Having a personal connection with Henry, I've had the privilege of using his own bow during training sessions, and my admiration for him has only grown. He's truly a great man. I'm a subscriber to your channel, and the shared love for Shrew bows brings our community together. Sending my best wishes, and a big thank you for your impeccable review of this bow.
Thank you so much for commenting. I love this community so much. Folks like your father have done a lot to help promote the sport and make it what it is today.
I WAS LOOKING FOR A GREAT REVIEW ON THE CLASSIC II. I FOUND IT! GREAT REVIEW! I TOO A HUGE FAN OF RON LACLAIR. I WAS SADDEN TO SEE WE LOST HIM IN MAY OF 2022. A LEGAND LIKE FRED BEAR. YES RON AND HENRY THE DREAM TEAM. NEW SUB. ALWAYS THUMBS UP!
Yes sir they are a great company i have a few Bodnik bows and I love them all I’m saving for the shrew. Thank really for sharing Take care and God bless. 👍🏼🏹🇺🇸
I own 2 Super Shrew bows and while I agree the Whisper String is a decent string I found using a Grizzly Hybrid string improved the performance of the bows and is even quieter !! I’m not sure why one might recommend padding the string grooves. The fit and finish on the grooves is flawless so I expect it might be a marketing ploy !! That being said there is no doubt that the Shrew and Super Shrew Bows are flat out amazing !!! Wingman your review may be the best bow review I’ve ever heard !!! Henri Bodnick and Ron La Clair did produce a gem of a bow !!
Hi Wingman115, thanks for your Great Video…the same for me…Henry Bodnik himself give me his advice regarding Shrew bows and Arrow set-up. Last week i ordered the Super Shrew II - 60“ - Siberian Tiger! I cant wait to get it!! Regards from Switzerland, Martin Struebin
I feel fortunate! I got to meet Henry and Ron at Kalamazo trad expo. Super great guys! Henry sold me a bow just like yours! Lol I use the Vintage arrow also with 200 forward. Gotta say I love that bow just like you do yours. Enjoy!! 🏹🏹🏹
Great review, and what a nice bow. I'm a big fan of Henry Bodnik's bows also. Really enjoy his vids as well. Mine are the basic 60" Slick Stick from Kustom King in 35# and 50#. I just love that shorter hybrid R/D design. And they are a smooth draw to my 31.5" draw length.
GREG MOTIVATED ME TO REFUBISH A 1964 BEN PERSON PALOMINO. IT TOOK ME THREE YEARS SERCHING EBAY BUT I SCORED THE GRAIL. SERIAL NUMBER 77 64 1. DID NOT NEED TO RESTOR LIMBS ONLY OLD LACQUER ON RISER. TURNED OUT BEAUTIFULLY. HANGS IN MY LIVINGROOM WITH LED LIGHTS TO HIGHLIGHT IT.
Awesome! I just purchased the same bow from a friend. 54" Classic Hunter II 45#@28". I draw 27" and was wondering what arrows to use. Now I know! Thanks!
Look up the Howard Hill Classic in Alabama, end of May-first of June.. Tannehill State Park....fun 3D shoot for 3-4 days. Terry Harris has successfully run it for many years.
What did you end up at for brace and nock height to get it to quiet down shooting 3 under if I may ask? Love my shrew but can’t get it tuned quite right for noise at three under
Awesome video, Wingman! Your passion is contagious and inspirational. That Shrew is a total honey for sure, and "oh crap!" on that Robin Hood! I have to ask, are you the Wngman who posted a written review of the Galaxy Black Ridge 70" longbow? I've got one on the way and can't wait! Thanks for the time and effort you put into this. Much appreciated.
HI Wingman, thanks for the very comprehensive review of this bow 😊. Oh how I would like one of these bows 🤩 and in that same wood combination as yours, it is such a beautiful looking bow 😍. Maybe I will persuade myself to part with the money for one in 2021 😊. Do you enjoy Robin Hooding your arrows 😊, its kinda fun when done but when its done to a couple of brand spanking newly made ones it irks me somewhat nowadays 😑. To prevent it I now use goldtip uni bushings in my gold tip trads and then easton large groove G nocks with the inserted parts scraped down a bit so they fit 👍🏽. I have trashed a few nocks but never actually Robin Hood the shafts and ruin the arrows any more 🤗. I live in UK and arrows are rather expensive over here 😖. I am currently shooting the Bodnik Slick Stick 58" its a nice bow but im never fully happy with the grip. I have a 45lb one and a 40lb one and both have different grips, the 40lb one has a very short grip and it ends up pivoting in my palm on the bottom edge of the grip 😑. The 45lb one has more palm swell a thinner and higher throat and is longer and does not end up pivoting on the lower edge of grip 🤔 so I am fully understanding your views on the need for a grip that feels right so you can concentrate entirely on shooting and not have that nagging little annoyance of the grip to distract you 👍🏽.
It is. There's a lot of great folks that don't get enough credit in the community that have made archery what it is today. It is my goal to produce video's that showcase those folks.
@@Wingman115 The same can be said about the slingshot community too, we have some awesome shooters and professional and custom slingshots I'm both an archer and a slingshot shooter. www.simpleshot.com
I’ve been thinking of doing a video like that. I have been trying to find a super mag 48 but the market is dried up right now. The ones on eBay look too rough to spend big bucks on. I’m keeping a eye out. If anything crosses my path I will do that video.

