but I didn't actually use it this time. I'll try to use it next time to make the detangle easier.
@@certifiedmood Ohhhh, ok. I hate how context gets lost in these internet streets. Lol. Cool! Again, thank you so much for your including us...it really does salve some historic wounds. HUGS!

I keep coming back to this. It's something of a comfort video now, I think. Seeing you be so genuine about doing it and getting it right (I smiled so wide watching you section the hair, you don't even understand), seeing the care and effort you put in. It warms my heart. I keep tearing up whenever I think about how nice it is to feel included so sincerely. Thank you for this video, and for always being so inclusive. 💓
After watching this, I literally went and ordered an Afro doll head from Amazon to practice styling my own hair on. It’s got 3C hair like mine but they have all the textures. Thanks for the ideal, I have no clues why I never thought of doing that before. 💁🏽♀️
I've been watching ASMR for over 8 years and as a mixed girl, I find myself always searching for the curly models or mannequins so I can relate to it more. Thank you for including us and showing us some love! From reading at these comments, I know I'm not the only one that feel the same way!
It reminds me of Sunday nights where my mom would do my hair for the week and she took time to make sure my hair was clean, moisturized, de tangled and styled...it’s nostalgic and tingly all at once. I’m officially a new subscriber! Thank you for this content!!!
when he put the loops and lip gloss at the end 🥺💕 this man is so caring from beginning to end! Also, I have naturally thick and straight hair, so I never feel "texture" in the sounds of my own hair (if I can put it that way), so experiencing the textured sounds of kinky hair really is a unique experience to people with straight hair, considering almost every asmr hair role play is made with straight hair. So that's a whoooole new world of tingles for me and I love it! But most of all, it's so GOOD to see more diversity and inclusion in the ASMR community, and warms my heart to see it, especially seeing the comment section here, omg, it's so heartwarming to see people feeling happier and more seen, and being so happy and excited, rather than of having to always deal with normalised alienation instead of inclusion... truly makes my day💕
So relaxing! And refreshing to see black hair represented! Growing up, I always would get negative looks and comments on my hair and so I assumed no one really wanted to “play” in my hair but after you videos, it’s like I feel “worthy” and feminine again. Thank you.

Thanks John - your dedication and attention to detail are impeccable and it shows in every video! Thanks for making inclusivity a priority - it literally warms my heart to see it.

Really, really love to see this the inclusion is well appreciated x
As someone who is not a POC I truly enjoy the fact that you are making inclusive videos. 1) because I'm tired of seeing the same hair videos over and over to the point I don't get tingles anymore. 2) As and American watching American asmr artists it's frustrating seeing all of us not represented in most channels when we are such a unique country with such a beautiful mix of people and ideas...and 3) it feels good knowing that you're bringing joy and representation to someone out there different than me that just wants to be noticed, heard and appreciated. You have a beautiful soul. Ty. *some of these comments had me in tears as I read them.

I def smiled wide at that!
When he said that it was a little frustrating I was thinking: Yes and most black girls/women deal with it everyday😂
I love the fact that this asmr channel is so diverse, anyways goodnight y’all 😂

You're so pretty.
What the fuck.

Thank you
Army 😫
@@aproblematicdesire hi
Army is everywhere and I love it!,
When he said “I’m gonna make these tight but try not to make them too tight” UGGHH , the relatability!!
Yet another amazing video!
can we appreciate the fact that he gave our good sis hoops ? it's important details like that one that makes it feel even more special 💕
Hoops AND gloss sis I was like 👀okayyyy
This is the most relaxed I’ve ever felt watching ASMR, and that’s because your intentionality makes me feel seen, safe and cared for. Thank you so much!!
I cant fathom why there are dislikes on this video? Diversity inclusive, WITH his links advocating black owned products, and his mention that he did his homework and linked the HISTORY behind it? omg
It's just people mad they cant style hair this well.
Yeah those people are just haters lol
It’s bots
i think it may be bots, i don’t see how anyone can dislike this 🤍
There aren't a lot of dislikes.
Please don’t ever change, your channel makes me feel welcomed and relaxed !
He listed the links to black owned businesses and the history of the style?! A++. And the video is relaxing!! 🥱🥱 Night!
Girl I'm about to pass out rn lol
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I LOVE IT HERE! IM NEVER LEAVING. I love an inclusive community that just enjoys and celebrates each other Hearts!
Oh, thank you! I had a water bottle on my setup. Now I know that it could make the job easier next time if I just use it. I appreciate the tips 😊😊😊
@@certifiedmood My bad, looks like you got it under control. :-)
HUGS!
Yes, I second that Tip! Moisture is always KEY for our hair! Im so in love with this Channel! And Very Impressed!
Crazy how an ASMRist can take the time to learn how to care and style kinkier hair textures, but actual hairstylists can’t
I think he took the opportunity to grow as a human mist stylist are just trying to grow their pockets
I’m so happy for all the POC who feel joy from this vid.
Honestly enjoying the comments more than anything it's like actually bringing me to tears and I'm not even a black woman 😂 everyone is so happy here
Not all poc are black, lol
@@Okai3427 not only black people have this hair texture.
I'm glad there is an ASMR artist that is willing to do Black women hair, in fact you do it way better than some hairstylist. You just earned a new subscriber. Keep up the good work!
Can we all just agree the dislikes are just people jealous they cant do hair styles this epic!
Those are bots.

