Man, he hit it dead on. For the longest time, I felt used (still do). And felt like no one cared about me. All they wanted was to get me to do things for them and then they would leave me. I'm the "nice guy" except for everyone, not just girls. And even though i've tried to stop helping because of resentment (did for a while), I always default to helping. I love helping. I hate seeing people struggle and if there's a way I can help, I always do. I never seek anything in return, but deep down, it hurts that others don't think the same way. People can see me struggle... watch me fall trying to do everything myself... and they'll just stand aside and watch or turn a cold shoulder.
That's the curse of being a 2. So far, i've finished last in everything. Girls use me, people use me, friends use me, until i finally decided to just care for myself...Since then, i've paid more attention to myself. I've stopped helping as much and it feels good... but... now i'm all alone. No one reaches out to me. No one invites me out. I'm all alone. And i'm learning to be okay with it. I help strangers. I help my family. But it's pretty much a lonely world.
I just wish people liked me for me. And not for what I can do for them. :/
I wish someone told me, let ME help YOU. for once... That'd be nice.

"Although it often feels very specific, much of the personality profiles associated with different MBTI and Enneagram types are quite general [. . .] In the “key motives” for the Enneagram types, we again find statements that would describe many people, like “want to be right, to strive higher and improve everything, to be consistent with their ideals, to justify themselves, to be beyond criticism so as not to be condemned by anyone” (Type 1) and “want to have security, to feel supported by others, to have certitude and reassurance, to test the attitudes of others toward them, to fight against anxiety and insecurity” (Type 6). Similarly, “Ones” can be “moody and irrational” and “Sixes” become “competitive and arrogant” under stressful conditions, tendencies that most people would have under stress."
      www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/people-are-strange/201909/when-personality-test-results-are-wrong-feel-so-right
Just saying, the types aren't real, you might find yourself burdened less if you just give up this typology nonsense, leaving it behind has helped a lot of people. . .

I would have to say that what he is describing is a 1w2... my mom is a one, and she REALLY related to this (and she is definitely not a two). I am a two, and found some of his examples relatable... but not a lot and I found especially the motivations to be 1 like. We are more motivated to help people for relationship and love, not to just get things done. I appreciate his knowledge of the enneagram in general and look forward to the other sermons.

@kaleigh I definitely agree he is talking about a 1/2 mix... Which I definitely am not 1 at all. I'm only 15 min into his talk and was so confused about he would be describing a 2, because like you mentioned, my helping is driven more by love and care for the person and relationship, not by the task itself. I'm not as concerned with parking, I'm concerned with the person I see in the parking lot that is hurting and needs to be shown love

Kaleigh Lawrence I’m a 1w2 and yes, I definitely relate to this. I agree that he is blending type 1 and 2. The 2 helps because they are afraid that if they don’t, the person will turn their back on them. It’s about the person, not the work. Martha was working so hard because she loved Jesus and wanted to give him the best, so that Jesus will love her. It’s not about making the perfect dinner (that’s type 1), it’s about providing food for the person she loves, because she loves him and she needs him to love her back. I though I was a 2 for a while so I really understand this subtle difference of motivation

God teaches us through the Bible, which is the only tool we need. Proverbs 30:6 warns us, "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."
The enneagram is strongly associated with New Age philosophy and has occultic origins. The man credited with introducing the enneagram to the West is George Gurdjieff. Gurdjieff was a mystic, philosopher, and spiritual teacher immersed in occultic practices such as astrology, mental telepathy, spiritism, fortune telling, and posession. One of his followers Oscar Ichazo, along with Claudio Naranjo (a psychiatrist) began relating the enneagram with personality types in the 1960s. In a 2010 interview, Caudio Naranjo admitted that he lied about the origins of the enneagram because he wanted his idea to become famous and widely accepted. Naranjo admitted the enneagram is not an ancient tool of Babylonian origin. He confessed he arrived at the nine personality types through "automatic writing," which is the process of producing written words while in a trance state. The words arose from a supernatural source. The bible warns us not to channel spirits (Leviticus 19:31). The enneagram is a demonic New Age teaching that is infiltrating the church. Please do your research, and remember the devil is the master of deception. Don't be led astray. 🙏🏼

Adjacent types show small intercorrelations (1 shows a +0.14 intercorrelation to 2 and -0.12 to 9 for example).115 To make things worse, the opposite types are not correlated negatively, but positively: for example, type 1 and 6 show correlations of +0.44 (French) and +0.47 (Dutch). In their comparison to a 5FM test,116 they fail to notice that adjacent styles
don’t show a continuous dimension. For example, if style 1 scores high on conscientiousness, the adjacent styles should somehow show at least medium correlations too. But this is not the case: for example, style 1 shows a correlation with conscientiousness of +0.58, whereas adjacent style 9 has a correlation of -0.07 and adjacent style 2 of 0.00. Except for

‘Typologies serve two basic functions: they codify and they allow prediction. They are appealing because they offer simplistic pigeonholing and an assumed peek into the unknown. Hence they are a form of divination and fortune telling. They can be as entertaining as any parlor game, but the real tragedy of such schemes is that life-and-death advice is being given to people. A “Temperament Counselor” who advises on a lifetime career, marriage or spiritual development is likely to influence people’s lives for good or ill. Moreover, the victims often believe that they are really gaining knowledge about others and often rely upon the scheme to explain and excuse questionable behavior in others and themselves, instead of growing and changing by assuming responsibility.
Unfortunately, from the scientific point of view, nothing is explained if the state we have attributed to the person from his behaviour, is then invoked as the cause of the behaviour from which it was inferred. Circular explanations like this give the appearance of a genuine explanation that offers genuine knowledge. But it is only illusory.’
From the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences. Not a Christian book, no. But people with a lot more credentials than Matt Brown has to speak about these so-called "tools". Sorry to be salty but this series is a waste of space.

Fun fact, the father of modern typology himself Carl Jung said "the opinion has gotten about that my method…consists in fitting [people] into this system and giving them corresponding ‘advice.’ This regrettable misunderstanding completely ignores the fact that this kind of classification is nothing but a childish parlor game." So not only was Jung schizophrenic or demonically oppressed, but people aren't even using his wackadoo theories right anyway.
