LOL thanks big brother Dejuan! I still laugh when people ask me if I'm 17... then I say add a decade and their jaw drops. =) I just wish you could have come along for the experience! At least there's Waste Expo 2010 in ATL!
That is a good thing. I am 14 right now (my birthday was last Friday) and I started high school and no one takes me seriously because I am really short. I don't like it at all but when I have a grow more, I will be a lot taller like my brother (same thing happened to him and now he is 6'3!!)
If you just hit high school... you should have one really good growth spurt ahead of you.... I know when I was in between 9th and 10th grade I grew an inch in the summer... some guys grew like 6 inches. You might want to mark your height on a wall now, and see how much it changes in the next year.
LOL it's ok! Many people think I will look way older/different than I actually do... I look like I'm all of maybe 18... but I'm actually 27... it's a good thing I guess... cuz when I'm in my 30's people will think I'm in my 20's... =)
I'll agree with that... only catch... I want to OWN the truck I drive! lol Lord knows WM won't let me do that! So for the next couple years it's college... then I will try a return to the garbage industry.
They have a version with the dual "joystick" controls. The controls basically look like 2 tall T's. I didn't get to use it, but they claimed that it was easy to operate.
Thanks! The camera I use is actually a discontinued model Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. I think they make a new one that's a 1200... but it's a great camera, it's about the size of a cell phone, easy to keep in a pocket.
LOL Yeah this is way different from those other trucks. I can't really think of how it would compare... its just a totally different animal. It seemed fairly easy to learn too. The representative at Petersen Industries told me that some of the most experienced operators can use many of the controls at once by just using their finger tips. Did have a little help - they have a control diagram behind the controls on the body, so if you get lost, you can look at the diagram and get back into it.
WOW! You really handled that grapple like a pro!! It takes alot of guts to show face on YT!! I just couldn't do it!! Btw, I've seen 1 or 2 new WM Freightliner M2 grapples with that same body I think roll by where I live!! I think they use it for storm cleanup; haven't seen them use for bulk, mostly RLs with trash! Btw, Awesome Vid & 5 Stars!!! I wish you the best luck on your Trash Business!!!
I guess eventually you get the feel for where the different controls sit, like touch-typing on a computer I guess :) Saw the pic of the diagram... thank god for it! hehe
@floddy3831 Jag tror inte att de har en avlägsen tillgänglig dessa lastbilar. Ett förenklat två spak kontrollsystem finns. English: I do not believe they have a remote available these trucks. A simplified two lever control system available.
He wishes he could acquire the skill to run these, ain't gonna happen looking at this! lol (jks mate) You looked like you knew what you were doing considering it was your first time... if it was me I would've lost control and picked up the guy recording!!! hahaha I bet this is a real different experience from RL / SL / FL hey? That's a lot of levers behind the cab as well -- 22 in total! -- but guess they are dual controls :) That Freightliner sounds awesome too!
It definitely was... the people at Petersen Industries were great!

ITS LIKE SECOND NATURE WHEN YOU PUT YOUR TIME IN.JUST WATCH OUT FOR POWERLINES AND FOR THE CREW ON THE GROUND!!! SAFETY IS NUMBER ONE ALWAYS!!!
I’ve ran the joystick controls and the hydraulic lever controls and I gotta say the one in this video is by far my favorite
love that freightshaker! fun eh...not so bad pickin up trash for a living

Thank you!

You are correct... my face is in several pics my slideshow of the trucks I used at AAA and WM.

I'm just glad I could share the experience with everyone! =)

These Petersen Industries bodies are really common from what I've seen! Most of the trucks I've filmed have them.
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!

It is easier with the two joysticks

No problem!

Dude, you handeled it like a pro! Excellent job! 5*!
Thanks, I might do that.

@TheOTTO2732 Yeah it is! They build those trucks really well.
YOU'RE WELCOME!!!!!!!
Your welcome!! Don't take this in the wrong way but for some reason I expected you to have a mustache. I have no idea why, but I just did.
Thanks man! =)
same as my truck but set up backwards lol.
@Daniel70065 Yeah, me too! Maybe someday in the future.
