AMAZING video Jonas!! Thanks SO MUCH for posting this!! The Nexus is a beautiful piece of hardware and this DEFINITELY takes a lot of the mystery out of it!!
Jonas, Excellent video! You are an awesome trainer. Easy to follow and I was able to setup my Heli in less than an hour and a half. The one thing I ask of you is to do a video on how you have setup your radio. Specifically how you setup your Flight Modes or BANK switches for 4 modes. If you cannot do this quickly as I know you are very very busy. Just export your Model and have a link to download it. Everyone can extrapolate what is what from that. Please!
This is a lifesaver. Im getting a m4 MAX and was in doubt between a brain2 or the new nexus. You just made the choice real easy! Edit just watched the whole thing. I read the online manual already. And you basically confirmed what I tought. Some. Learning curve of course but very doable. I don't see all the fuss about it being impossible in some places.
@@ryanrekz7744 I had 0 experience with it but didn't find it too bad. I did take some pids form the other video from Jonas. Started a little lower as a baseline and worked from there. My filters and pids came close in the end but are a slightly different.
Thanks for the explanation. The part about filter tuning is particular usefull for someone coming from classic FBL units. Just went out for a few tuning flights, now that it finally stopped raining.
How did you go with vibration tuning? I am wondering if the values Jonas uses is enough and bypasses the need to 2-3 minute hover and analysis of the logs? Did you look at the vibration log after flying?
@@stevebarrow3042 Taking filter values from another heli is probably a bad idea. Your heli could start resonating if the q-values are too high for your particular model. The 2-3 minute hover is only for the first flight, to validate the basic setup. For fine-tuning i did the following: - fly continous flips for 5-10s - check vibration log, - increase Q-values by 0.5-1.0 if there are no vibrations - repeat if you see vibrations on a certain harmonic just lower the Q-value for the corresponding filter. I stopped tuning after 5-6 flights, so technically my heli is still over-filtered. But thats good enough for my limited skills.

Thank you for the update! Kinda new to Heli stuff and learning to fly. But this Rotorflight is awesome. I fly tiny whoops and other quads. I understood 92% of everything mentioned. BetaFlight has a "presets" tab that takes away some of the guess work (gets you real close to a good tune) for tiny whoops, micros, and all other sizes of quads. Do you think this is possible? 😊 This would be awesome for OMP. Having several different pilots tunes for all the OMP helicopters this FC could fit in would be awesome. Once i get the basics down, I would love to drop this in my Blade Fusion 270. Looks like it might fit. I would say good luck, but Rotorflight, OMP and RadioMaster are gonna take over in the coming months, just like ELRS did!
@@Johnny31297 you guys are on the right track. BetaFlight was a lil scary at first, but, as more manufacturers have this as an option, RF will become easier to do. ELRS will do wonders even though Heli pilots won't need the range it offers. The ELRS discord has helped me out way too many times, great people! In the future, hopefully they can shrink the tech down to fit OMP M1? Or Goosky S1? You are the main pilot for OMP, so a preset tab with your tune, rates, filters, etc would be good too. In the past I only adjusted 'First Gyro' until the movement of the heli on screen matched the controller's movement. I never touched any of the options on the first line. My controller has wires pointed at the back, and I have been using "CW 270 Flip" for the First Gyro (2nd line). The heli seems to be flying fine - Would you recommend changing only the first line (Yaw degrees), or leave it as is?

Excellent vid Jonas. Does saving the CLI diff and using as a template work between different units if they are all RF2? Say if I set up a Flydragon 722 v2.2 and then dump the diff and upload to a Nexus is that a thing or a disaster?
Jonas, can you do a video on how you set your governor setting to ensure you enter Autorotation when you switch to profile 4. I'm confused because you have to be in the 5% range to enter Autorotation but the Governor settings are asking for head speed. The only thing I can think to do is to enable Motor Override, set the throttle to 5% and record my main rotor RPM. Than enter that number as Full Head speed in profile 4. However, I don't know if how consistent that would be. I'm afraid that if set this way there is a possibility of a surge in the head speed that may cause the bailout to engage.
Is there a way Rotorflight2 can be used with Jeti Transmitters (with Jeti Receivers or even Radiomaster Receivers) and with full (or even the most important) Telemetrie? (Cause i saw something with ReceiverProtocol JetiEXBus in a video)
I've got a new TX16S Max Mk2 ELRS + Nexus FBL on the bench, will be testing out on a Protos 380 (moving from Jeti+Brain2 on that particular heli). Jonas @Johnny31297, do you have any thoughts regarding the reduction in precision going to 10-bit with ELRS?
Jonas, thanks for the video. At 29:26 you say the full range is fine on the M4 Max and you don’t adjust the min max…but on my M4 Max on the same setup they reach way past the mechanical limits of the swash/tail. I had to lower the min max to +- 500 for the cyclic servos and +- 150 on the tail servo. What’s the reason for the difference between my setup and yours? As a specific example, the pitch servo will reach the limit of the anti rotation guide at about 50% in the servo override.

However, when I swing the tail rudder to either side while hovering, the rudder pitch works, but the tail does not stop in that position and slowly returns to its original position. I assume this is because the head lock function on the rudder is not working properly, how do I set the head lock function? Thanks
Question of the profile/Adjustments section. How are you able to get 4 profiles when you have it mapped to the 3 position switch (SE). Maybe I’m missing something.
In EdgeTX, you can assign multiple different switches to control a single channel's value. In this case he's used the "mixes" tab in the radio to combine his bank (SE) and autorotate (SH?) switches to effectively create a 4 position switch on the bank channel.
I will publish them when I find time, but as I said in the video, I didn't even have time to shoot the video itself, so I have even less time to prepare my setups for release now lol
