I am his uncle and very proud of him. He is an upstanding African American man on the field and in school. He will prevail at his next stop for college.
I appreciate your time here representing the state, Ty. It takes some guts to come out and air this out publicly. That speaks to your maturity that's still growing. I hope you get the help you need and all the best in your future. I'll be pulling you! Thanks for giving him a platform, DJ and crew!
DJ, college sports need more of this right here. The way you approached this situation and got TY on here to tell his side and was just straight up. My hats off to you my man!!!
I'm his Aunt and he's a talented and smart young man. We are a family that trust in God. When man closes one door God will open other doors. Bigger and better opportunities are coming your way. ❤
Yes, the man Ty Washington will impact the future frontrunners of tomorrow, the leaders of tomorrow, and anyone wanting tomorrow to be better. "Trust the Timing of Your Life" 🙏
that’s my blood cousin..we got the same grandmother..the one he’s talking about…just wanted to understand who people were ..we appreciate all support because times are rough right now…
Appreciate you DJ for allowing that brother to come on and tell his side and also hold him accountable and THANK YOU TY for what you’ve done for the Hogs and pointing the finger at yourself but we know it wasn’t all on you. Good luck brother, positive I’ll see you on playing on Sundays. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
If Ty reads this I want you to know that I'll put you in my prayers and the 1 thing I can say is mental "illness " is real and praise you for admitting you need help BUT I guarantee JESUS can & will get you through your trials & tribulations, I ABSOLUTELY 100% GUARANTEE THAT TO YOU. Please reach out to him for wisdom, healing, and strength...
DJ, this is Paul Williams from school. I'm freaking proud of you brother. You know some of what was talked about in this podcast harkens back to our time at school together. Man, the whole reason I stayed after practice all those times and wrote those inspirational messages in the Quads is because I know this game is rough not only physically but mentally. The thing that most led me to doing it though was my time in the military. Being away from home, away from family, friends, and where I was from was so so hard. It hurt my mental every day. You know I can understand where Ty Washington is coming from because while I was in the military I lost my grandmother who raised me from the time I was 6 years old. I didn't get to go see her, I never got to tell her goodbye, that kind of stuff can really hit hard and it's not something you're ever prepared for. So man, I tried to give back everything I had while I was a student. But dude, I keep thinking when I think of what you're doing DJ how proud I am of you. I keep thinking how I tried to make it as a sports journalist in Arkansas and how that didn't pan out. But then I see you covering the Hogs and man a smile just crosses my lips every time because if any Williams in Arkansas deserved the role you have now, it's you. Keep being awesome brother, God Bless You and Yours. -Your Friend Always, Paul
Im SO HAPPY to see all the positive feedback and encouragement for this young athlete. ~~~~~~IM PROUD OF YOU HOG NATION!~~~~~~ And thank you DJ for providing the platform.
Appreciate you keeping it real, DJ. And, Ty, I'm sorry for the way this unfolded. Keep growing, young man and we wish you the very best from here. Let God lead and He will direct you to right where you need to be.
Great approach by DJ. He was compassionate about the specific situation Ty is dealing with, but also told the young man he can’t act the way he did on a football team. Ty called it “his mistake” and “he could have handled it differently.” Communication is a two-way street. Coaches have a lot going on. The fact that there are some fans on here saying Sam is the evil villain in this are irresponsible and reckless. He has chosen to keep it private, Ty has chosen to give his side on TH-cam. We all know there are 3 sides to every story…
Thank you DJ for giving Ty this platform to tell us what happened. Ty if by some chance you read this. Thank you for sharing. Thanks for choosing to be a Razorback. I hate it ended this way for you. I enjoyed watching you play. Good luck on the rest of your football journey and life after football. Just keep your faith in God and pray he will help you with your mental health. God bless.
Props to Ty, ya got stones to put yourself out there and own up to mistakes. There are many today that point the finger and shun personal responsibility for the situation they find themselves in. That’s a sign of character that goes beyond the game of football.
Kudos for sharing this conversation. Seems like a good young man who is learning a tough lesson, and those are the kind of things that make men. Best wishes to him for his future endeavors.
Ty. I want you to know. The world may feel heavy on you right now. But brother, you going to be so much better as an overall person due to everything you having to overcome right now. Just keep your head up and keep pushing young man. I can't wait to see you come out on the other side.
Takes a man to take accountability. It sucks, but if it wasn't working, it probably wasn't going to. I wish you the best Ty. Thank you for being a Razorback, young man
Thankful. I really appreciate you giving this young man an opportunity to speak and a conduit through which fans can express encouragement, DJ. Stuff like this will continue to make this channel stand out. Respect.
