    Now yer talkin! I genuinely hadn't managed to do any proper slit hinges before this day. Even on my first proper glider 6 years ago, the good ol' Easy Pidgeon. Neither the rudder nor the elevators had been pre-mounted or even slotted at the fatory. They did supply several pieces of flexible sort of fibreglass type stuff, (still have 'em somewhere) but I was a total beginner. Too embarrassed to go to a local shop and say, " I bought this off the internet, but can you help me!" So they got hinged with packing tape. They worked, but needed replacing later. Experimental airlines was my guide.

      @@Killerplanes Heh, at that stage, I'd never done any of it before, so it was all taken from the Interwebs. 😋

    I have used a tooth paste tube for very reliable hinges. I glued them in first then pushed small tooth picks to help hold them in . The process of cleaning it up is not too long.

      Yes- whatever kind of plastic those are, it’s flexible forEVER, and easy to flex- perfect combo!

    What works great for me is the filter material from pool filters.

    • @Killerplanes
      @Killerplanes  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Andy-df5fj gotta try that out. All I need is a pool filter!

      I suppose furnace air filters have similar material. Dryer sheets seem to be similar as well but a bit too thin.

      @@Andy-df5fj Got those! Probably not as unbreakable as HDPE, though. I imagine they'd be difficult to get into a slit in foam- HDPE is hard enough!

      @@Killerplanes
      Yeah the slit needs to be opened up with a Popsicle stick or something similar because the material isn't that rigid, but once they're installed, the hinges are very low friction.

    Go git me the melk jug maaw!! This is country genius at work. I'm 25yrs Georgia, so. I'm gonna have to give this a try. I would "pin it" as well. A like from me. AirHammer out!!

      We used to call it Melk too! That was Long Island in the 50s and 60s- but those were all glass melk bottles, delivered into your melk BOX by a melk MAN. Oh, the good all days

    Is there a problem in just using CA hinges in foam?

    • @Killerplanes
      @Killerplanes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dont know what they are! HDPE is the only completely unbreakable hinge thats free!

    Watch all your videos. They're great. Got a Hawk Sky a few years back. It's still flying !!! Need to get with you about a new plane. I like the Biplanes or possible a Warbird. Anything of yours will be great !!! I'll be in touch.

      Tim Wolfe oh, you lucky devil- we’re getting ready to do Kickstarter with THE SHARK, Which is a hawkfighter on steroids, and will come with a 15 crash guarantee. 2 versions- trainer/FPV and combat aerobatic (the CA version goes over 90MPH, too) We are going to change the way RC planes are built! Keep an eye out-

    How did you go back in time and get a 1970's Mid-West city's local news anchorman to record the narration? ;-)
    All that was missing was "Film at 11!"
    Great retro video style!!

      Man- what wacky mid west city did you grow up in? So your local news anchorman broke into the occasional brogue, or southerner, or french or Romanian accent? Must have been fun!

Thank you for videos showing how to do it. I know it cuts into your bottom line of business. Have a great weekend 👍