I know he gained some extra muscles after making this 😂
Girl ya know... our hair is not for the faint of heart.. lmao
😆😆😆😆 I'm exhausted just watching. I know the feeling. 😆😆😆😆

After watching this, I literally went and ordered an Afro doll head from Amazon to practice styling my own hair on. It’s got 3C hair like mine but they have all the textures. Thanks for the ideal, I have no clues why I never thought of doing that before. 💁🏽♀️
Did he say this was his 1st time🤭....I have beautiful thick 4c/4b hair and still can't do bantu knots. He did a helluva job. I love this man.
doing my own hair is a mess, the only thing i can do to it is gel it down, and that even has bumps, do a wash and go, and twist it
@@enhababes i feel that. i can do everyone's hair but my own😭
This comment section makes me *so* happy. Everyone should been included in everything; especially *dope hair videos* and *tingles* ❤️
Thank you.
I just came to like the video and add my comments, I'll be back later at bedtime. Can't wait 👏🏾😍 thank you John, greetings from 🇵🇦

Thanks John - your dedication and attention to detail are impeccable and it shows in every video! Thanks for making inclusivity a priority - it literally warms my heart to see it.
I disliked it unintentionally cause I fell sleep with my phone in my bed. I realized that I disliked it when I came back to watch it again and I was like wth, of course I liked it😳😳

Even the unintentional heavy breathing is relaxing ☺️
Most ASMR-ists on TH-cam play in Caucasian hair but this.. this right here is GOLD. Thank you for this amazing content. 💓
I can really see how serious you were with this hairstyle by how hard you were breathing 😂
Okaaay?! That parting had him focused! 😂😂 But somehow his breathing added to my tingles. Especially during the parting section. I loved it. 🖤
Yes! It added to the authenticity for me. That's what you hear when you're sitting n the chair -- or on the floor, and someone is meticulously parting your hair. ☺😍
I love, love, love this. As an aunt to a young mix and beautiful baby, who's daddy makes her hate her hair and is always downing her, I am going to send this to my sister. I am so excited to see this video and as a curly head I am so in awe to see how gentle you worked on a mannequin. Thank you sir this is BEAUTIFUL!
I never comment but my god this is so good ! From the switching of the combs , the correct hair products , even moisturizing the parts as your placing them into the ponytail. Thank you !
I like how you included the Black owned and non Black owned products in the description. It really Blew my Mind, like TF??? Great post Guy!
As a black woman it makes my heart smile to feel included and taken care of. Your channel is amazing and extremely relaxing 😌 Thank you for all that you do 👏🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
Your breathing, alone, is sooo calming. Makes me feel like I have someone sleeping next to me.
This is how you do it!!! Oh my gosh, it’s amazing seeing how you took time to research our hairstyles, the type of products and the tentativeness you have when handling Afro hair. Also the thought to using your platform to educate people on the history of black hairstyles as well as promoting black owned beauty brands. Really, really love to see this the inclusion is well appreciated x
You don’t even understand how happy this made me feel as a black woman 🥰thank you so much 🥰
As someone who is not a POC I truly enjoy the fact that you are making inclusive videos. Ty.

I'll bring potato salad! 😂😊
The hairstyle looks so dope!
And I'm really impressed that you (not being a stylist, not having this hair texture that you spent years figuring out how to work with) made it look cute AND neat!! Good job! You did that
You are in a league of your own! This is wonderful I could cry seeing all the lovely people so happy to see their hair type💖 It's so great to see different hair types and styles. I love that you've used and supported black owned brands in this video too and even provided educational links for people to find out about the history of black hair. The way you're so gentle with the combining and handling the hair I'm getting tingles in my scalp 🤤

This diversity and inclusivity has made my asmr experience on this channel SO enjoyable, and it's just such an added bonus that you uplift Black businesses and other Black asmrtists too, thank you!!
as a hispanic girl it feels amazing to see all these women with different hair types feel included since the usual props that people use have pin straight hair.
As a black woman that watches this channel and new to asmr, I love this
So braids and twists next? Also a twist out could be cool. So happy to find an asmrist who is committed to actually being diverse and learning respectfully about our culture 💖

Did you watch his latest video with his wife? I love when he says something to the effect of, “Jen do you hear this shit, it says we can eat it” in reference to the massage oil. 😂

oh my gosh when i was a kid I got teased for having my hair like that. happy to see it shown in a positive light!!!
A lot of people comb from the roots out you actually start at the ends I rarely see that your amazing !
I always comb my hair "from tip to root" i learned it from my grandma when i was a lil girl😊💕
Natural women with 4c hair will break off if we do that
@@destinychristaunique1695 i have 4C hair. i was always taught, by family members and licensed stylists, to start from ends and work your way to the roots.
This has to be one of the most adorable videos I've ever seen. 😁A lot of ppl have brought up issues concerning racce and hair texture. But What's interesting about this video is seeing a man be so absolutely perfectionist and kind and gentle with this womans hair as if it's his own daughter or stepdaughter going to an event. Lol. I know so many mothers who wouldn't dare evn be this gentle or graceful. And the little pat he gives each bun is so adorable.😁 It's nice to see.
I'm not even black and I still feel weirdly prouf of inclusive you are. It's like it should have always been. Embracing our differences and our similarities, embracing BEAUTY because we are all beautiful humans. Leaving no one out. I wish that one day we can all really be equal in every single way.
These comments are so wholesome-idk if this is out of pocket but I love the way natural Black hair looks it’s so gorgeous and those Bantu knots look beautiful 🥺