Ty as man never apologize on how you feel, how you feel is how you feel💯. A lot of people will say what they will do in a situation or how they would have handled it but the truth is they wouldn’t know how to handle it. Your health is always important. Stand on what you believe in and don’t ever tuck your tail!!
Thank u dj 4 letting him tell his whole story and im sorry ty this is going on and this happened to u .we will definitely miss u. And will keep u in my prayers wish u the very best to u .in whatever u decide to do.
Ty, you’re a young man and you don’t get to be an old man without making a few mistakes. You are smart and talented and will land on your feet. Wish you all the best!
I'M SPEECHLESS... I don't know Ty, but I know his family, because they are my family. I KNOW THEM. So, I speak from the depth of my heart...PEOPLE DON'T GIVE A DARN ABOUT YOU...Whether it's on or off the field. My grandfather told me early in life, "People will remind you that you are black, and there are some people and places that will never accept you 100%. They will humble you. " I say this to say, YOU don't have the same privilege as your counterparts, and for the record, nobody owes us anything. Universities, employers, and even family and friends will use you up and to their benefits. BUT, the first time you're out of line, speak up or out, then you're out. I'm learning at my age to control my emotions, but I will not allow anyone to DISMISS my feelings and my mental health. Being cocky, looking a certain way, talking trash and even speaking out of terms...no excuse. I want to ask coach, how would he have a couch handle his own child IF he/she needed extra guidance and grace. I appreciate Ty accepting responsibility for his part, but eating humble pie for BS... no. They wanted to kill the image of what was presented. I heard what the host said...the RUMORS. BUT AGAIN, FOLKS WILL REMIND YOU OF WHO YOU ARE.
Thank you, Ty, we appreciate you very much. Thank you, DJ, for the content and being real with this young man. I'm glad to see him smiling and laughing some at the end.
We’ve all had moments in our lives we look back on and wish we could have handled things differently unfortunately those moments always have repercussions. You learn and grow from these moments. It’s up to you whether or not you let these moments define you.
Ty thank you for sharing. It’s hard to accept responsibility when you are also hurt by the actions of others but that is what you did. There’s never a wrong time to do the right thing but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to do so. Honestly, it’s the definition of character. I’m rooting for you off the field & on the field if that’s what you want. Jeremiah 29:11
Excellent interview, thanks to TY for coming on. Best of luck to you finishing your degree and condolences for your grandmother. Tough situation, does shed more light on what happens behinds the scenes in the NIL/portal era. I can see both sides of it.
DJ...Great job on the interview. That will go a VERY long way with Ty and the fans that take the time to watch. And I love the fact that you kept it real with him and didn't excuse the way things happened. I think you are exactly right in saying everyone probably could've handled a piece of this better/differently. Great...GREAT job! And keep your head up Ty!
Ty prayers to u and ur family I went thru it with my grandpa around the time I was in college it hits hard and it constantly stays on ur mind just stay strong and keep pushing forward and outstanding to get on here and clarify things that’s was very reputable
I am so sorry Ty. I can’t believe this happened to you. You were always the sweetest, funniest, and upbeat person, even when we had no idea what was going on in Spanish.
Amazing job DJ. Ty, hold your head up and trust in yourself. DJ was correct when he said fans love and support you Ty. I wish you only the best and a very successful career moving forward. It takes a lot to admit needing mental health care especially for a man. I’ll pray for the Lord to keep his hands over you.
Some players are all business...some need more than that...some coaches are CEO's...some coaches are player coaches...hope Ty lands on his feet, gets the help he needs, finishes his degree, and has a wonderful life! Go Higs!
Man! I wish you nothing but the best Ty Washington. Very talented kid. I hate to hear it went down like this. I understand a player refusing going into a game but they are human. He was going through something and in the midst of that handled a situation poorly.
Major props to DJ for keeping it so real and honest and respectful and encouraging. I enjoyed watching Ty and thank him for being a razorback. I find his side of the story believable and the grown men in positions should act more like a man in these situations instead of the cold shoulder act. Best wishes to Ty.
I am praying for you Ty. Praying that you will get better over whatever you are going through. Wish you luck for wherever the Lord leads you!!! I will miss watching you play for the Razorbacks but you have to do what is best for you for your mental state!!!!
