    Thank you for the instructions. This video has lots of good repotting information for sympodial orchids of the oncidium type.

    Thank you! Sr. Brad, I just learned how to repot a Orchid. I think it was a BRASSIA SPIDER ORCHID. Again thank you!

    This vid helped me split a neglected (had not repotted for at least 5 years) spider orchid into three plants. Hope they survive. Thanks!

    I miss out the sphagnum from my Brassia potting mix and I now get zero root rot. Also, it's a Brassia you've got there, not a Brassa: there's an i in it. You could have got a third plant from the backbulbs you could have taken off the larger division - they readily sprout from backbulbs. Didn't know pine bark is toxic. I use pine bark and my plants thrive in it and I'm still here.

    I grow mine in a red lava rock and charcoal mix in a coconut fiber basket. Water daily.I have thousands of wild ones too. They choose the guitite tree to grown on. Corky soft bark,

    The lighting and less-cluttered background in this video looks nicer. Probably because of the new greenhouse

    Hi! Thank you so much for putting this together. I have inherited a spider orchid from my mom. It’s roots have grown out of the pot and I am concerned about detaching them. They seem to be dry and papery. I was hoping to send a couple of photos to you so maybe you could coach me about this plant. The words on the plastic label are “ONCIDIUM HYBRID”. The flowers look like the spider orchid but not as large. Since it is blooming I don’t want to do anything until it is finished. Thoughts?

    Brad I save 2 liter plastic pop bottles and cut the top off, cut slits and drain holes in it to re-pot my orchids in. They are food safe and easy to cut. I think it's a good way to re-purpose plastic. ; o) Just an idea.

    they don't like direct sun, they like moderate shade. your leaves are burnt that's what the spots are.

      Until we can talk Brad into a Phrag. video, I can tell you that they like to be wet. Some people in my society even sit them in a saucer of water. They also can take more light than most paphs. Good light for them will give you leaves that are a lighter green.

    • @box_fox
      @box_fox 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wade Hollenbach Thank you! At the moment I have it in a saucer with a bit of water in the bottom, but I'll start watering it more too.
      What kind of growing media would you recommend?

    • @wadehollenbach2816
      @wadehollenbach2816 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      This can vary a bit. If you are growing paphs, that mix should do pretty well. My mix is 2 parts med. bark, 1 part fine bark, 1 part charcoal OR perlite, and 1 part long fibered moss. If a plant seems to be drying out too much, add a bit of coarse sand to the top and it will filter into the media. Best of luck!

    mine blooms twice on the same bulb. first on the left side then after 3 months, it will bloom on the other side. I kinda neglect it but it has been a vigorous grower. It has always been on a cold spot of my windowsill even on winter and doesn't have any problems..

    • @BradsGreenhouse

      Mine have done that in the past too! Maybe it isn't to late :D

    Brad I have a question about my cymbidiums. I put them outside after the frost danger was gone in front of our house on the south side. They all burned in the sun, so I had to take them inside again. You had said that they like a lot of sun and can be kept outside until before the first frost. Any thoughts? I live just south of Seattle.
    Thanks
    Rita
