    I have tasted Senegalese, Ivoirienne, Burkinabe, Togolese, Nigerian and Ghanaian jollofs. I must say each country has adapted and added somethings to the original recipe to make it their own. Without doubt, Ghana's jollof tops the charts, honest. Maybe the shito is the extra edge, who knows? Did you get chance to try the Ghana Awaakye and tuo zaafi too? I bet you, you would have bitten your tongue abi. They are finger licking good la.
    Adeola, I noticed you ate every grain of the jollof rice. We know you know Ghana's jollof is the best but want to pull for your home country Nigeria. We understand, otherwise those Oga will never allow you back into the country Nigeria.

    • @theafricannomad4203
      @theafricannomad4203 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is only one Jollof and it's from SeneGambia, all the others are poor imitations. I am Ivorian and I am willing to admit it.
      The original dish name is "Tieb Bou Dien" ( a rice dish cooked with fish) from the Wollof people ( from Senegal and Gambia). Find an authentic Senegalese or Gambian restaurant and you will find out what I am taking about. Peace, my brother!

    • @ebottah
      @ebottah 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@theafricannomad4203 Peace Yaw, I don't question the origin of Jollof. Everybody knows it originated from Senegambia. That is even in the name...jollof which is a corruption of the name Wollof. And we do thank them for bringing to the world that amazing cuisine. However, once it was here, others added their own local inputs to meet their local tastes.
      In Côte d’Ivoire I fell in love with Acheke (Attiéké) and avocado plus fish. It went along very well with the beer you called 33. Acheke is gradually making it's way into Ghana and who knows what they may add to it to localize it. Bottom line, we have great cuisines along West Africa. I love them. I also love the Ivorian sweet coffee and long bread plus condensed milk. So brother Yao (Yaw) let's celebrate our traditions. We are great people altogether, from Dakar to Lagos. One Ecowas.

    • @ebottah
      @ebottah 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @On est tous ivoirien Yes, my brother we are all Ivoiriens as well as Ghanaians. Remember, Ivoirien or Ghanaian, these are recent names or terminologies in our history. We have been Akans and other tribes many centuries before the white man came to Africa. My grandmother's father was Ivoirien who immigrated to Ghana - the Gold Coast (Côte d'Or) as a goldsmith. To be precise he was an Ébrié from the Grand Bassam area. I had the honour to visit with them in 1982 following the lead of my grandmother. Surprise, surprise, I could not understand their language even though they claimed to be Akans. They wear traditional clothes (kente) and gold ornaments like the Akans in Ghana, did everything similarly, but I couldn't understand them. We spoke French which I learned at school. In my heart I wish Ghana and Ivory Coast was never divided into two by the English and French as we are one people and have so much in common.

You should visit often and have a cute little studio House for you and your friend where you can stay longer and immense in the culture. Adeola, the jollof issue is not even about West Africa...origins - Wollof . So we have Gambia, Senegal, Liberia, Ghana and Nigeria. Then i just learnt our AAs family across the atlantic pond have their jollof called Jambalaya. Jollof is a West Africa Native....the slave traders couldn't take that too from our bro and sis across the pond...OH SHOUT OUT TO JOLLOF. alas the never ending jollof war....we love it...it must and will evolve till eternity.

      Have you been to Togo Airport, it is way better. Even Senegal Airport is way better. Sometimes I watch Nigerians getting too carried away with past glories not realizing that so many African countries have left them in terms of development and infrastructure.

Many congratulations to the people of Ghana. Next time visit some nightspots and see what he street food looks like. Great one Adeola.