Man, I'm waaay behind. Just got to watch this and what a awesome surprise. Thanks for the kind words and the shout out, greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all you do for the archery community.
What an awesome journey down this path with Shrew Bows and the man, Ron, himself! I expect to see you shooting that rig more often than not!
For sure my friend. I want to put a Selway quiver on it and hunt with it.
Good reviews, thanks for it. Shooting for less than a year and bouncing between trad and compound. Having fun at both!

I want a shrew bow! That’s the one. Probably a $1000 bow
Around 750.
awesome video and a awesome bow
Great looking bow and robinhood
Great review, thank you!
Much appreciated.
Beautiful bow. Now I need one
They are high quality shooters for sure.
@@Wingman115 I'll bet. But I guess I'll have to order one because I haven't found them in an archery store near me.
Great content as always! Thanks for the attention to history and conveying your passion. Great video my friend. Regards

Been wanting one of these for about 10 years. Finally going to be able to get one soon, just making my final decisions.

Good stuff my friend.
@@Wingman115 I noticed your arrows are quite long. Do you use the point to aim?
I do. I use it to gap shoot. The longer the arrow the shorter point on gap.
Thank you for the review.... out of curiosity, With such a short draw, why did you not choose the 52"?
You got a sub and I’m buying a new bow Great vid brother

Nice video . Great tribute to Mr LaClair ( the legend ) by Henry . I always wanted a Shrew but Cannot shoot short bows ( under 60" ) worth a darn .
I have read a lot of great reviews on this bow. 👍
Thanks for stopping by and for commenting also. Take care my friend.

Great vid, as usual
Fast and loud but stabil accurate.
Mine is really quite. I think sometimes the video mic distorts the sound of bows.
Amazing actually..
Thank you for watching.
very nice bows too
Thank you.

Have you tried a bow from great plains? They are my favorite. I own a model b recurve and just ordered a sr swift.
I have not. I will have to check it out.
@@Wingman115 yes sir. I absoluttely love em
Nice shirt!
Thank you sir.
What is the poundage of your bow
The Shrew isn't your normal cup of tea Wingman.
😳🤔
I had both the Cobra and the Bear whitetail and whitetail II, killed my first deer with the Black Bear.
They are a great bow and they shoot outstanding.
Very nice video my friend, it's nice to see you have a secret admirer with the thumb down haha Great information in this one, fantastic looking bow.
Thanks Dana. His bow is on a all new level of performance.
Hi, great bow, what kind of silencer are this? Thank you.

How do these compare to a Toelke?
I haven’t shot one so I can’t honestly say.
Traditional is the ONLY way to shoot .....love LaClair! And I see your a 3 under shooter .
I shot split finger for over 35 years made the switch to 3 under and it just works better for my style of shooting.
How does it compare with the Browning Cobra, I know the Cobra will be some what slower.
I love my Cobra but they have the Shrew down to a science.
What’s the weight on that 40lb?
I've met Greg cool chill guy
Jon please compare the bear super ,mag to the shrew

not a real robinhood though. a robinhood is done on second shot but nice shooting!
Noted.