Thanks Ty for sharing. Just remember, as DJ said, college sports has become more like pro sports. Athletes can expect to be treated this way in many schools, just like it’s a job. It’s a by-product of NIL and the portal. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. It is what it is and I think you handled yourself well today. Thank you for representing my home state and I’ll always be proud to be your fan. God bless.
this is a good player petrino chose taylen as a year project he knew there would be growing pains first year he didn't get ty the ball at all this year he stayed here 3 years go ball out we wish him the best
Ty!! First thx for your play on Arkansas razorbacks! Second all scholarships are year to year! If you don’t play! The head coach has no choice but to let you go. I hope to see you playing well on another team! And learn from your choices!
Obviously, this is only one side of the story, but with all the recent focus on athletes' mental health (especially since the 2020 Olympics and Simone Biles) I'm absolutely shocked that this went down the way it did. It seems like our athletic department needs a metal health coach who is proactively addressing these situations before they escalate to the point of a player not wanting to go in to a game.
There are always two sides of the story. Wish him the best, the guy has talent. Sometimes when a door gets shut a better one opens. Hope that’s the case.
Ty is 20 years old its been 30 years since i was 20 but realize hes been on this earth just that that long. He needed help with his mental health and they said fuck it. Ty use that degree and go get paid somewhere that will appreciate you. Whether thats with your degree or playing ball.
Coaches don't kick players off the team for just a one time thing,it's always a reoccurring thing,so I think there's some things that aren't being said about this situation
T Rex it’s Coach Joe.. head up….keep grinding, keep pushing. We BeLEEve in you ! Pray in Faith and the Lord will guide you . ❤ ya buddy. I talked to your pops earlier week, you know what you gotta do!
Looks like meeting up with the real world. Called to help the team. Refuses to go. The world doesn't revolve around any one person. We all deal with personal struggles that no one else cares about. It's our choice how we respond.
Right now it doesn't matter if Ty is going to Ole Miss, BAMA, TX....F that!!!! What matter is he was reaching out for help due to mental health or whatever went on prior. Mental health is no joke. I understand the thought process, as I also can relate. You definitely feel defeated. "Trust the Timing of Your Life". Wish someone would have reacted, but again I don't know the intimate details. Stay you and surround yourself with the people that got your back, HE KNOWS...🙏
You are so right, mental health is NO JOKE, and the fact that the staff handled things this way speaks volumes about what really goes on at the U of A.
I can see things from both sides. It’s an unfortunate situation that college football has become a business. Coaches have to be all business. And bottom line I understand Ty’s situation mentally but you still have a job to do. And when the coach hears complaint and then you refuse to do your job I get it. I really think as a head coach, coach Pittman has been hurt by a few players personally the last couple years and so he has had to become that no nonsense all business guy. All the same we loved watching Ty play ball. Good luck and God Be with you Brother.
DJ, you say they have to treat these players somewhat like they are professionals. My question is, Even with the NIL and all the changes, wouldn’t you still want that close relationship with these players to keep them from hitting the portal? I’m not on the up and up on the NIL and all that but, If the coaches have to basically treat them like the NFL, then that transfer portal is a double edge sword. I also want to say, you are killing it on the 4th and 5! Love it! WPS!!
Coach couldn't count on him so he was let go. Understandable. Wish coach would've considered the backlash from the rest of the team before the dismissal. Ty will get serious minutes elsewhere and he'll be a better man because of this experience
It will be just another 1 of our good players that ends up at Ole Miss. At some point people needs to open up there eyes & see/say what’s really going on. This is a prime example. Him not going in don’t justify getting kicked off the team.
Honeslty, I understand what he's saying and I sympathize with his side. But it's clear that there's more to the story for it to get to this point. That's why I liked that Dj asked what happened that lead up to this...coaches aren't just letting players go now days, especially in the SEC...there has to have been a build up for it to come to this..js
I get to work with this young man on a regular basis. Quality kid. I wish him nothing but the best.
I am his uncle and very proud of him. He is an upstanding African American man on the field and in school. He will prevail at his next stop for college.

Love it! WPS!!
Good luck Ty, I hope for nothing but success in your next stop
DJ, that was your best interview by far.
Facts
Honeslty, I understand what he's saying and I sympathize with his side. But it's clear that there's more to the story for it to get to this point. That's why I liked that Dj asked what happened that lead up to this...coaches aren't just letting players go now days, especially in the SEC...there has to have been a build up for it to come to this..js
Box shut up you’re a 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 idiot
You the man dj
Everybody just forget he had family problems. Midway through the interview and nothing about it. Family comes first. Wild.
Best wishes Ty
